New Hunslet Vs Saddleworth Rangers Rugby Match - Early 1970's
This historic film was rediscovered under the Hunslet Club stage in 2009 and kindly converted to modern format by Adrian Sadler.
From a shot of the scoreboard in the footage we can see the team names. The footage shows Saddleworth playing New Hunslet at Shaw Hall Bank Road in Greenfield. There's about six minutes of the match, with Saddleworth in black facing the visitors in green and white. The rest of the video features another Hunslet game, against a team playing in red.
According to former Saddleworth player Terry Flanagan, This is 1978 probably April / May time , probaby Pennine Youth league . I was Rangers Captain number 13 , other great Rangers players include Mick Coates 8 , Nicky Kiss 9 , Paddy Kirwan 7 , Pete Grimley 3
Hunslet, great club great lads , Graeme Kinf captain , Mark Burgess ( Sams dad sadly no longer with us ) , Wayne Heron and Ian and Andy Macintosh
