Uhm. I’m both? I use both at the same time. I use a ts9 which is about to be replaced by the Dino vacated signature drive. Then I have the 33. It gives me the perfect combo of saturation, tightness, and articulation that I need.
Thanks Mel, I didn't actually know the difference. I prefer the Booster, it colours the signal less. As always, been a pleasure to learn something quickly. Cheers!.
The boost pedals just sound so much more natural. Plus, I feel like the simplicity and quality of Orange Amps is just such a winning candidate for being paired with a booster. Fortin 33 FTW. This was very informative, cheers!
Fantastic video!! VERY informative. I've used overdrives my entire life until about a year ago when I ran across the 33. Still love my MXR GT-OD but the 33 just cuts through more although I have to use a digital distortion in my fx unit after the 33 to get the amount of gain I want (I'm a gain fanatic lol) looking at the Tempest right now 😁
I never use them on my thrasher 50 head or nts plug-in, but if I played a 5150, recto, powerball... basically any muddy preamp, definitely the od would be my choice, as I just would want really just giving those fart noises a usable voice, rather than a "boost." I have used boosters like the facepunch for clean tones when coil tapping to give it the same amount of volume as a high gain bridge humbucker. I have been experimenting with graphic eq pedals as boosts on plug-ins and preamps and loving the results as well
For me, it depends on the input gain design. That’s critical. Just gimme’ a Grind and I’ll shut up and go to work like my Mum used screech at me at 2 O’clock in the afternoon everyday. LTFOL!!! Miss ya Mike!!!
Are you Team Overdrive or Team Boost and why / what's your rig?
Team Boost all the way! I can't imagine Neural DSP/Fortin Suites without grind on :-]
I gotta have both! Too many situations where both come in handy! Love these products so much!
That's what I call a thuroughl explanation
Much thanks

@@iamhated1292 good call. Orange amps HAVE that saturation so the boost definitely helps keep things tidy

I literally didn't know the difference between overdrives or boosters until today. This is invaluable.
You best know. Since you demoed out the Fortin stuff not too long ago :P!

Thanks for the love Mark! The 33 is definitely a popular choice!
Mel and fortin have given the keys to the kingdom enough times to really drive home just how much you NEED these.
This was so well explained!! Mel, you certainly have a teaching gift that is for sure.
Glad you think so! Please share this with your friends who would need the knowledge!
probably the best explanation on the internet
Thanks man! What part's stuck out to you man?
@@MelTorres the visuals in the DAW, they really help drive home the points and bring to life what you are talking about
I’ve always wanted to know this!! Amazing info thank you🙏🙏
Booster = Lead
Drive/ Distortion = Rhythm
Holy sht this guy is a genius by having the explanation simple even for noobs
The only thing is missing why not showing using both od and booster
Damn boosters really do make a huge diff
We use em in almost every one of our recordings now :)

Well you know lol

Overdrives vs Boosts are definitely a contextual thing for sure!

Hey look a Legator Ninja
Amazing
Thanks Deedee!
I overdrive my boosts for distortion and phase my choruses to flange, then I reverberate my spring delays until they shimmer
