Hi Mary and thanks for watching. Ooo that sounds interesting- be great to see how that comes out. The glazes all act so differently on different clay bodies. 😊
Love seeing such a variety of pieces and they are so well done! Please show us how you handbuilt the mugs and then wheel threw them!! Please Sarah I love the idea of it being handbuilt and then thrown. I am a hand builder and have a wheel but haven’t taken any classes so this would be perfect!! I haven’t seen any of the new Mayco glazes that I just have to have. I bought a pint of the rose quartz but it pinholed anywhere it was just the slightest bit too thick so I will definitely be glazing a few pieces today with 2 coats! I love how yours came out with just the 2! Thank you so much for all you do Sarah!! Have an awesome vacation but hurry back please.
Hi Michele and thanks as always for your very kind words. Much appreciated. Great idea I can definitely do a tutorial on handbuilding mugs and trimming on the wheel. Makes them look thrown but you get to use great texture. Going to Greece 🇬🇷 so really looking forward to seeing their colourful ceramics for inspiration. 😁
@@thepotterycorner OH WOW! How amazing! I have a friend that just went there for a few weeks and absolutely loved it. I pray you have an absolutely amazing time.
Lovely video Sarah, you seem so relaxed now on camera. John the Potter had the same new glazes, your little test tills with texture certainly show the glaze off better 😊
Hi Lisa and thanks for watching. Amaryllis is great isn't it. Be interesting to see it layered with others - definitely worth more testing. Great to hear from you again 😊
Hello, I am a beginner and trying to do my research before I try my first make (likely a couple of little tester tiles) and have really struggled to find informative videos, but yours have been a game changer. Particularly the slip, underglaze and glaze one! I NEEDED that! I just wondered how do you get the texture shapes on your tiles? Do you have recommendations?
Thanks so much for watching and I am so pleased I've been able to help you as a beginner. I use various ways of texturing clay - textured rollers commercially bought (cookie rolling pins), rollers I have made myself by carving, anything you can find in your house like buttons etc or just marks made by tools. There are so many ways! Hope that helps and very good luck testing out your test tiles. Welcome to the channel - there are loads of videos to catch up on! 😊
Haha I loved how you didn't hold anything back on the Brown Gloss. I was wondering why they created that glaze myself. I love tuning in to watch your kiln unloads!
Hi pottery sister! Looks like your hydranga inspiration is taking over the world! 👍👍👍 Love to see it! 😃 As always enjoyed your video, that small vase from a 'leftover' is simply brilliant! And the big vase (great idea with the template!) is beautiful, such a shame for those nasty pinholes to show up. Will you refire? Another great load although I have seen many people try the new Mayco glazes and I am somewhat underwhelmed by them. But I guess that is just a matter of personal taste. Wishing you well and sending hugs from Bonaire. 🥰 Ow, btw, the blouse you are wearing is so sweet!
Hello my lovely pottery sister. Always a great pleasure to hear from you. I think there are maybe 3 or 4 out of the 12 new glazes that I really like. Amaryllis, sand dollar and pink quartz are all good but my favourite is the Gloss Coral which incidentally is the same colour as my toenails! 🤪😆🥰
Love seeing the new Amaco glazes, I’ve seen lots of posts on Instagram from Amaco. I have to ask- these are all brush-on glazes? I’m guessing because you mention 2 coats. And Emily did some with 2 coats of one colour and 2 coats of another colour. I’m currently testing some Koke brush-on glazes.
Hi Lori - thanks for watching. Yes - all brush on glazes which can be layered or mixed to create new colours. Check out my Top 10 Glazes video on the channel 😁
Hi Wendy and thanks for watching. If I add another glaze over the top and refire the piece this will nearly always get rid of the pinholes. It doesn't always work but you haven't lost anything if it fails. 😊
Hi Lori - yes we have solar which really helps with the cost of running the kilns. It is not enough to completely cover the ampage but it does about three quarters which makes a huge difference. 😊
Brown gloss alone 💩 I'm wondering what would happen if you did light flux and brown gloss. It might look worst or it could look better. Great kiln opening.
Absolutely- what we're Mayco thinking 🤔. I'm going to do some layering and mixing test tiles of these new mayco glazes. Should be interesting. Thanks as ever for tuning in 😊
Hi Annie and thanks for watching. There is no one reason why pinholes occur. Sometimes it's the actual glaze, sometimes the temperature, sometimes the combination of glazes, sometimes dust on the bisque - too many reasons to avoid sometimes. Disappointing when it happens but sometimes refiring and adding more glaze will solve the problem. 😊
Thanks so much for your kind message Polly. I'm back in the studio up to my eyeballs for the last week of classes before the summer break. I have a couple of projects to film but no time! Hoping to upload a video 📹 in the not too distant future! Bless you for checking in. 😊
Have a lovely summer🌞
Thanks Eliza- very kind. Hope you liked seeing your pieces at the end 😊
Love your videos! So helpful for a beginner. Enjoy your break but do hurry back!!!
Aww thanks so much Ruby - very kind. Looking forward to seeing the beautiful ceramics in Greece 🇬🇷
Love your sardonic laugh 13:09 😄
😆😆 - thanks for watching. Annoying when a glaze misbehaves!
I love the various depths found in brown glazes, I have several from dark honey through to the amazing shades and variations in Temuko
Hey Susy and thanks for watching. Great to have you along 😀
Love love Emily’s toad stool pieces …so creative especially that mug ❤
Great as always . Thanks for sharing with us
Thanks for watching Neila. It was a good load this one with interesting results. 😊
I just glazed a black claybody with the Passion Flower. Fingers crossed 🤞

Hey Mel - thanks for watching. Yes - I noticed JTP had his video out. Difference is I had to pay for mine 😆. Your citrus painting is gorgeous 😍
Lovely video! Nice to see your test tiles. Intresting colours! I hope you got a really good vacation and holiday!!🌸 🌻
Thanks so much Helena. Working on the Deer mugs when I get back - that'll be a lovely tutorial to share with you all. 😂
I bought amaryllis and the new coral gloss to use them together on a mug. Thank you for showing us all the test tiles.
Thanks for watching again Deborah. Both great glazes in my opinion. Better get some more in as they are going to be popular I think 🤔 😊
great job to everyone! i just glazed a few things with amaryllis myself!

@@thepotterycorner Total pottery madness and a cheeky prosecco...🤣😂

@@thepotterycorner oh this is very exciting!
Very informative, thanks. How would you go about getting rid of pinholes with a reglazing?
Hi Wendy and thanks for watching. If I add another glaze over the top and refire the piece this will nearly always get rid of the pinholes. It doesn't always work but you haven't lost anything if it fails. 😊
Had to stop the video at 22 seconds in, to ask: you use solar panels at home/ the studio?! 🎉🎉🎉
Hi Lori - yes we have solar which really helps with the cost of running the kilns. It is not enough to completely cover the ampage but it does about three quarters which makes a huge difference. 😊

Where could we source some Botz grey? It's lovely!
I get mine from Blue matchbox in Reading. Hope that helps 😊
Thanks! Appreciate.@@thepotterycorner
What causes pin holes? I wonder if it’s the kiln atmosphere? Is there a way to avoid them?
Hi Annie and thanks for watching. There is no one reason why pinholes occur. Hi, Sara, I thought I remembered you saying you are going on holiday. But, just wanted to let you know that you are missed. Hope things are okay.
