As some who lives in the the southern Rhodope mountains (Greece is like 30km from me) I can tell you that macedonian is as intelligible to me, as an old man speaking in the purest of Rhodope dialects. The battle of Macedonia is to be won by logic and debate, not by brutish force.

The song is sung in the macedonian dialect/language. This is not standard bulgarian and the language of this song is (closer to) macedonian. Even tho some people say that the macedonian language is a standardised literary norm of the western bulgarian dialects, the fact is that the United Nations recognize the macedonian language as different and separate from bulgarian. "Македония на македонците" (Macedonia for the Macedonianas) as they say in the song, means that the land of Macedonian should be controlled by the people of Macedonia, not neighbouring countries like Bulgaria, Serbia or Grece. The macedonian people in the time when Goce Delchev lived were either bulgarian in most of Macedonia, greek in the seaside parts of Egean (South Macedonia), albanian in western Macedonia, turkish and vlach/aromanian in some areas or serbian in Northern Macedonia. When i refer to Macedonia, I don't mean the Republic of North Macedonia but i mean about the whole region including Vardarska (North Macedonia), Pirinska and Egejska/Belomorska Makedonija.

Yes, at the time of Gotse Delchev, 75% of the population were Bulgarians. The expression "Macedonia for the Macedonians" is a Bulgarian slogan. The British consul in Skopje, Rafael Fontana, wrote the following in a letter to the British consul in Thessaloniki, Alfred Biliotti, about the preparations for the Ilinden uprising: "They are working for a general Bulgarian uprising, and are preparing to meet a massacre to achieve the end of their vision of "Macedonia for the Macedonians", meaning no doubt "Macedonia for the Bulgarians". However, most modern Macedonians are deliberately ignorant of the context of this slogan and imagine Macedonians from the time of Illiden, when in fact they were Bulgarians.
