    Why am I torturing myself watching this at 5 in the a.m😭😫🤤 now I'm hungry😂 didnt know there were such thing as pepper dorborgee but im definitely gonna cook me a small amount mixed with bell peppers to eliminate the spiciness. Looks delicious! Growing up in a Congo home my mom never cooked dorborgee but it somehow became my FAVORITE food( i remember joining with my neighbor whenever they cooked it)any food that has dorborgee oil and soda in it I'd trade any other food I have for it🤣

    I wouldn't drain the water, it's the flavor you want. Removed most of the seeds, mixed with variety bell peppers and cook as usual

      Removing the seeds from the habanero peppers is time consuming so the best way is to drain the water. It still has flavor after draining. That’s why i recommend adding your seasoning last.

    May I ask why is the purpose of draining water a few times and what does baking soda do to the stew??,

    • @CookingwithWinn
      @CookingwithWinn  3 роки тому +2

      draining the water a few times help reduce the hotness/spiciness of the soup, and baking soda can be use in place of the Liberian soda to give the soup the torborgee appearance and flavor.

      Baking soda is a emulsifying agent. Blends the water and oil, adds a unique favor, and makes the soup alkaline. All this done for years by people who were not chemist- just amazing wisdom.

      It’s torborgee oil, you can find it in an African grocery store

    Does the soda add flavor ?

    • @CookingwithWinn
      @CookingwithWinn  3 роки тому

      sort of

    • @joyce1905
      @joyce1905 2 роки тому +1

      It blends the liquid and oil into a uniform solution and gives a great taste.

    Why do you use the baking soda?

    • @CookingwithWinn
      @CookingwithWinn  3 роки тому +1

      To basically show that baking soda does the same work as the other soda so if u can’t find the other soda, you can always use baking soda. I also love a lot of soda on my torborgee so i like to mix it up.

      Soda is an emulsifying agent. It blends the oil and water into a uniform solution, in this case soup. What I like most is that it makes the soup alkaline.

    One type of soda is enough

    • @CookingwithWinn
      @CookingwithWinn  3 роки тому +2

      If one type of soda is okay for you that’s fine but i like to mix my soda because i like the real torborghee taste.
