  • The experience of going to Sam’s Club is really incomplete without the ever-present staff clad in blue vests. The employees of Sam’s Club can always be seen trying their best to help you in your bulk shopping needs.
They climb up long ladders to get that toaster down for you, check your receipt when you exit, or help stuff your purchases into the trunk of your car. Sam’s Club employees get a lot done throughout the day.
So, whether you want to apply for a job or just want to know what goes on behind the scenes, watch as workers reveal what it’s really like to work at Sam’s Club.

This is 100% true, after working at sams club for 5 years I was still getting paid as much as a new hire every year. I would also be the only employee in my department having to play catch-up everyday. I worked at 2 different Sams club and the first one I worked at management was decent to their employees, however my second Sams club I transferred too management was lazy, micromanaged about small things, and played favoritism.... i quit that particular Sams club after just working there for a few months.

I was always paid for any overtime I worked but it was def a stressful job and taxing on your body physically. I was a Manager for 25 years at Sam's. There is Not multiple managers on duty. Most times only 1 or 2 for the whole store. Yes workers where locked in an threatened to be written up if store not 100%. And ready for next shift. Yes they do the work of 10 people. I did the work right along side of them for 12 to 18 hrs a day. Holidays you work every day with no days off. Got the schedules to prove it. Yes there favoritism. As a manager your job is on the line every single day so you lean hard on the ones you can count on so you dont get fired yourself. Yes Associates do every single type of job. Horrible horrible place to work. Divitional managers come in an walk the stores while associates working ass off an there ridiculing and belittling myself an the employees. Dont believe me' ever see a big group in walmart walking an touring they will not talk to there associate or even acnollage there existence Or even help thhe customers . Seen this actually today in a walmart. Yes there are told to stay hours an hours past there shifts. Also the safety and food violations are a dailys thing. I left due to being diagnosed with stress disorder and the 100 hrs a week was to much at the end. Was.told by my.G.M i.couldnt leave the store till all my dept 100%.an this is after a 16hr work day..this was 4998 villages florida.

I woked for Sam's Club for 9 years. The place is a joke. I woked all three shifts and it is all bull crap. While i was on third shift they cut our hours down to 34 a week but expected us to still get everything done. One of my coworkers was named associate of the month then fired the nexed day for working over the 34 hour limit trying to get the work of three people done by herself. They bring in new "coaches" (managers) every few years and they fire people. They like to set people up and then walk them out. Though it sucked at the time, it was the best thing to no longer be working for Sam's club.

Yeah i worked there for 2 years became the front end team lead and had to run the whole store by myself with no help from the managers and wouldn't get a lunch tell close to time to leave or after we closed, I ended up getting fired because i had to go to the hospital and they DONT take doctor notes. Being understaffed is a huge problem there our night crew consist of 6 people to unload trucks and stock the whole store before they leave. Also during one of the busiest time of the year i only had 3 cashiers so we had lines always and no cart people. definitely got mentally drained from that place.

Mad respect for you working as a team lead you're not only the stores backbone but you truly get worked to the bone even more than I do when I'm the only cashier on a Saturday. I worked at the bakery as a cake decorator. I was always the only decorator from about 2pm-9pm. I would be there at 1pm and my manager and lead would leave an hour after I was gone. In the mornings they had our lead who was a decorator and another veteran decorator from 5 am to 2pm so they would get an appropriate amount of work done. Also helped because they were best friends so I was stuck alone with the late shift. I was doing everything in the bakery. While I was taking my 30 minute the bakery would have no one in it. So I was exhausted at the end of the day, limping with Carpal tunnel at my young age of 23. I would cry myself to sleep and even after all of that work and effort I was in the managers office every week being told I'll get fired if I didn't step my game up. The same manager who spent his work hours eating from demo carts and eating from the bakery scraps. Eventually he told me that someone overheard me saying that I do nothing and that when I come into work I complain about my job. Who doesn't complain, but I never did nothing. So I quit on the spot. My sister who worked in cafe was going to school full time and applied for part time, but her manager would schedule her part time for one week an the next he would forget and schedule her full time. It's a complete mess.

It's true about most everything. I've never been through the overtime deal. Our manager and team lead have no idea what they're doing. Our manager refuses to come near the department because it's "too cold and too bloody." Then she'll come and try to tell us what we're doing wrong. She doesn't know because she's never done the work or even knows how to do the work. Our team lead doesn't even know how to order a proper truck, doesn't help out when we're busy, runs around trying to spread gossip and stuff. Our store manager takes a full vacation every other month. Only time we see him is every few months when corporate is supposed to come. I like the job and the people I work with, but I have no respect for any manager or team leads in there. Our meat department manages ourselves. I'm not even going to get into the shady stuff that goes on in there. That would be a whole freakin book

I worked for Sam’s for 12 years. From night stocker all the way up to club manager. I dedicated some of the best years of my life (20’s) traveling city to city to fix, and run clubs. Interviewed for 4 clubs did not get them. They immediately demoted my friend who was a Club Manager and “placed” me as club manager of his club in a city that was far from my family, and I did not like. I hung in long enough to show what I could do then left for a better job opportunity closer to home. It was quite heartbreaking after so many lost holidays and time with family and dog missed. I do have to say the bit about you not getting paid for your time is no longer true though.

I'm about to start working there Monday as maintenance and I'm really looking forward to it. The club I was hired at seems really put together and the staff has been great already even through the hiring process. Seems like this video may have been done by a competitor to rub some smut on Sam's Club. All jobs have there good and bad aspects. You'll start to notice their's more managers and team leads then actual employees because it really is the only way to defend yourself against other managers because if not it is VERY WELL 😉 noted that corporate doesn't want managers team leads or coaches to do anything but be there and get paid way more to do absolutely nothing. It's encouraged to do what u feel is necessary by any means to get your employees to do what u say and keep mental control over the people who's under u. Avoid buying electronic items like the Apple TV device and the unlocked phones that are locked in the cage. The handling of items that are out of stock is poorly managed. Nobody bothers to put up a sign that says out of stock when the locked up items are out of stock. It sucks when you are told that items are sold out when you are at the checkout. That is just unacceptable and very upsetting.

For some reason, the Sam's Club in central Florida is full of Hispanic/Latinos. They hire other ethnicities here and there, but it's mainly Hispanic/Latino. Also, the management (along with the upper management) is all Hispanic/Latino. Some sort of discrimination/racism is occurring at the Sam's Clubs in central Florida.

I used to work for Sam's club for 5 years. And besides the unpaid over time everything they say here is true. In produce the closing shift employees are taken out of there department to work in the freezer cooler area. So if the closing shift had 6 pallets of items not worked it is left for the morning shift. When the morning shift arrives if four are scheduled they would normally take two away to once again work freezer/cooler or meat department. Leaving two to deal with the 6 unworked pallets from last night. But wait it gets worse. One has to do culling (inspecting and removing damaged food) and that person is culling the entire produce alone. The other has to restock the empty bins and dry items has to be restocked. Then you have to replenish the floral section. Then you have to work the pallets that were not filled out. Here's the fun part. You ready? The produce staff are scheduled at 6am they demand that all of this is ready by 8am. And if the delivery truck arrives the produce in the club i use to work in on a normal day would get 18 to 25 pallets. and if it arrived before we open that means if we received 25 we now have 31 pallets including the ones neglected from last night. Now the harassment by the store manager kicks in. He wants to you to hurry up with everything and wants it all done by 11am. This actually happened and it was very much an everyday occurrence. If you say anything to them you are not being a "team player" and are "being unprofessional" for speaking up for the unrealistic goals and expectations they want. One team lead even said to us "Don't want to complain? Then don't work here." After 5 years I finally got fed up I purposely called out until I got five points used up all my ppto and pto and let them fire me. Because of them I had panic attacks and the stress caused me to have horrible stomach pains. Now that I am gone from them I like where I work now and the stress is gone as is the stomach pain. But I still get some panic attacks but not so frequent. There is no point in complaining when the management doesn't care and HR sides with the management all the time. And another thing which they claim they don't do this but many employees believe that management does unannounced locker searches whenever they can't find equipments and falsely assume employees are hiding it.

I feel terrible for quitting, however with more than 15 years experience as a cashier/ customer service, they gave me a produce/stocker/receiver position…as a woman I felt it was too much on my body. It got so out of hand I had no choice but to quit after only 5 months. I felt the pay was decent but we where getting way too many boxes for how much we really needed so we basically had to throw ridiculous amounts of produce items to the garbage. Just terrible. I had to quit 😵‍💫🤮🥴🤒🤢😰🥵🥵🥵🤯🤯🤯😏😤😱😭🤭

@janinedivine2457 never feel bad for quitting because they just see you as another warm body to keep the seat warm. Sam's club sees you as a replaceable person that's why they are so cold to their employees.

I was there 2 years. I left 3 months ago for a much better opportunity and I'm so much happier. My proudest accomplishment was running an organizing campaign with UFCW for my last 9 months there. Because if anyone needs a union it's definitely Sam's Club. Even if we didn't get an election before I left it was a great experience I was proud to do, well worth it.

From previous experience from a club in central Florida, the club was dominated with Hispanic leadership. From team leads to market managers to vice presidents. Also, if you ever have an issue with any member of management, don't expect anything to happen because it appears that the members of the Hispanic community stick together and defend each other. This is a perfect example of racism. I'm surprised this is permitted.
