Filmed in 1080p at 24fps on the DJI Inspire 1. Aircraft is a Piper PA15 Vagabond G-BRJL built in 1948. Filmed in June 2015 near Bath U.K. Music is "Alone in Kyoto" by Air.
Tracy Hille Thanks, I hope to make more soon ! Good luck with the restoration, ours was restored about 3 years ago completely (professionally done over 21 months). It subsequently won Best Vintage Aircraft and best Fabric piper at the 2012 LAA Sywell Rally ! Cheers
Great stuff Keir, I just found your message, it was in my spam folder for some reason. Thanks for sharing the link to this video. It is a wonderful video and quite unique. Well done. I built a model of a Piper cub many years ago. A beautiful aircraft. Sandy
Hey, thanks for posting these awsome videos! Beautiful Vagabond by the way! I just purchased a Vagabond clone (Wag Aero Wag-a-Bond and Love it. I only have about 3 hours in it with an instructor and I have come from training in an Aeronca Champ. They fly similar but land totally different. Can you help me out a bit? What is your approach speed, climb speed, cruise, and touch down speed? I really love this little ariplane but I am just trying to get a handle on it. It seems like it likes a little power on landing because when you come out of the power it has no glide compared to the Champ. Any advise is appreciated! Thanks a bunch in advance.
Nice ! It's powered by a Continental C85 - Approach speed 55 kts, Touchdown at 45-50kts, climb out at 60kts, cruise at 85-90kts. The cruise speed is a little slower with an O-145 or A65 engine. Hope this helps and enjoy the Wag a Bond :)
Regarding the glide with power off, that's a weight issue and I think the Wag a Bond in particular is quite heavy, or heavier than a Vagabond. If you're flying solo the glide is better, but it'll be specific to your aircraft. I've no experience in a Champ so I can't give a comparison :)
The Inspire has no audio, so I though I'd add an accompaniment. I understand this may not be to everyone's taste, although I hope you enjoyed the content.
Victor Thorn it was more of a test for the drone when it was new to us. But I agree, and I should be uploading more of the videos I make. Thanks for watching !
Outstanding, I'm in the process of restoring a PA15, you're providing lots of inspiration.

Why the music? Thought the video was about the airplane.

Too much drone video and not enough Vagabond!
