Oddly enough, my mom's reaction to learning that mah boi _Milo Yiannapolis_ was the parade marshal (along with several regular old gay couples) participating in it was to conclude that the point of the parade is "Hey LGBT community, if you want to be treated as normal, act normal, not... what you guys are doing lately and demanding special treatment for *every* single thing." She was really, _really_ confused why anyone was protesting the parade in the first place.

There is a whole host of countries and governments lining up to have their beers held.
The cops spread the word on social media prior to the event that certain items would be prohibited, including weapons, shields, etc. One of the arrests was a guy who had a shield and wouldn't surrender it, and he fought the cops that tried to take it from him. The VP of the cops' union also reported that they were pelted with bottles of urine and milkshakes of unknown contents. Maybe that explains why there were arrests. Sounds like provocation to me.

I have a theory about why people who got upset about the straight pride got upset... After like a decade of gay pride and gay rights being put in the spotlight, I think a lot of these people found themselves in a position where they were rather privileged in that they could pretty much do what they want and anyone who confronts them, they point and shout "bigot" and instantly got support.
Now that people are picking up on the bullshit and beginning to troll these crybullies, they sense their privileged position being threatened because they're beginning to be treated just like everyone else..... And that terrifies them.

I just typed in UA-cam "Straight Pride Parade" because I wanted to see how it looked like and who were the speakers etc. And I couldn't even find this video by Sargon with exact same words as a title. All you can see are videos by CBS, ABC, Boston News, late night shows bashing the event. I just wanted to see how it was like there... damn it.
Seeing everything in terms of identity politics and "oppression" 24/7 must be deeply exhausting and debilitating to these unfortunate people.
