Depends on the big. He couldn't guard Jokic better than Lebron or AD, so they had to keep switching on who guarded Jokic. The problem was Rui is a very poor rebounder, and isn't great on the perimeter, so he got cooked by MPJ too.
@@coswingrant6003 I don't think Jerami Grant would be better or even better fit this team. He reminds me of Kuzma. Putting up PPG on mediocre efficiency on a losing team. If he wanted to play winning basketball, he would've stayed on the Nuggets who offered him the same amount as Portland did back in 2020
As much as I would like Jeremi Grant, if Rui can focus defensively I rather keep him and keep the continuity going, I have a good feeling about my boyz this year even though everyone is counting us out for lack of movements in the trade market
I think he struggled last year because lakers had no actual defensive schemes, he always looked lost for some reason , he kept leaving MPJ open it was so confusing lol.
@@officialdownload4 Lakers do have a defensive scheme. They tried guarding Jokic and the Nuggets the exact same way the Wolves guarded them. The problem is they don't have the length, athleticism, and some awareness to guard Jokic. Jokic was able to bully Rui and move AD a bit better than he did against KAT/Gobert/Naz Reid (and Kyle Anderson to a lesser extent. Slowmo has good hands), so you have to send another help defender (usually Lebron) to stop Jokic in the post. The next problem is sending 3 guys to stop Jokic-Murray either results in an open 3 point shot, or free cleanup on the glass by Gordon/MPJ just by positioning on top of height and athleticism against our guards. The Wolves had to send 3 guys to stop Jokic-Murray too, but it becomes easier to clean up on the glass with 2 7 footers on the court at the same time.
@@officialdownload4 I wish rui lateral movement was as good as Dwight 😂 but thats too much to ask,, heck even Dwight has better faster lateral movement than Rui
I think Rui is a good post defender and defender of bigs, but it’s just his perimeter defense that struggles

@@coswingrant6003boy got his info from lakers nation 😂😂😂
He’s not enough basketball IQ.
If I'm the Lakers I'm starting Rui & Vando with DLo Bron & AD...that would be awesome to see...that's truly position less basketball.....

i think rui IS a bad defender... but at the very least he is a big body and not another guard we had on the wing during the 2022-23 season lol
I wonder how is it that he runs fast but has slow lateral movement 😢😢
ルイはリズムにのると最強になれる💪
Best replacement for Kyle Kuzma
I'm fine with him as a low post defender but my god he is so awful as an off-ball defender. He gets lost. He is slow footed when on-ball guarding
Can he ever improve his lateral movement😢 just asking because we can't have Bron switching too much on D while taking scoring responsibilities😢
It seems he's actually not bad when he's engaged... he just spaces out so often if there's any movement.
八村はオフェンスが良いあまり、ディフェンスではハイライトが少ないそれが勝てない原因
勝てない原因って言うよりも八村個人としての課題の方があってるな実際八村おった方がチームは勝ててるわけやし
Haven’t seen any exceptional defensive plays only bad turnovers
Gotta give him some credit for jumping passing lanes and recovering on drives... but this is usually when he can get away with watching the ball.
