Claire loses faith in Charlie after Eko questions him about the Virgin Mary statues.
The survivors of a plane crash are forced to work together in order to survive on a seemingly deserted tropical island.
Lost is an American science fiction adventure drama television series created by Jeffrey Lieber, J. J. Abrams, and Damon Lindelof that aired on ABC from September 22, 2004, to May 23, 2010, over six seasons and 121 episodes. It contains elements of supernatural fiction, and follows the survivors of a commercial jet airliner flying between Sydney and Los Angeles, after the plane crashes on a mysterious island somewhere in the South Pacific Ocean. Episodes typically feature a primary storyline set on the island, augmented by flashback or flashforward sequences which provide additional insight into the involved characters.
Lindelof and Carlton Cuse served as showrunners and are executive producers along with Abrams and Bryan Burk. Inspired by the 2000 Tom Hanks film Cast Away,[1] the show is told in a heavily serialized manner. Due to its large ensemble cast and the cost of filming primarily on location in Oahu, Hawaii, the series was one of the most expensive on television, with the pilot alone costing over $14 million.[2] The fictional universe and mythology of Lost were expanded upon by a number of related media-most importantly a series of mini-episodes called Missing Pieces; and a 12-minute epilogue, "The New Man in Charge".
Lost has regularly been ranked by critics as one of the greatest television series of all time.[3][4][5] The first season had an estimated average of 16 million viewers per episode on ABC.[6] During its sixth and final season, the show averaged over 11 million U.S. viewers per episode. Lost was the recipient of hundreds of industry award nominations throughout its run and won numerous of these awards, including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series in 2005,[7] Best American Import at the British Academy Television Awards in 2005, the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series - Drama in 2006, and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

When Eko recites the 23rd Psalm, he incorrectly says, "the shadow of the valley of death", when its supposed to be "the valley of the shadow of death". The Lost writers were aware of this error and justified it by the fact that Eko is not a real priest so a misquotation is to be expected.

Sounds as an interesting error to keep in the episode we see the smoke monster for the first time which you might argue looks like a shadowy thing and some fans actually called it "shadow monster" for a short while until "the smoke monster" name became the common norm.

I remember finally getting to see the Smoke Monster properly. Such a buzz! I wish I could erase my memory and watch it again. So many twists and turns it’s amazing.

Your "I don't have time because I'm very busy being in a love triangle' comments cracked me up 😆 Having said that, things actually have been pretty full-on over the last few days.
They have had 4 new camp members arrive under very difficult and tragic circumstances.
They've had to come to terms with Shannon's death and have a funeral for her.
Jack has also been very busy 'fixing' Sawyer.
If I was Michael I would definitely feel that nobody seems to care about getting Walt back, but I get why Jack needs a moment here to let the dust settle before doing anything about it.
    Brilliant episode and reaction!

Lexi: "I was really so hoping that they (Eko and Yemi) would run into each other on the island". I get it, like Rose and Bernard did. But Lost has its own ideas.

About your pre-comments: As I recall, the orientation video specifically says that "the button pushing procedure" had to be started AFTER the mentioned incident happened, I mean it's introduced because of the incident. So the incident can't be an instance of failing to push the same button.

This is the first episode of Lost I ever saw! It was on TV one night and I had no idea what was going on but I was absolutely enthralled!

This episode is one of the greatest of the series and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Eko is one of the best characters/performances in the show.

So now the mystery is solved about the origin of the Beechcraft airplane and the virgin mary statues! I Love it when Lost solves its own mysteries and not let the viewer wait until the last season. However, as usual, every answer leads to more questions. Like how does a small Beechcraft from Nigeria end up in the South Pacific, and where was its destination? And its interesting that Eko was in Australia on his way to L.A. and ended up crossing paths with his brother's plane, yet last we saw Eko in the flashback, he was in Nigeria. This show may be focused on a small unnamed island in the south pacific, but it literally takes the viewer all over the world!

LOST is great at introducing new characters each season that are just as memorable as our Day 1 cast (for the most part), and Mr Eko is without a doubt one of my favourite additions. His character and story adds a lot to the show and also enhances other characters like Charlie and Locke specifically. Love this episode and love the new bits of information it gives us.

Try pausing during the Smoke Monster scene, during each of the flashes.

Jack had a lot going on from the moment he ever found out Walt was missing, which was only 2 episodes ago. He literally had to save Sawyer who had been shot, that was the earliest he ever would have known Walt was gone. And Shannon had also been shot, which is a situation he had to deal with immediately. He had to stick around to make sure Sawyer survived, who was still unconscious until the previous episode.
So, considering Michael didn't even bring up going to save Walt and the other things going on, it makes sense that Jack didn't bring up going to rescue Walt until now, in my opinion. If he left and Sawyer died, that would have been disastrous and probably even irresponsible of him.

When Eko found Yemi's corpse inside the plane, his skull appeared to have hair on it. Yemi was shaved bald while alive, and did not have pattern baldness. So perhaps it was to indicate that hair still grows even after death?

    • @letsrock1729
      @letsrock1729 5 днів тому

As I understand it, both hair and nails appear to continue growing after death, but they actually don't. It only looks this way because the skin shrinks and therefore gives the impression that hair and nails have grown longer. I guess the skin on Yemi's head shrunk a LOT. The alternative is gruesome, as it could only mean that Yemi was alive/incapacitated for quite some time before finally dying.

Jack ran after Claire because he felt guilty for not believing her or so I think.
Shannon and Sayid saw Walt, so maybe it's him.
Charlie doesn't seem to be on drugs, let's hope not

Charlie you may not have been using BUT you still lied to Claire. This was the first good look at the monster since the season 1 finale. It appeared to be taking pictures or scanning Eko's past life. 😍

Seeing the Smoke monster again made me recall the airline pilot from S01. Of course we assume that the monster killed the pilot even though all we saw was it grabbing the Pilot out of the plane and then only later finding his blood soaked corpse high up in the trees. We didn't actually see it kill the Pilot. This would be consistent with it not killing Locke or Eko. Why would it kill the pilot at all, and not also kill Locke and Eko? Another curious inconsistency is that the Monster can be super loud and destructive in the Jungle, but also fairly quiet and stealthy. But I'm still mystified about the Pilot. Why did it kill him if it did (and not just accidentally drop him into the trees?). Also, did Jack and Kate ever recover the body of the Pilot and bury him? Or was his body unrecoverable?

I don't think Jack acted out of character. He of course threw himself everywhere during emergencies, but Walt is not an emergency. Claire was abducted, he ran immediately; A girl was drowning, he dove in the water. Shannon was shot, he ran towards Ana Lucia, near the camp. Walt was taken, but there's no one to chase! Where the hell could be Walt? Surely not in the vicinity of the camp, like Claire was. No trail, no direction. Jack is hot headed, but it still the 2nd most rational thinker in the group (the 1st being Sayid)

The "Incident" was not a case of "not pressing the button" previously. Rather, the "Incident" resulted in having to begin pressing the button every 108 minutes as Dr . Marvin Candle had stated in S02E03 as Candle said "since that time...". So the previous Incident does not mean that Kelvin had lied about the purpose of the button. But he was clearly repeating what others had simply told him. He did sound rather cynical about the whole thing though. And can anybody blame him? Whether Kelvin lied to Desmond about other things remains to be seen.

I love your theory that Jack isn't searching for Walt because he's too preoccupied by being in a love triangle. :D
