Larry, if you do put a metal item in vinegar to clean it, make a baking soda and water solution to wash it in thereafter. The baking soda solution neutralizes the vinegar so the item won’t immediately rust again. Just thought I would share that with you. Thanks for the instructional video. ❤LL
Yes very true. Thank you, I appreciate it
Thank you for taking your time and teaching me this you are so patient and love the way you explain everything so understandable
Thank you Larry. You always have a way of explaining things that even a simple person could follow!
Thank you Jerry 😊
Hi Larry! I use Arm&Hammer super washing soda. I have much better results on iron. The super washing soda is a little more conductive than baking soda. Thank you for another great video.
Awesome I will get some and give that a shot. Thank you Jerry
Subscribed. Great channel. White n black always positive. Solid black always ground/negative. I need to I need to make one of these.
Very nice setup for Electrolysis
I can not wait to try this, Thanks for sharing the info. You did good but the Dog was the stole the show.
Lol he always does. Thanks for watching
You are The Man Sod Buster
Awesome video
Thank you my friend, I appreciate you watching 😊
great finds coming up enjoyed watching
Thanks for watching
As soon as I check wires for positive and negative I tie a knot in the positive wire. The knot kinda looks like a plus sign. Those red and black sleeves sometimes aren't supplied with clips. Good video.
Good idea
Nice job explaining the process! Anyone can build a simple electrolysis now and clean a few things up! I have been wanting to to this for some time, will start picking up the materials needed.
Thank you for watching, have fun Cleaning your finds.
Thanks, Larry. Great video. I'm going to give this a try too. Enjoy your videos.
Awesome, thanks for watching Carl. It works good
Thanks for sharing this great information. Will have to make one and try it out on some of my stuff and coins.
Thank you for watching Tony
YOUR AWESOME . just ordered some uncleaned roman coins
Very nice!
Another good vid Larry…made one of those awhile back…works great and you’re right about the heat/time.
Hello Al thanks for watching. I'm cleaning finds right now 😉
Great job. Thanks for the info. Stay safe and keep swinging 👍
Thank you I appreciate you watching
Great job! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching
Very helpful really appreciate it
Thank you for watching
👍🤠👍great little electronics unit
Hi Reed. Thanks for watching
very nice job
Thank you Mark, I appreciate you watching
Yes very good advice always know what your "Unit" is doing....lol...very cool show!!!
Thank you for watching
Hi Sod Buster, from CometM62 NZ, I would like to share a coin cleaning tip for you, after you have used the Electrolysis Tub, finish off the coins with BRASSO for Copper Coins and SILVO for Silver coins to bring up a really good shiny luster Finish for the coin you put into your KEEP CATALOGUE !!
Thank you I appreciate the tip. Merry Christmas
Great video!
Thank you for watching
Interesting stuff; thanks
Thank you for watching
Enjoyed your show can I use a glass bowl for cleaning
@MariaMacaluso-ru5ww sure I don't see why not
🎉hi larry quick question do you think you can make video of garrett at max very chattery machine thanks
I don't use the Garret machines. I'm just a Minelab guy. Sorry I couldn't help.
My concern regarding electrolysis is the potential for removing or plating metal to the object. From my civil war collecting days, we learned that soaking brass/copper items in household ammonia for several days will remove a significant amount of dirt without harming the platina and thus preserving the value. As for iron items, soaking in a sodium hydroxide solution while surrounded by zinc metal will remove the rust while preserving the iron. Some have even been able to regain movement afterwards. Try this approach and see how you think it works relative to electrolysis.
Thank you for the information, I will check it out
@@SodBustersMetalDetecting Thanks, also another question: what is the wireless audio module WM-08 used for if the headphones are paired to detector??
@@jamesligon5732 that is for if you want to use a corded set of headphones. It isn't needed for the Bluetooth headset
@@SodBustersMetalDetecting do you have an email I can send pictures to? I just got my equinox 800 and I do not think it is working correctly as it doesn't even seem to get good tones on surface objects. Also, already some of the led segments on the screen have gone dim and that is what I want to send you a picture of. I may need to return it to amazon if I can tell it is not working

Good 👍
Thank you for watching
Wow
What about an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner? I have a system similar to yours, made from an old video charger. Also 12 V. The results from your system were so nice. Looking forward to more videos.
Thank you Cathy, I appreciate you watching. Today I dug my oldest coin to date and will have that video out a week from Thursday.
Great Video! I've got a V nickel and a shield nickel that are really toasted. do you think this would work on them?
I would say it's worth a shot, you have nothing g to lose. Thanks for watching 😊
The coin will turn black and the only way i have found to rid the black is a wire brush. Save the hassle and just use a brass wire brush.
Under all that corrosion layer on your coin is not the same as if it were dropped right out of the mint back in the turn of the century. The brass will leave microscopic scratches so don't try to sell it but it will be a lot better to look at than electrolysis.
will a 16 penny nail work as an anode ?
I would think so for small items such as coins.
As long as its not stainless or galvanized
Can this be done indoors?
It should be done in a vetalated area. I have done it inside with these small units

Your wire cuters have crimping notches on the handles
On the 12v charger does it matter what the amps are? Informative video Larry. Keep'm coming.
From my understanding any of these will work as they are just a low voltage charger but the amperage doesn't seem to be a big issue.
The higher the current rating the better but with these small chargers you are not going to get a lot of difference. The higher current will clean the fastest but you have to pay attention to the solution mix ratio. If you use too much baking or washing soda it will draw too much current and burn out the charger.
Thanks for letting us all in on a simple way to clean up coins and relics. Also if you don't mind what was your favorite bobcat set?
I prefer a cubby set
Thanks for the reply 👍
The reason the charger was getting hot is you have too much baking soda in the solution. The suggested amount is one heaping table spoon to a gallon water. At least that is for washing soda. You can get away with a little more baking soda because it conducts less current than washing soda. I would suggest about a tea spoon next time and add more if needed. And yes it will not work as fast..LOL...
Awesome, good to know. Thank you for the info.
Great video!
