really helpful analysis, i will try to dribble using the things you have pointed out and hopefully improve. Also i think that this video proves that to be a good dribbler or attacker in general, you don't have to do 20 stepovers or fancy skills. Simple touches in different directions can be enough. Lots of kids nowadays are too focused on getting cool skills off that they forget about the actual game
So true, the simple things work the best, only when used to perfection. Look at Messi for example, I don’t even think ive even seen him use one step over 😅
For the cut across section, tho its effective it does put you at risk of picking up fouls, that could be a good and bad thing, you can win a set piece or possibly hurt yourself especially against careless aggressive pressers. I lowkey believe constantly doing this had a part to play in hazard's juries.
i rarely commend, but i had to for this one. its rare to see someone break things down and analyze the game like this. these insights are what separates the good from the great
Appreciate the rare comment ! For sure all these small details go missed, and the football industry puts it down to ‘natural ability’ implying it’s impossible to attain it any other way
Setting yourself up so you come at the defender at an angle makes it a lot easier to manipulate their balance and use their reaction against them. I noticed the success rate of stepovers and body feints increased a lot when I preempted those moves by curving my dribling in the opposite direction of the space I wanted to move into. So, dribling, I'd go from attacking his back leg(pivot foot) to attacking his front leg by curving the touches, and then once he feels uncomfortable and commits to a tackle or shift in balance I'd cut back across/feint/stepovers depending on situation. I like that the stepovers also shields the ball as you do this, so if I'm not sure the defender will bite and the defender is faster than me, that would be my preferred option. But this pattern of changing which foot you 'target' works just as well the other way, say curving your drible from front foot to back foot. It just depends on where you are, what space you want to move into, what space you think the defender will react the most to defend.
The obstruction thing is the single greatest tip u gave abt ball protection and possibly in all of yt None of those vague dribbling vids whrre they say obv things like taking small touches rly address why a dribbler is so good These specific actions are way more valuable than some general tip Id recommed doing lthe leg obstruction thingy forst before others since its the easiest to do anf almost a requirement for the other techniques
Really great video, it was eye opening for me because I had no idea of this before and I’m great technically but there is something missing in my dribbling it’s the dribbling IQ and I think this closed many knowledge gaps for my and I will try to implement this knowledge into my game, please make more dribbling analysis I’ve been following your channel for months and the problem is I have watched every single video on this channel
Also one key point that support Hazard playstyle is his body stature, he's kinda short and high masses he had advantage of low centre point of gravity, its hard for defender to take him down, while also he's not afraid taking risk to battle the opponent, that's also why most defender try stopping him by directly tackling his leg. This is why he failed at madrid (excluding several other factor) after he got injured, his playstyle changed dramatically he's more afraid and played reservedly, not making any of those explosive again
i just thought of a good mental cue for his step across move. 7:58 imagine your stepping on the defenders right foot. don’t actually do it but it helps you execute it. in the past i would put too much of my hip or thigh into it, when it really the foot and back of leg.
Hi man! First of all great vid and analysis as allways. Just a tiny tip, try to add some background music (maybe some lofi hiphop?) No hate btw, great vid! ❤
Im not joking I was just going to look up his gameplay but I decided to look at analysis and once I saw this I sent it to all my friends and instantly subscribed. Tysm
Make a video analysis about Hazard and Messi turning around with the ball at their feet while having opponents behind their back. It’s a scenario where most players just panic and mess everything up. But Messi and Hazard do that differently. I noticed Frankie De Jong and Arthur Melo started to copy Messi's technique.
I’ve been putting soemthing like this together, still in the works but it’s never covered is it, so much to take from it. And it can seem so complex in those situations
@@chasingmypotential amazing to hear! I remember you mentioning in the improve your decision making/Football IQ course that you'll do something for each position. also wondering if you'll be doing anything goalkeeper specific?

Hi bro, brilliant video, this has helped me a lot as i am currently studying hazard to help me master my dribbling. How do you find the clips of him and use it for your videos? Cheers
What you forgot to mention is how much he uses his left foot to dribble, if you are shoulder to shoulder with the defender, your other foot becomes the blindspot for the defender
does he wait for the oponnent to make a move and then do the outside chop or does he decide the moment because i feel like he waits for the defender to make a move
Yo bro I’m trying to buy your finishing course but I can’t because I live in the UK and I only have £, I don’t have access to € is there anything I can do? Great content by the way.

I try to play like Hazard but the only problem now is that I can dribble past people but when they foul me or tackle me, I end up not being able to get to the ball after due to having to react to the challenge.
If the defender is running across and their momentum is towards the space, if you go to the space without delaying them, they will easily get shoulder to shoulder with you. So this is when you delay to slow their momentum down to the space

You’re right he did get a lot of fouls. But these fouls are more like being stripped up, not ankle breakers

That small detail always nullifies the pressure coming across from the defender 🎉
bru i thought that was common sense when u cut, ig not

I noticed Hazard puts himself in between the defender and the ball so he either beats them or gets fouled… very great analysis, THANK YOU
Exactly, and most of the time the defender will pull out of the challenge, but I bet if we look at his stats he has won a ridiculous amount of fouls

How do you anaylse players so well? Is there a checklist you follow or do you just watch them over and over again?
Thank you for this video
Yes hazard is preferring to put his body between the ball and the player as he sed and this technique called “ the ball protection “
I'd strongly suggest using a background music, it's weird watching a clip with no voice or volume.
I think it allows you to focus more on the speaker, just my opinion tho (thats why i stopped using background music on my videos)
It’s to focus
No background music is distracting
No don’t
does he wait for the oponnent to make a move and then do the outside chop or does he decide the moment because i feel like he waits for the defender to make a move

So bro what are the tips for the delay skill, when do I delay and when do I attack the space immediately
If the defender is running across and their momentum is towards the space, if you go to the space without delaying them, they will easily get shoulder to shoulder with you. So this is when you delay to slow their momentum down to the space
