Do I regret swapping a mk1 Suzuki Bandit 600N for a 1999 Yamaha Fazer 600
The Fazer uses a motor based on the old Thundercat 600, which in itself (iirc) was based on the FZR600 before that. Watercooled, good spread of power.
The Bandit engine dates back from sometime when man first left the cave. An air / oil cooled unit (rather than watercooled) makes it slightly less refined but the simplicity does tend to make it bombproof, but a little breathless in comparison.
The Fazer uses the same calipers that were on the original R1 sportsbike (very good brakes), the Bandit ones date back to when man first started to carve things from stone
Things like this that just all add up to quite different feeling machines.
TBH it all depends what you want from biking.
Are you getting a bike to be used as a commuter hack? Bandit as it's so simple and cheap to fix if goes wrong / you drop it.
If you're more looking for a machine for the occasional weekend blast for fun? Fazer / Hornet. Not saying the Bandit isn't suitable for this (it is, it's a good bike), just that IMO the more modern feel of the former is more suitable for this sort of use.

I don't know what it is about bikes, but all us bikers seem to be the same in this respect, no matter what bike we have we're always looking at other bikes and thinking about what else we can get next 🙂

Stand offs are a nightmare. I saw someone do it with a lorry once and the poor lorry driver was stuck for ages

Personally I think the Faser looks nicer than the Bandit. Need to rev them a bit to get the best out of the motor

Sensational view of the coast! I guess it’s always a gamble to a degree when purchasing a second hand bike, sounds like this one has plenty of positives though. ✌️
It's mostly good. Definitely a loose wire making the indicators go funny. Easy fix though
Ah fair, a chopped up front bit would be less than ideal. That said, I do prefer the Fazer over a bandit. Just preference looks wise more than anything else. I do prefer the engine too even though you have to rev them a fair bit more.
An ADV yokey would be nice, I'd like one for the size. Bring that Fazer on an auld track day :P
The Bandit was definitely smoother but the fazer works well if you rev it hard. I had a car a bit too close to my rear yesterday, a quick blip of the throttle soon widened the gap.

I do like the Fazer but nothing beats the KAWASAKI Z1000sx such good value, come and join the sx club! That said I am keen to try the new susuki tourer.
They cost between £5k-£8k in the UK. They look fun though. I think the future has a sports tourer and a silly little bike for me

If you don't want to get your car dirty, don't drive it down a country lane. You can't see it in the video but the road takes a bit of a dip next to me. I couldn't move any further.
The bike looks awesome mate, and will offer a bit more than the bandit in terms of speed, braking, handling and touring potential. However I can't believe you got Nathan and Ed mixed up. 🤣

You can have usually tell by whether they have jam, or cream on their noses. I’m sure I spotted jam, meaning they be Devners. Probably posing as Cornish to save embarrassment 😊

One laned roads are bloody lethal to be fair, they are all national speed limit as well ahah
Wiring issues seemed to be caused when people make them streetfighters, I personally prefer the front fairing on a Fazer, I honestly don't understand why people crop them.
Have the carbs been cleaned and balanced?
When I had a Fazer I stripped the front forks and then repainted them, they look good in black.
I'm not going to do much to it. I think I can buff the forks out

I don't want to get too swept up in it because I want a different bike next year but I'll do the simple stuff
Really interesting, ive been asked the same about the Transalp, it's taken a bit of Money and time but it's wayyy better! If you have an idea of what needs doing work on it and it's interesting to see what could happen. What about the handling compared to the bandit? ERs idea if fork oil might make a difference! I'll talk about handling in another video. It's got a dodgy front tyre so I'm not confident on it yet. Getting a new tyre on Friday though
I think the Fazer cosmetically looks a lot better than the Bandit but I'm sure you'll do something about that soon enough 🤪

Hello. I have fazer like this, it is my first bike. I bought it like a naked version, from my friend. He put Koso speedometer on it, and mt03 headlight, but I will probably need to put back the original speedometer, and I wanted to ask you, did you use an original holder, or you made something custom?

Did you have the bandit for a long time? I always find you have a settling in time when moving from a bike that you own for a few years. New tyres and your own mark might make it more for you 👌
I had the Bandit for about 3 years. The fazer is very easy to ride but I hope it handles corners better when I get a new front tyre.

I had a Yamaha fzx750 years ago. I think they were the original 'fazer'. Worst bike I ever had. I've never ridden Yamaha since.
I took the fazer on a long ride (about 10 hours) to see if I would gell with it, it never happened. I ended up buying a Himalayan and swapping the fazer for a Honda c90
1986 faze is way nicer bike . This is an ugly bike mate!🤪
