I've been learning German for 8 months now, my tip is 'Have Fun' Learn the way you're comfortable with, it can be thru songs, listing, flashcards, films etc. Don't have too high expectations, as long as you're consistent you will achieve that goal.

    Best way to learn german:
    - watch the series "extra" (basically a german f.r.i.e.n.d.s)
    - DW German app
    - duolingo (don't rely on it too much)
    - and everything he explain in this video

So even though, many clips are not done by German native speaker, I Think it can be useful to learn it.
I have been watching "I and my family" in German for some time now. And it seems helping. The only thing is that not always sub titles are available in German.

I came here from easy German and I really have to commend you on this advice. I ended up getting my degree in German and this follows exactly the steps that people need to actually take in order to retain information. definitely without a doubt the best advice that I've seen anybody give!
other advice that you gave on the podcast that I think is really important he's having fun with it and recognizing the magic of being able to communicate with somebody else in their own language in a way that you never would've been able to before and having fun with it! And if you're living in Germany finding friends who want to actually speak German with you. As a native English speaker when I lived in Austria, all of my Austrian friends wanted to practice their English so would rarely ever speak German around me even though that's all that I wanted to practice.

If you dont mind, how old were you when you moved, and did you study there? If so what was it like? How is easy is it to move and start living there? Should I be fluent? Any advice would be very welcome.

I want to confirm that music is very helpful. My process was to listen to a german song, learn it world for word until you have it fully memorized. Once you can recite the entire song, look up the German lyrics to verify your pronunciation is perfect. Once you have every aspect of the song completely memorized finally look up the English (or your mother young translation) make sure you do this step by step don't look up the translation until it's fully memorized! Once you are finally ready for the English translation, all of the corrospinding German words will solidify mentally and your comprehension of those words will be equal to that of their English counterparts. I hope this helps!

i am german and here a some suggestions of artists/bands that sing mainly in german( in my opinion , it's more on the indie side) I included also other artist, that im not so keen on: Provinz, Annenmaykantereit, Faber, Josh. , Mia, LEA, Juju, Flyn Kliemann, Clueso, Allgatoah ( my personal favorite , but i think it is difficult to understand while learning german, because he often speaks in metaphers), sdp, also Helene Fischer (more for the older genereation, and the example for music most germans dislike in this video), cro, WirsindHelden, FeineSahneFischfilet, Sido, Culcha Candela.
I tried to ad different genres, but of course it is more of what I listen to and not the general music :)
ANd you can always search for german * Kirchweih Musik*, * Kärwa Musik*, * Kirwa Musik*, *Berg playlist* , these are typical older german songs. often played on Kirchweih ( it is something like the OktoberFest) or at birthdays or other festivities. they are verry simple and quite ripetitive , therefor easy to understand :)

First of all, I want to thank the author of the channel for making this beautiful and useful video for us! Many people are embarrassed to speak a foreign language if they have no speaking skills. People are afraid to hear criticism from others in their address. It all comes from having a psychological complex - to make a mistake. But, after all, he who does nothing is not wrong! In Yuriy Ivantsiv's workshop "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign language" states that we need to talk as much as possible: with yourself, with the mirror, with inanimate objects, with children and with pets. Find an interlocutor in real life or online. Talk without shyness. People won't care how you speak. They understand that you are a foreigner, as long as they understand you. They may even acknowledge your progress in their language and compliment you. However, always be prepared for criticism of your speaking skills. If you have the will to speak, you will gain an interesting interlocutor to consolidate your knowledge. Everyone is strewn with mistakes - don't be afraid to learn from them. As the Latin wisdom says, "walk and thou shalt not go astray". In the book "Polyglot Notes" by Yuriy Ivantsiv an entire chapter is devoted to the development of spoken language. Here you will find many useful tips and each student can choose a technique that suits him or her best! I wish you all the best of luck in your language learning!

It's been 2 weeks since i started learning.. started with a beginner UA-cam playlist .. gave me a good knowledge of some grammars .. and a decent amount of vocabularies .. some of them i memorize cuz i used them somewhere.. most of them i sadly forgot cuz i didn't write them on a card ...
And yeah most importantly , search wisely about the songs you'd listen to .. imagine foreigners star learning Arabic with your Iraqi accent .. and they end up listening to (صورني يعطواني) song 😂😂
