10:53 He dried his wet footgear by the fire. 19:44 He built a fire and warmed himself. 20:16 He awoke chilled and sick. There was no sun. 28:35 On the Other hand, he knew all the time that the chamber was empty.
I feel almost disgusted eating after listening to this. I feel even more disapointed in my own laziness, as this man used his every last energy to strive for life. I feel in debt to strive for life to help another.
This is a really nice story I've read two books by him (Not audio books actual books lol) I've read White Fang, and the call of the wild lol this is really good :)
Schools these days think J.L. wrote only dog-stories. Read "People of the Abyss" or his masterwork of prophecy "The Iron Heel" to find his true vision...
I read. People of The Abyss. I like The Road. There, we hear about his grasp of economics. Or I forgot which book I heard a magnificent line. There is one quote. I love, more than almost anything. 'Out East, where the man chases the job. Out West, where the job chases the man. And the man bucks big!' Fantastic. I wish, I can go, to where the man bucks big. Maybe send for my wife. Or for my family. 😁 it might still happen!
This compliments" To build a Fire " . Especially if you read " Love of Life " straight after . Both place a solitary man ( the first is accompanied by a dog , the latter by a wolf ) in similar deadly situations in the wilderness . Except in the latter case the man has learnt his lessons well and respects Nature , ultimately surviving . An uplifting heroic saga after the tragic doom of TBAFire .
I truly believe that Jack London is one of the greatest story writers of all time. You’ve read this well!
Thank you!
I fell asleep on my phone

Gee, and all because of a story about an unknown man. Just goes to show what a genius Jack London was.

I love this audiobook, maybe cause it describes a man who didn't give up on his Life no matter what. It would seem he mastered the verb: to live🤓
