@@makeupunlimitedIKR? I'm a child of the 70's and 80's. There truly is "nothing new under the sun". Except maybe the glowing nose look a few years back. I recall the "cut-crease" eyeshadow trend that was touted as "new". We were doing that in about '87, maybe earlier. 😊
I love the fact that drug store makeup were used for your latte look. It turned out beautiful! I also love the fact that you add historical perspective and information behind trends that started 100s of years ago and picked up again now with new nicknames. Thank you Lisa!

Have fun! When I was young I just wore a ton of black eyeliner and not much color. Now I’m experimenting more. Maybe because of social media wasn’t around when I was younger. I don’t know but it’s fun for me. None of my friends are beauty lovers though. I wish I could find a partner in crime. An enabler if you will.
When Lisa said “it’s easy” after showing how she conceals the cheeks with the same color already there just showed the genius of Lisa Eldridge and the years of wisdom and knowledge she possesses in her profession. I gasped. ❤❤❤❤❤
Browns are an all time classic and you never go wrong with them, it’s not a trend it’s a stablished “institution”. What an impeccable look you created 👌🏼🤩
Can you imagine shopping at Boots, looking up and seeing Lisa Eldridge shopping drugstore makeup?! That would be a double-take type of situation! This look is beautiful, as always. Such enjoyable, informative content. Thank you!
What I appreciate about this look is the fact that it is relatively easy to recreate and still looks very sophisticated and can be easily applied for an elegant night out.
As a historian myself I love when you go into the history of beauty and makeup. This look reminds me so much of the looks we wore in the mid 90's. Brown eyeshadow and brownish lipstick was THE look when I was in high school. So it's always interesting how the trends always make their way back around again. Especially interesting when you think to of how trends coincide, like Birkenstocks are now back in style and we wore those in the 90s as well.
Yes it seems like the way some 70s trends came back in the 90s, now both 70s and 90s trends have been back for a while, esp the 70s home decor trends. As a 90s kid, I love it
I think what's fascinating about the shortening of trends, is that I see it coinciding with the shortening of attention spans. We now live in an era of rapid technology creation and we as humans have been trained to be looking for the "newest" and "latest and greatest" at all times. Once something new comes, the old is out and forgotten - unless someone reinvents it or brings it back. I think it's cool that we have access to so many ideas today, but I also appreciate the simplicity and ingenuity of people in the past who had to get so creative with so little and yet still impact so much of what we do today! Love the look Lisa! Gorgeous as always! Also, Viseart's Petit Four quad in "Praline" is the perfect palette for the latte eye! :)
I love when you talk about the history of makeup…I bought Face Paint right when it came out and love it so much, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve reread it. I would absolutely love a new book from you…your knowledge and passion for the art of makeup is astounding!!!
It’s trending but also classic. I love what you said about making it your own. As a hair and makeup artist, I sometimes find certain trends like lash extensions and “the butterfly cut” to be just buzz words for something that does not suit everyone. Because it’s so big on social, people tend to think they MUST have or do that trend. Just because you can doesn’t mean you should!❤😊
My 26 yo daughter (an illustrator) had lunch with me looking like a cottage-core bog flower with a strawberry girl makeup look - and I couldn’t describe her to you without all these trends describing the plethora of looks out there!!! I love them and find they give some connection to art/history/geography to a very global media expanse. Love your latte look with just a touch of pink - brown and pink are so romantic together!
Latte and espresso make up trends are very wearable and classy trends. As always love Lisa’s spin on any trend. I think like you said, trends are just meant to be fun and I choose to follow what I like and ignore what I don’t 😊
What I find interesting (as a history buff in general) is WHY the trends are changing so quickly. I imagine it is partially due to the fact that people are inventing content every single day, and there is a non-stop race to have the next new idea. Social origins discussions are fascinating, don't you think? ❣️
I too purchased face paint. I have always loved makeup and started getting into trends in the late 60s as a young teenager. Always had Glamour magazine and couldn’t wait to get every month. I’m 69 now and stay current with UA-cam videos. I certainly don’t follow every trend, but I stay current and my 3 granddaughters see me as their skin care and makeup family guru. I’m fascinated by history of make up and trends and would love to find additional resources for learning. Mainly 20th century, Max Factor, Helena Rubenstein, Coty, all of it. I loved the video you did using the old recording of how to apply makeup and how far women have evolved in modern culture.
This look reminds me of your “Universally flattering makeup” which i have practiced on myself. As you said, take it and make it yours- makeup is meant to be fun, and this one is a great keeper! Nothing too outlandish.
I love doing my make up. I feel so relaxed, creative and happy. All my little brushes and pots. I love learning how to blend colours and tones. It is such a lovely morning ritual , even if it is just a bit of this and that ,I cherish the time with myself. Experimenting and adapting trends into my look is especially interesting. Sitting down in front of my vanity is a happy way to start my day.
One thing that's nice about lots of trends is the greater chance of finding a look that works for you. I would never have done the "cold girl" makeup, but it really plays up my natural coloring so I'm not fighting nature.
I've been participating in makeup trends since I was a teenager in the 70s and while I don't necessarily do my makeup according to any given trend I do find them really interesting to follow. I'm also interested in a peripheral way in the history of makeup, and really enjoy the videos you've make on the topic. Thanks so much for the wonderful content.
I see this trend all over and cannot help but think how perfect MAC's Groundwork for this is. Thank you Lisa for your take on this and I love that you used all drugstore makeup!
Dear Lisa, what an impeccable version of this 'latte trend' you created. You look so effortlessly classy, chic and elegant. 😍 As an 80's baby/milennial, I grew up seeing this trend and started rocking this mocha-neutral-brown make-up during my teenage years, during the last 90's -early 2000's era and never stopped. This became one of my go-to-look. Truly one of these timeless classic that can truly suit everyone imo.
The look turned out beautiful, imagine bumping into the elegant lisa in boots or superdrug...I absolutely love her and would live to see my face made up by her she has such a light touch make up never looks over fone or heavy ...just sheer perfection
I love that you only used concealer as a where-needed-only foundation! This look is really pretty. You’ve made me want to consider the darker 90’s lip liner again too. $5 for one to try is much better than $35-45 too!
Lisa, you have read my mind, darling! 😍 I have been attempting the Latte Makeup trend for the past month or so...still haven't quite nailed it and this tutorial is EXACTLY what this 50 year old needed...thank you!! 😘
Usually, I don't lean toward a full-on brown/warm makeup look...but now that I see how you've really made it work, I think I'm going to give it a go. You look beautiful. Thank You for this tutorial🤎
I like this latte look. Concerning trends, I put on my face what I like and how I prefer it. I am an adult and know how to do my make up. Your lipstick is often part of my make up!
It's so much fun to experiment with new trends, but it can also be difficult to afford to keep up so I appreciate that Lisa provided a drugstore version. Also, I think this one looks so beautiful that I would want to keep wearing it even when the trend dies down.
I too love a trend, however in the form of art. I thoroughly believe in inspiration and we're living in a wheel of art that continues to turn bringing back older favourites with a twist. I work as a counsellor and can also see the potential damage of trends and how they can add a form of anxiety to keep up and in this era we're seeing trends like you said come and go so quickly. So all in all yes, trends are good from an artistic point of view but don't forget the importance and celebration of individuality and uniqueness.
Loved this look, Lisa! As you said, knowledge in makeup has progressed so much that a lot of looks can find their inspiration in history. But in terms of what we wear on a day-to-day basis, I think that it'll still be low maintenance and easy to put on - regardless of trends. This is mainly in part due to our ever increasingly hectic lifestyles. Classic styles will never go out of fashion simply because they are tried and true ways to enhance our facial features while giving us room to adapt. I think it will be interesting to witness truly innovative styles in the future. We've done anti-pretty, glam, anti-glam, hyperreal shine etc. I would even venture to say that the time of the pandemic was a "style" in itself when we didn't expect the same level of grooming when we met our colleagues. However, I hope that we will be celebrating our diversity of beauty rather than converging on a singular look. Unfortunately, it seems like years and years of exalting similar types of beauty, combined with the advancement of plastic surgery and AI, seem to be leading us on the path of convergent beauty.
I so enjoy your videos. No hype, no dramatics, just great advice. Best advice I’ve gotten from you is that foundation isn’t meant to cover all the spots and pigmentation vs pinpoint application of concealer.
Beautiful as always! I’ve been watching your videos since 2011, I actually LEARNED how to be a makeup artist from you! I went on to work for Chanel for almost four years. Your voice instantly transports me back to when I first started my makeup journey. You are the best teacher and I will forever watch your videos and be thankful for you Lisa ❤❤ I hope I can meet you one day and give you the biggest hug!
trends these days feel more and more like ideas to sell more products to people out there and get more clicks on social media. nobody can keep up with these „trends“ tbh, so it‘s refreshing to see someone like you who shows us great techniques so we can take whatever suits us from these routines and make it our own. thank you for another great video 😊
Dear Lisa, this look looks lovely and youthful on you! It is definitely a sophisticated version of the trend , and it will be lively to copy it watching your tutorial and looking in the mirror with a set of brushes at hand! The most interesting part is -as usual - your thoughtful observations of the time we are living at... Many people physically feel that time is going on faster than it used to.. I don't know if that is why everything is so short living these days?
I love anything to do with makeup, how people are wearing it, which shades they are wearing false eyelashes, bare eyelashes, thick brows, thin and no brows..it’s all magic, I started in 1973 at 13 with miners and Mary quant now 63 and love Chanel & Lisa Eldridge..will love it til I croak..xx
I absolutely love Lisa and her videos. She’s the best makeup artist to me. Also, I love when she talks about the history of makeup. She’s passionate you can tell and that’s why she’s the best! And oh, her makeup line products is AMAZING!
I have been your follower from your start on You tube. Have been muah for almost three decades and my rule of thumb is. Don't necessarily follow trends, make them. Love the kind of monochromatic makeup you did. ❤ so fresh and uplifting.
It's interesting how trends always return. As you said, this look has been around for a long time. This was my go to look in the late 80's, early 90's. I also add a hint of pink blush to my bronze look, it's a great tip! Also Lisa, would love to see a hair tutorial!
I love this look on you and also love that you took a trend and made it the most flattering to your specific coloring. I feel like what is flattering has gone out the window with the everybody can wear or do anything era. Sure, everyone has the inherent right to wear something that isn‘t the most flattering if that is their choice and they feel good, but it’s silly to pretend everyone looks good in everything. It’s very smart to know what flatters your skin and body type, IMO. I don’t know why we expect every line and every product to serve every person out there. There are plenty of things that aren’t for me out there and that is just fine.
Beautiful tutorial. Love the fact it was adapted to drug store products. For those who love high end products, I like using the Diorshow 5 couleurs in shade 689 Mitzah to achieve the same eye look.
Thanks so much for using drugstore make up, Lisa. I also appreciated the tip on using the same brush for bronzer, blusher and highlighter to keep the cheeks so looking natural.
I enjoy all these trend looks partly to update a bit and partly to revisit previous looks. I’m 61 and still love makeup as much as I did in my teens. It’s fun to rediscover old trends in a new way and adapt them to modern formulas (and my own changing appearance). I did a similar version of this with some of your eyeshadows that I already had but with a rose brown lip (less corpse like with silver hair 😂). Liked it so much I’ve been sticking with it for weeks! Loved this look you did and all the (as always) useful tips ❤
I think you’re spot on right about trends and find it really interesting how quickly everything rolls over and doesn’t seem to last these days.. because of technology, we are living in such a fast paced, temporary wave of things- where not enough is cherished & or permanent.. It’s ok to change things up, but sometimes I do wish some things would slow down a bit more. It can remove the joy of makeup, because of the ever pressing rush, to be “on to the next new thing” hope that all made sense🤷🏻♀️ and I love history so to combine that with makeup is just the cherry on top! ❤ thanks Lisa- I love the latte look and it’s my typical go-to, on the daily❤
I love this makeup, I use to work on a Clarins counter. This kind of look was basically what I did as a basis make up that I wore nearly every day. So gorgeous - I love it!!!!!
I learned how to do my makeup from your videos years ago - particularly how to build a base that feels and looks natural. I've experimented with my techniques since then but always based it off your philosophy. Was delighted to see that you applied that camo concealer in the same way I do -- or more accurately, to learn that I apply mine the way you do! Thank you for all these wonderful videos and teaching me everything I know :)
I love the latte look. My 3 absolute fav products for this look: 1. Almay healthy hue blush in nearly nude... which is this gorgeous luminous brown blush. 2. Almay lip vibes lipstick in Call Out... which is a lovely rosy brown cream lipstick 3. NXY Fat Oil Lip Drip in Status Update... on medium skin this is a beautiful brown nude Almay does not get a lot of love, but I like how their packaging uses less plastic, and genuinely love these two products! That blush is perfect for fall, and it's so dense, it will last you forever.
I really wasn't keen on the latte look initially...too many memories of the 90s and looking like I was in a Ken Russell movie. However, this is beautiful...I guess the new formulations and range of products has made the look far more elegant (& Lisa's glorious style obviously!). I agree that trends are far more technology and formulation lead which is fantastic. I love that there are so many different 'faces' you can try now...lots of scope to have fun, try new things & keep your makeup fresh instead of ending up wearing the same look forever. I'm in my early 50s & enjoying trying new make-up more than ever!❤
The latte makeup trend looks like it was made for you, Lisa. Simple in concept but appears gorgeous against your brunette hair & warm eyes. Personally, be it latte makeup or strawberry makeup or whatever trend, they inspire me to recreate it with my own spin on it :). Love this video & topic so much…we’re so lucky to have access to such a talented makeup artist such as yourself, Lisa. Hello to Ted!!! ❌🅾️🤎☕️
Well, your “2 cents” are definitely worth listening to, Lady Eldridge 😊 especially with the soundtrack of your voice 😍❤️ Beautiful make up, and as always great info and tips 😉
As always, a lovely makeup, does remind me of what I was doing in the nineties. Love the historical perspective. I am seeing a musical tonight and I think I’ll try this!!
Hi Lisa, It's always such a pleasure to watch your videos and hear you talk about makeup so passionately. I love makeup and I wear makeup since I was a teenager (even before :-)). Even though I've learned a lot about different styles/trends and how to's by the makeup artists like yourself, I'm not really a fan to follow trends if they don't suit me and my face. I really stick to a style of my own and I mostly wear the same type of makeup with little nuances here and there. I love and admire great beauties of the past (I truly find them more beautiful, Elizabeth Taylor, Ava Gardner, Vivian Leigh, Gina Lolobrigida, Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyne Monroe, Brigitte Bardot, etc...). Each one of them had found (or maybe their makeup artist had found) a certain makeup which was specifically made for them, which matched their traits. And they stuck to that makeup till the end of their lives. They never changed their makeup even in their older years and never really cared about new trends. Their makeup became a trend in itself. And I love that. That is the best trend to follow for me. To find your own style of makeup which best enhances your beauty and matches your facial traits. As for this last trend, the Latte makeup, it is a beautiful one which as you suggested, can suit everyone with a little twist. I like it too. Lots of hugs from Paris xoxo
Im only a few minutes in and felt compelled to comment. Lisa thank you for acknowledging drug store make up. As well as loving your products I absolutely enjoy more affordable makeup too. Again you show real integrity because I cannot imagine any other mua/ brand owner doing a video like this. The way in which you talk about the products is also refreshing. Please keep doing what you are doing because I am living for it. With love xxx😘
Hi Lisa, I adore your take on this look, and I appreciate you using drugstore. I was hoping you could please do a long wearing drugstore bridal look. I love your artistry!
This monochrome brown makeup looks gorgeous. It's so amazing that with these brownish and bronzy makeup products different looks can be created on different complexions.
I consider fast trends a search. The objective depends on every person. Some look for fun, fame, some for money, some their own ideal make up. If someone goes after every trend... I think he/she spends too much time in front of screens. In my humble opinion. It's always a pleasure to watch Lisa working.
I love your passion for the history of makeup, as a history graduate it makes me want to return to my studies to study the history of makeup! Beautiful latte look Lisa. I love this trend too ❤
Yay! I was missing these types of videos, they are so uplifting! Trends go fast and can be overwhelming, but your take on adapting them to your own self makes a difference. Thank you!
You elevate makeup and I think this sums everything up. Ms. Lisa Eldridge: I love your elegance, your knowledge about the History of makeup and its techniques. Some people are just sellers and come across as quite well...cheap underneath all the show they put on. For me, you really embody the spirit of elegance and perfection in all you work. Thank you so much! (ps. bought and loved you book, pleaaaaaaaaase make more!!) best regards from Portugal
Thank you Lisa! It's fun to see you in drug store makeup and help too. I'd be so grateful for drug store brush suggestions. The trends are so fun to watch!
Make-up trends nowadays follow the fast fashion industry as it happens in garments! True class and elegance always stands out! The tip for concealing was great! Greetings from Greece and a great fan!
My son is a historian, so I love the historic perspective because he does. As a person who loves makeup, I love seeing the trends and I test them out if I already have the products… if I don’t have the products for a trend I love, yes, I go to the shops
I do love a trend, but I especially love seeing Lisa’s elevated version of the trend 🤩
Thank you xx

I work as a counsellor and can also see the potential damage of trends and how they can add a form of anxiety to keep up and in this era we're seeing trends like you said come and go so quickly. So all in all yes, trends are good from an artistic point of view but don't forget the importance and celebration of individuality and uniqueness.
Individuality is the keyword. I totally agree
Loved the spot-concealing tip of using the leftover products on your hand. Genius!
Glad it was helpful! 😘😘😘
Lisa, you are the best artist and character on UA-cam, so happy you are still doing videos for us so many years on. ❤❤❤
Also love your earrings as well as the makeup Lisa x
😘😘😘
Thank you for another great video, Lisa! That NYX Nude Truffle lip liner is a favorite
I love that NYX eyeshadow palette. I’m on my second one in the last 4 years. This trend is so pretty a wearable for everyday and work.
This has always been my favorite style of makeup. Very 90s. Loved it! Absolutely beautiful
I also have to add a bit of pink (to cheek & lip) to make this trend fit my complexion. Great tip!
You wear a brown no-makeup makeup eye look so beautifully, Lisa. Thank you for this inspiration and for featuring drugstore/high street products!!!
I've been really into one-shadow looks too! If you use a good shimmer you still get a nice depth and highlight effect just with one shade
Beautiful look, despite it being drugstore, you made it look very expensive. ❤ Masterclass! 🙌🏻
Absolutely LOVE this look! It’s so quick and effortless!
You apply makeup like an artist painting on a canvas. Really refreshing and beautiful.
So nice of you to do a tutorial again using affordable products! I also wonder which of your products would suit this look.
I love the latte look. My 3 absolute fav products for this look:
1. Almay healthy hue blush in nearly nude... which is this gorgeous luminous brown blush.
2. Almay lip vibes lipstick in Call Out... which is a lovely rosy brown cream lipstick
3. NXY Fat Oil Lip Drip in Status Update... on medium skin this is a beautiful brown nude
Almay does not get a lot of love, but I like how their packaging uses less plastic, and genuinely love these two products! That blush is perfect for fall, and it's so dense, it will last you forever.
This looks so gorgeous on you! I would love to see this look with all luxury products and all natural products too! 🤎
I will always love a 90s brown makeup. Really enjoyed the variety of products, too. Thank you.
So pleased you enjoyed it, thank you xx
Yes! I don’t use primer with the Elf Camo concealer when I’m on the go and it always melts into my skin quite nicely
I always adore your historical framing for the art of cosmetics❤
Lisa - your skin!! What are you doing? Seriously GORGEOUS!!
I need that fraction of pink , too always! I love your version❤
❤️❤️❤️
Came across your channel and I have to say I can listen to you talk all day long. The class and style and tone of yours is so mesmerizing.
Thank you!
Absolutely love these understated kinda makeup looks which are not really common with most trends nowadays. Such a stunning finished look!! 😍
You’re a makeup history class, makeup masterclass and life lessons, all in one!
I love the 90s revival!
Great to see you using so many cruelty free products 🙏
Loved the video xx
😘😘😘
My son is a historian, so I love the historic perspective because he does. As a person who loves makeup, I love seeing the trends and I test them out if I already have the products… if I don’t have the products for a trend I love, yes, I go to the shops
Absolutely gorgeous ❤ Watching your videos for over 10 years, and they’re still so fascinating. Happy to learn from them 🫶🏼
Thank you so much for watching for all these years ! X
Lisa that eyeshadow makes your eyes glow. Stunning!!
Lovely look! I finnished it off with a pop of red on the cheeks to bring my face back to life and it looked awesesome!
I love that you no longer speed up through your process ❤
The bit about trends vs time is so interesting!
Agreed about the trends and I love the input of Lisa, the makeup historian! Lovely look.
