On May 11, 2013, Disney Princesses welcomed Merida from Pixar's "Brave" to officially become the 11th Disney Princess, along with Ariel, Aurora, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Mulan, Pocahontas, Snow White, Tiana, and Rapunzel. She was also joined by the first-ever appearance of her mother, Queen Elinor. The coronation ceremony took place in front of Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom.

I love how not elegant Merida is, she's normal in an amazing way! and i think it's funny how extremely dainty snowwhite is (that irritates me quite much) and it gets less with every princess who comes to the foreground.

I know this is an old comment but I think it's perfect how small Snow White is cause she is the youngest Disney Princess, being about 14 or so, the oldest princess is Aurora who is maybe 18 or 17 or something like that. They are all pretty young.

She's very pretty and she walk just like the cartoon version. I like Disney's tendency to explore various cultures with their princess, (and their movies in general) and celtic one's are among my favorites. Next they will probably add the Frozen sisters, and then Moana of polynesia. Say, as the son of Zeus, king of Olympus, isn't Hercules technically a prince? And then doesn't it make his wife a Disney Princess too? How come we never see Megara?
Somewhere in the future, I'd like to see a japanese princess, but I'm curious how far they could manage to differenciate her from Mulan while still making her kickass. The whole loyalty to the ruler and the family was pretty strong in feudal japan as much as in ancient china. Maybe some sort of bow wielding priestress, but she'd then have to be distinct from Merida as well.
Well, technically Hercules became a god like his father...so that doesn't make him a prince. At least, that would be my explanation of why Meg wouldn't be considered a princess. She's still one of the coolest female Disney characters though :)
And yes, I would love to see even more Disney Princesses from around the world! :D
Erika M His father is king of the gods, that should make Hercules prince of the gods in this version. (not in actual mithology since almost the whole pantheon is born from Zeus and they are all related somehow.)
Also, Hercules didn't become a god, even tough he could have, he choose a mortal life along side Megara on earth.

I kind of wish she'd shot an arrow through a ring of fire or something and proved her worth as the second 'can use a weapon' princess of Disney. Mulan is still best though.

To be fair, cutting your mother's embroidery in half, unrestorable... just because you're angry, is a dickmove.
And Elsa is far from the perfect doll, she freezes the entire country and stabs Anna in the heart with ice.
But at last she was trying to get Anna out of the castle befóre this'd happen.
Merida just took her sword and tried seeing how far she could go with her mother and then decided it'd be a good idea to destroy a family-heritage.

It doesn't matter if the heroine was a princess or not to be a Disney Princess. Mulan isn't royalty at all and she is an official Disney Princess member. At least Elsa was a princess .
Merida is honestly my favorite Disney princess. (Along with Belle, and Tiana on my list) She’s so different from the others. And also Elenors voice sounds like from the movie o.o

Mulan is a princess by title, rather than royalty. Back in ancient China, a woman who came from a very noble family (or received the highest honor like Mulan) were nicknamed princesses. So yes, Mulan is considered a princess.

I love the attention to detail; the actress playing Merida walks exactly like Merida does in the film, it's quite excellent.
As a Scottish person i felt the accents could have been better but still, it was pretty awesome.
Well, all I have to say is not all Americans can do accents xD So it's easy to spot that flaw but they more need to look the part generally
As a Scottish person I was actually quite surprised by how good they were, considering normally Americans can't do it a Scottish accent at all.
I am not saying she is not good, I have been hearing that she is apparently the nicest princess to approach over there but it would have been cooler if they got a scottish girl to do it. She is still awesome though.

Yes in 2014. Anna will be getting the princess coronation and Elsa will be getting a special coronation as the very first Disney Queen.
I think they're both going to be Disney princesses, regardless that Elsa is in fact already a queen. At least she's royal in her blood, unlike Mulan, who wasn't a princess, but was included in the lineup

That is what I thought, and if you watch videos of her interacting with kids she is fantastic and great
I simply think this is like making any short of cosplay. The person after the costume should be ready and wishing to play properly the character she/he is going for. It is not just being the exact outer look. They must enjoy it and also people.
Also, there would be young actress with childish faces(I've always had and I already have with 21, a really childish face), probably more accurated for Merida(look the one of Disneyland) or any other young Disney Princess, but that person should be wanting to play the rol of the character.
I even loved Merida's Mother there. They both were awesome hahah Merida's actress was so nervous and cute.
