I still don't know much about Sasaki to Miyano streaming on AniOne's channel. I only saw news about it on twitter so let's wait and see.

Hello Josh, I would like to echo the comment another user made. SasaMiya isn't a BL anime, as an Boy's Love. One of the labels it's published in Japan is shoujo. However, there's very clear inspirations from the BL genre. SasaMiya is heavy slice of life, or Boy's Life, as the author calls it. I personally think it's inaccurate to compare it to other Boy's Love anime because in Japan it's not treated as such (genre-wise), so it wouldn't get the same treatment as other anime labeled as Boy's Love such as the series Blue Lynx has worked with. Also a short correction, Ogasawara doesn't want to be labeled as an "uke," (a term in Boy's Love that includes more than being a bottom) not a bottom.
I agree that there's a shit ton of missinformation around this series because the BL = unhealthy and NSFW gay relationships. I hope everyone that gives the series a chance enjoys this soft and fluffy LBGT+ anime :3. SasaMiya is wholesome only 💖. Nevertheless, many thanks for the video! SasaMiya is cute series (that has a side series with Hirano and Kagiura; mirrors Boy's Love once again, but it's heavy in the slice of life with even less BL tropes because neither reads BL/is a fudanshi).
@@eirlies Yup, it's because of the Yen Press' translation. In the drama CDs were Ogasawara mentions BL, he says "uke." The translatation really doesn't do the original manga any justice.
Omg I love Hirano to Kagiura. Their character’s are interesting and their dynamic feels a lot more fresh (even though it’s a cliche at first glance). Of course there is the few quips of BL from the main two since this is a side story but other than that, yeah there’s no talk about tropes from them. Just two guys who are roommates.

Interesting fact: there are actual cases in Japan, fairly recently, where they make students dye their hair if it’s not dark enough. Even if it’s their natural hair color. And I find that really messed up.
The need to conform and to be all the same really is extreme(ly) unhealthy is such cases, regardless of tradition or cultural differences. It's perfectly fine to expect neatness and a level of unity suited for school (in work and appearance, like not allowing someone to come dressed in a clown costume to school or demanding a specific way of wearing the uniform) but this is too much. Common sense needs to kick in sometime right?

I really love sasaki to Miyano and it's my favorite bl so far. When i read it i had this fuzzy feeling and now when i watch the anime Episodes i cant stop smiling. It's just so cute

I don't get why some people are so eager with things being completely clean? or that wholesome fluffy BL (or boys slice of life in this case) is inherently better than R-18 BL. I sometimes read BL with sex in it, what am I then, devil incarnate?
Tbh don't really get why the author tries to adamantly separate their work from the genre (as the romance is typical for a BL-delinquent+cute nerd trope). Maybe to deconstruct the trope? Idk. Also it kind of reinforces the stereotype that BL is all cheap mindless seme-uke hentai and saying "yeah i'm not like the OTHERS". But I'm kind of guessing what the author is trying to do, more power to them.
I'm kind of confused and sad the BL genre/tag has such a curse and negativity linked to it. Maybe we should start changing how people percieve the genre and fans and introduce that variety instead of trying to detach ourselves from it like "nope I don't know her". I know the latter is easier and quicker though, it could take years for the former to take place. Just my two cents

You just get yourself a subscriber. Im a gay man live next to your country and enjoyed BL sparsely... The smut, porn and kinks are fine to me, idc... But the only thing that is soo discouraged me to read or watch BL/yaoi/shounen-ai genre is the weirdness of their relationship... Sometimes it's very hot and cold, and the zero percent of communication skills really bothered me... Like seriously, just fucking talk about your feeling and insecurities, it all just end in two chapter, i dont need to read 10 chapters of them brooding and angst ridden plot.
But this one... Oh no.... Sasaki to Miyano completely depicted almost too realistic gay couple dynamic. They talk, they compromise, they know how to restrain and release the tension very well.. It's soooo good, it almost feel like a fantasy (coz it's kinda too good to be true)... Fluff factors are off the chart, very warm and fuzzy.
