I mounted guard at Buckingham Palace in 1976 with the 1st Bn The Royal Green Jackets. Happy memories not only of the actual guard and the hand signals used when double mounted and the ones we made up because the Queen or another senior royal was in residence but the hysterics as a Csgt from the Irish Guards tried and eventually succeeded in teaching us in the Antitank Platoon how to march at tick tock pace in Dover..
You must have been watching 👀 a different film...one bandstand might have been slightly out of step....but thats to be expected sometimes when you've been stood to for ages and are suddenly thrust into 120 paces per minute...
