Haven’t had this since the 90’s. I remember seeing a red bean gumbo recipe in the New Orleans Cookbook by Rima and Richard Collin. Published in 87. Good to see a video too. Bet it’s tasty!
Talk about Good! 😍😋 One of my favorites to make. Been making RBG for many years. I'm surprised still so many ppl haven't heard of it. Enjoyed watching. New friend and sub here 👋
Thank you so much!!! I’m just starting this videography this so I hope the videos are not too basic… looking forward to publish long much more… thanks for the engagement!!
I’ve lived in Lafayette all my life and had never heard of Red Beans Gumbo. I had it for the first time at the levee bonfires and IT WAS AWESOME!!! I’m determined to make it part of my Cajun cooking repertoire!! I guess it’s just a river parishes thing for now because it’s still a relatively new recipe. Dang it’s so good though!!!
Thank you my brother from Grand Caillou Louisiana, Merry Christmas

It’s sooo good. Not to many people know it tho.
Mr Boudreaux - Really looking forward to making this. More importantly, I need to know where you got that playset in the background!
Haha thanks I can’t wait to hear what you think. That play set was hand built by yours truly. It only took about a year to complete lol
Looks great. I would use Camellia beans though.
I love my Camellias but this one recipe I can say comes out better with the BR … I’ve done it both ways before that’s just my opion
This is AWESOME! Do the dog in thang
Thanks
I made a vegetarian version with 15 bean soup beans. So good! I love gumbo!!!
Do I put the cooked bacon into the gumbo too? Thanks
I just used the fat but you could. It was a chef snack for me
Been wanting to make a gumbo. Never have and now is the time!
This was isn’t traditional but it sure is good !!
could you use dried red beans
You could but for this I find it comes out better with the blue runners
I love me some red bean gumbo
It’s so good!
How many people do think this recipe would feed? I got about 15 folks that I want to cook this for.
This will do it with some leftover
@@BoudreauxsBackyard Thank you, love the videos!

No problem here with this video.
I normally won't watch really long drawn out vids. Now I'm ready to cook this again 😂

@@tlandry9689 I'm sure you had a good one @ our bonfires 🔥
You must live in the River Parishes. A friend of mine in Garyville turned me on to cooking that stuff. It's some kinda good yeah.
I do… I’ve never really seen it any other place outside River parishes. Sad because the stuff is amazing.
That is red beans and rice! It has no gumbo ingredients!
it's the roux.
There is no such thing as bean gumbo!
you can make gumbo out of any kind of protein, even beans. you can even make it with a ton of different greens if you like.
