The OKC Thunder have their own Unicorn and his name is Chet Holmgren. He is ready to rival Victor Wembanyama as the NBA’s next great big man superstar. Wembanyama vs. Chet Holmgren is looking like a rivalry for the ages and both the Thunder and Spurs are rallying behind their star centers. Aside from Wembanyama, Chet Holmgren might be the craziest defensive athlete I’ve ever seen. However, comparing their NBA ceilings could be tricky. The Thunder beat the Golden State Warriors in consecutive games.
The OKC Thunder already have a superstar in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and a lot of emerging young talent in Josh Giddey, Jalen Williams, Lu Dort, and Cason Wallace. Being a thunder fan since Durant and Westbrook were still sophomore and rookie respectively, I am really amazed how Presti is pulling these kinds of things off by relying on the draft and picking the right pieces. I mean he drafted 3 MVPs. He is really a genius in seeing potential i guess.

@@bigbangbasketball No, what Spurs are doing will greatly help his development, Popvich knows what he is doing. Compare Wemby pre and post all star game and you'll see how much he will improve just this season alone.
@@Jieunkim0306 Wemby should be having a lot more APG, but his team mates can't make a bucket for shit when Wemby passes to them, except for Vessell he's been doing really nice this season.
Chet currently is the better shooter vs Wemby, mainly due to SGA existing and is a bigger threat plus a good supporting cast. Wemby still needs to learn to find his spots, and Vassell is taking more tough shots since Sochan is not a true PG and know how to make plays around the 2 guys.

Holmgren already been training with pros and pro facilities and great medical team and so on for a whole year. Wemby just started a couple months ago.

It's hard to guard any player in the NBA who drives to the basket because officials ignore travelling. I watched Chet in college at Gonzaga, and he regularly got called for travelling.

wemby is shooting 51% from 2. Chet is 56% from 2
of course, the defense is more focused on wemby right now... but wemby's offensive ability is overrated compared to chet. I mean people think wemby is a dirk/KD-like shooter when he is only 28% from 3.
Shooting selection is key till the end of the season wemby will have drzstically change that

Print his stats now and at the end of season you will see the difference , remember holgrem after his injury trained with nba pros wemby was still in Europe with less games not the same pace no long trip and game strategy very different more systems less physicality all this to master in 10 games .......let s meet at end of season !!!!

I agree he will most likely improve and become a peremial all star, but it is far from a guarantee. It is also quite possible that Chet will end up as a better player than wemby.
People tend to focus on potential than how the players are playing the game right now, even though many players would never reach their potential. People thought Oden had higher potential than KD, so they picked KD second even though KD was a better player and have a better feel of the game at the time.

There is a lot of very good players coming from Europe now and before starting with drazen petrovic !!! His talent was recognized only after quite some years but was a top shooter and some others divac sabonis the father Ginobili they were all formed in Europe and top stars in Europe tony parker nic batum for the French
