- Yes, I finally watched the Japanese BL drama called 30-sai made Doutei dato Mahoutsukai ni Narerurashii!
In the beginning, I thought this was a movie so when I sat down to watch it, I was shocked to see that it was a drama! Those 12 eps (plus the specials) sure kept me satisfied ☺
I'm actually looking forward to more recommendations from y'all 👀

I thought it was very cute. Minato was adorable and I love that his actor is always down to kiss guys for the paycheck. Lol honesty, I can respect that. A king after that coin.
Thank you for the recommendation Josh! Have you read Sasaki to Miyano? It's a slice of life, shoujo manga about two boys falling in love. While it's genre is not Boy's Love, like Cherry Magic, it moves past tropes and stereotypes of same-sex couples in manga (in this case, boy's love) and avoids many pitfalls in romance manga. It's getting an anime adaptation on January on 2022!

I have similar opinion. The second couple did not spark so much joy. I am not into JPN drama because OMG I am from Brazil and our novelas are in a complete different level, so I don't know how to enjoy JPN dramas, but this one I watched the 12 eps and checked out the other 2 specials too. I sort of fast-forwarded the specials just to say I had a look at them but yeah. It was cute, that is all I can say.

Kinou Nani Tabeta? (it has cooking in it and is an adaption of a Fumi Yoshinage Manga.. very heart warming)
Where Your Eyes Linger (story is a bit meh, but the chemistry, ohhh)
Restart After Come Back Home (movie, and Oh.so.nice)
censored BL "Bromance" from China:
The Untamed (incredible amount of good looking guys and very good music and Ost. Tons of fanfic.)
Word of Honor (the big one of this year, that may be the reason there are no BL relases from the big country this year anymore -_-)
Anime/Donghua from China (a bit censored, but not as much as the dramas):
Grand Master of Demonic Cultivation (complete, the animation to the Untamed drama)
Heaven Officials Blessing (from the the author that wrote the novel of the Untamed, very beautiful animation)
As well as scumbag system the Chinese donghua which is form the same person who made heaven officials blessing, and mdzs

Hey Josh! I'm glad you watched Cherry Mahou 😄 and I'm here again~ hahaha recently, I just finished "My Love Mix-Up!" or "Kieta Hatsukoi" on Netflix. I didn't expect Malaysian Netflix to have a JP BL show, so at first I thought that Kieta Hatsukoi was a hetero romance series.... 😅 but yeah, the drama was really good and the uke was sooo cutteeee 🥺🥺 I hope you see this comment and give the BL story a go!
You can consider my mom an empath, but in the knowing category. So, she can literally feel when you're upset, and it depends on the day how I feel about it. You can consider it mindreading when she asks "Why are you so stressed at the moment? Ohh, is it the school thing? No... it your crush isn't it?" And you just got rejected by your crush. She gives really good advice, but it feel like an evasion of privacy sometimes though. Most of the time I'm fine with it, because I got used to it. I'm also an empath, but I don't do much with it.

There are a number of great Japanese dramas that aren't cringy. That would be an interesting comparison to see the frequency comparison across nationalities. And what is cringy? I feel it's definition could vary.

For recommendations I think you might also like Gameboys the series (a pandemic love story), Until We Meet Again (soulmate reincarnated), He’s Coming to Me (supernatural mystery) and for more adult characters and a complex, action/suspense story line you might like Killer and Healer my number one favourite and which is exquisitely done in all aspects. These are at the same level of quality and care as Cherry Magic which is my fave Japanese BL too 💕

I would highly reccomend you to watch Kinou nani tabeta? (What Did You Eat Yesterday?), a Japanese live-action adaptation of a gay cooking manga. It’s just outstanding in every single metric.

First, the instant you said Mister Perfect, I thought of Mr. 100% Perfect by Hobaen (manhwa, available in english on tapas). Season one was pretty short and I absolutely recommend it if you haven't read it already.
Second, I also had fears of cringe because it was a japanese live action just like you! The beginning and middle was really enjoyable. I had some level of cringe towards the end. But it was awesome for my first live BL and the beginning and middle were really fantastic

Well, personally I've watched only 'Love by chance' and it've bought me, just 've bought me. Yess i love and enjoyed this bl drama alot XD but... in 7:32 i laughed alot at that part 😂 i relate to tsuki though i ever panicked similar like Tsuki in my room at 1pm but not about like that is just about a stupid situation that i did before more than a few times 🤣😅

i also didnt like the second couple.... it was total cringe! the the main couple was everything i wanted lol but i just wanted ONE kiss scene!! Not even nothing spicy like history 4 JUST NE KISS!! But other than that I loved it to pieces! finished in one sitting lol
