      🤣🤣🤣
      It was also great info overall on marking up retail bouquets, being deliberate and setting lofty but realistic goals!

    It's a very common thread that the successful flower farms all have very sound business acumen. In this example, rather than having a multitude of decently performing revenue streams that required a lot of labor to maintain, the goal was to stick to one revenue stream and optimize it.
    I really liked the discussion on buyer psychology all the way down to the road signs. It was also interesting that she clearly had some internal struggles regarding optimizing that buyer psychology. It's a business, not a charity. If you want to do charitable things, don't do it in your pricing strategy... Because you aren't going to be able to be charitable in the future if you go bust.

      I think you hit the nail on the head - successful farms know how to run businesses and apply business principles relevant to any business.
      Buyer psychology is really interesting to me too, especially around pricing and marketing. You can expect to see more content on this in the near future 😉

    This interview made me think I could consider a farm stand in a rural area. What great ideas! Love this and looking forward to the second video.

      I’m glad you’re giving this a consideration! There are some very successful rural stands that do a great job of marketing to drive traffic to the stand versus relying on traffic that would naturally go to the stand 😌

      Agreed! Especially on how she is able to mark up 3x her retail bouquet from wholesale. I need to get better at that this year

    Thank you for this. I bought Lennie's book and am just diving in. I am wondering, What hours and days her farmstand was open? How do you keep it stocked everyday? I am considering being open Wed-Sun as opposed to every day to give me time to harvest and prep as I am just one person. Any advice is welcome and appreciated. Thank you!

    • @bareflowerfarm
      @bareflowerfarm  4 місяці тому

      Hi! I believe it was open most days if not all days. She would run back multiple times in the beginning to make sure it was stocked properly and looked at its best. I think opening just a few days a week would be a great idea! The key is to spend time to market your farmstand and try to drive people there intentionally!

    Excellent interview! Thanks for sharing!! I do have a question....for the farmstand, did you have people vandalize your signs or your stand? This is what is stopping me from trying the stand. How do you work through this? Thanks

    • @bareflowerfarm
      @bareflowerfarm  3 місяці тому +1

      Hi! Glad this was helpful. Lennie never talked about this but I don't think it was an issue. She was also out in Sonoma which I feel would reduce this probability (versus like being in SF proper). Rather than vandalism, theft is often an issue I hear more of. People put in cameras as a deterrence but it can be an issue for sure.
