- As Doctor Who returns to our screens, questions abound about which villains may possibly make an appearance in season 1 (aka series 14). With Russell T Davies stating that Doctor Who will begin to explore supernatural and Godlike threats, it had me wondering... This video is a guide to the top 10 Gods and Monsters who, I think, have the best chance of returning to face the 15th Doctor in RTD2.

Fun facts on DW lore:
1. in some sources the Toymaker is 1 guardian of time, the guardian of dream and fantasy, along with 6 others.
2. They key to time was built by the grace who are greater old ones to the great old ones (the guardians)
3. 1 of the gods of ragnarok died to the hands of sutekh
4. The doctor once made a bunch of eternals mortal as punishment
5. The destroyer got ragdolled by sutekh
6. Beings like fenric, the great intelligence, gods of ragnarok are all elder gods, who are als classed as sub guardians of time.
7. The void is hinted at being somewhat sentient (maybe the one who waits, across everything......the darkness)
8. All elder gods existed before the universe but also after
9. The doctors universe is a fictional one to another universe in the multiverse
10. The time lords once fought beings that where authors to the main doctor who universe
👍🙂
Love most of these except for the last two. Would love to see The Guardians again. I always theorised that The Black Guardian is the leader of the Pantheon of Discord.
@@cameronmonaghan6883 take it u don’t like meta fictional type stuff? Ahah u wouldn’t like the war in heaven then I’ll tell u that 😂
I don’t think the black guardian is the leader of the pantheon of discord, I think that’s truly the tricksters true from, as he is a mixture of all.
Since u didn’t like the last 2. How about this one extra big piece of lore 😂:
Kronos (the one from classic who) is not only a chronovore but is also half eternal, his parents are that of 1 chronovore named Prometheus and 1 eternal named Elektra. The eternals wanted him killed for the abomination that he was (mixed species) but The chronovores wanted him to survive. The guardians of time formed together to become the six fold god and make judgment on this issue, to keep peace between all transcendental beings they saved Kronos, however banished him, locked away.
@@OnTheHorizon- Meta Fiction doesn't really fit Doctor Who MO. Aside from the occasional wink to the audience.
I think The Trickster is a pawn of the Guardian. Think of it as a hierarchy. Since they share an M.O
I have read Quantum Archangel. And if it wasn't mentioned there I do recall seeing Kronos ' parentage on the Wiki.
@@cameronmonaghan6883 I think meta fiction works in dr who, it just fits, it’s been a thing since the late 90s
@@OnTheHorizon- Okay. So long as it doesn't go as far as Deadpool or Rick and Morty
Rtd did say he had meetings with the team of big finish so can't wait to see what else he introduces
I would have included the Fendahl in the list.
I am 90% sure that the main villain of s1 is gonna be the Fehndal
Few reasons:
-The emphasis on salt. In Image of the Fehndal, that's used to kill/fend off the Fehndaleen (the big slug things)
-We know there's gonna be big slug things
-'The one who waits' sounds very Fehndal - it waited from the dawn of humanity to the 70s to awaken, so an apt moniker
-It's a force of pure entropy, which fits with 'Empire of Death'. Also probably powerful enough to scare the toymaker off
-I don't have the source on hand but I vaguely remember seeing an article saying that villains from 4 and 7 would be in season one. Grain of salt tho
Good video!
No mention of 3rd Doctor story the daemons? Wasn't it the white guardian who took Tom Baker to Skaro? Also no Mara? Great intelligence anyone? The gelf with their using corpse as vehicles could also make for a dark zombie story. Good list though.
I thought he was referring to Omega but I love the Fendahl. The 13 gestalt concept is brilliant.
I hope it is. It's an organism that is the heart of darkness of all humanity, and, if you have read Simon Bucher-Jones' "Black archive" on "Image of the Fendahl", it's clearly something that isn't going away. Plus, RTD referred to it being a "trick he missed", when he talked about rerunning the original serial on Beeb3 in parallel with a sequal. Definitely deserves another story/arc, worthy of the late, great Chris Boucher
BTW, my favourite story, ever
Don't know if he really counts but I'd love to see the trickster return
If not some of his servants at least. The Pantheon Discord seems so cool
This is a great video. I've always wanted Sutekh to return. He was the villain in the "Pyramids of Mars", which was the first Doctor Who story I ever saw, way back in 1977.
subscribed, liked, and commenting to boost this amazing video!!!
my favourite entity is the trickster and I wanna see him come back SO BAD, because I grew up with the Sarah Jane adventures, and I miss Elizabeth sladen so much :'(
This is a wonderful wonderful video!!! As I have nothing constructive to add, I shall reference several memeable lines.
"COME, KRONOS, COME!!!"
"𝘐 𝘚𝘶𝘵𝘦𝘬𝘩 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘺 𝘨𝘪𝘧𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥!"
"You have FAILED ME BOY! NYEHEHEHEHEHEH..."
And last but not least: "EnterTAIN us!"
I think more references to teh Dark Times of the universe before the web of time was built and timelords established hegemony will be referenced and villains anything between the Racnoss, Great Vampires, Ravenous, Terileptals and Osirans will come up. The Beast came from the universe before, Davapara Yuga in Hinduism but also in DW expanded media, as did the mysterious 'Disciples of Light' and the Doctor (the timeless child)- which Tecteun wanted to explore with him. I think there'll at least be references to the Beast. And Sutekh or Fenric have to return, incredible characters.
I really want to see fenric again because of how he was portrayed in the black and white tardis arc and the elder gods appeared along side him so I would love to see the doctor go against the elder gods
I was going to say comparing sutekh to Thanos was off but
Both named after gods
Both members of God like alien species
Both eventually are feared, considered mad and cast out by there people
Both view death and or destruction as good and take joy in it
And both muddy the lines between what is sci Fi and what is fantasy, what is supernatural and what is reality
Now I wanna see em fight
Others have said it, but im saying it too - this is a great video. Thanks. Subscribed!
My two guesses on The One Who Waits are the Valeyard or Omega.
I can be your strength, I can be the last nightmare you ever have, you will agree to be me sooner, or later this side of madness, or the other .
I AM A MARA!
Would be great to see Tegan again in such a story, too. And after all - we did have that Classic Box trailer... :)
Very well researched and a very eloquent script. Well done I enjoyed this a lot. As a sucker for the 11th Doctor era, I would love to see Akhaten return and expanded.
Awesome video man! Really enjoyed your editing and voiceover. Had me captivated from start to end. Hope some traction starts picking up for you!
How doesn’t this have more views. Great editing and video
It just got uploaded a day ago! It's killing it with views!
Fantastic video! This was exactly the content I was hoping someone was going to make going into this new season. I’ve been doing lots of research on Gods in the Whoniverse since RTD has confirmed this new era will be experimenting with and implementing them. Specifically, I’m really excited for Maestro in The Devil’s Chord as RTD has confirmed they are the God of Music.
Wow, this is such a brilliant video! Keep them coming, please.
Something I realize is the universe changed when the doctor invoked superstition in Wild Blue Yonder.
What made you realize that, was it the show drawing direct attention to it at least twice?
Yes this was explicitly called out in the show
Great vid
Love it, so many good threads to weave a story from here. Here's hoping.
Liked and Subbed, really enjoyed this video, hope to see more :)
brilliant vid. but what about the trickster and his hordes?
Mentioned at the end. I just gathered 10 (mainly Classic Who) that I thought were in with the highest chance of returning. As The Trickster was created by Gareth Roberts, I'm not sure he'd be very willing to allow him to return to Doctor Who so didn't include him here.
could you do a top 20 or 30 theres so many more
I believe Miss Merridue from Wide Blue Yonder, is Morgane. The one who waits!
The Destroyer could definitely be the sneaky one on this list!
I have wanted god villains to make a more prominent role in the franchise. And a teaser has stated bounty hunters are also going to be a part of series 14. Which are character types I wanted to see. Now (re)introduce some antiheros and bring back the spinoff characters in a crossover event against Sutekh or Omega and I will have had everything I wanted to see in the franchise since 2017.
Aidan seems to be reading my mind.
In terms of magic I'd love it if Wizards vs Aliens and the White Witch of Devil's End get involved in the future of the franchise. Maybe giving Poppy Hawthorne her own series and establishing individuals of species (Humans, Sycorax, Gallifreyans) can be capable of sorcery.
I think another good candidate would be Faction Paradox, they already have a cult following within the fandom and have very clearly supernatural themes with most of their technology being based on voodoo and witchcraft. Considering their hatred for Time Lords, large scale operations and lack of regard for temporal stability they would make a natural and dangerous villain for 15
Faction Paradox is so niche, I deliberately didn't include it here! I know Sutekh has appeared in Faction Paradox audios but I'm not even going to begin to go there... Though having said that, Beep the Meep was an equally as obscure pull!
Good video, but just some feedback, why was the video a top 10 list? These are usually used to rank things, so having them in chronological order seems contradictory to this. If you'd have made it a guide as the thumbnail says, the chronological style would have felt more natural.
As i said great video, but you should have tried for either the guide format (as stated in the thumbnail) or the more ranked "I want to see this one the most because, this the 2nd most etc..." top ten format.
Also just to add the thumbnail is beautiful.
It's a top 10 because it's the 10 top supernatural threats that I think have the highest chance of returning. The order is for me to decide, so I decided to do it in chronological order. If I'd done a guide to all of the supernatural villains, it could have been several hours long. But I like my thumbnails to look slightly different to the title of the video so it's not just repeating itself
Didn't they alrady do a thanos with the flux killing half the universe?
