The biggest moments of loneliness in games for me have come from returning to an old multiplayer game I used to be obsessed with just to roam around the completely empty map with 0 content or players

the game that made me feel lonely was interkosmos 2000, a game about space in vr. the plot is basically you have to fix the ISS because of the Y2K bug, but over time the russian, american, and german banter gets less frequent and you become alone. then you meet a polish cosmonaut who got trapped in a decommissioned space station with an AI. the ai then pairs with your ships internal AI and tries to activate a nuclear bomb that was put on you ship without the space agencies’ knowledge. the thing that makes it lonely is that, there’s no background music. and a pipe can rupture at any time and kill you if you don’t act fast. your computer can malfunction during docking and you could die. and get this, your radio is broken so you can’t even talk to ground control. your only line of communication is your ai that will tell them the good answer no matter what you say.
I think that also bungie’s Halos do a good job : despite being a literal monster, Masterchief is so isolated from everyone, a feeling that makes every epic moment of the trilogy so personal and rewarding . This is more present in halo reach, where Noble 6 is a complete stranger in an already established team and has to fight everyday against the covenants, despite being constantly reminded by his weaknesses, the scale of the conflict and his tragic fate.
You should definitely check out "The Long Dark"! It's about surviving on an island, that is both harsh and unforgiving, as well as incredibly beautiful. It truly has that feeling of loneliness that you speak about and has a stunning soundtrack which further amplifies this feeling. When you play it, you realize how insignificant you are in this cold environment, and that nature will always go on without you. I highly recommend it!

Another game that makes you feel lonely is dark souls for sure. The only npcs you meet are the ones who barely talk to you and you feel barely any closeness to them. You realise that no one cares about your existence though it’s of paramount importance.
I really enjoy your thoughtful and insightful content.
