I love how you add the info to the side about the plants and fish you encounter
Same
It’s the little things that keep me coming back to this channel
Yea that’s a fire touch, feels like a video game or something
Do we know what app he used? Looked pretty cool
@@makaveli19860 pretty sure it’s called ‘PictureThis’
The fungus you found (hemlock varnish, reishi) are actually edible in that stage. The white outer edge is soft, and can easily be sautéed. I think it’s amazing actually. The rest of the fungus is highly medicinal and can be dried to make tea or made into tincture. Reishi is the elixir of life in Asian cultures! Great vids, I’m Maine born and one of my favorite places on earth.
I seen it and was like that’s a gano family mushroom
But still not edible in that stage ? There should be no red or varnish showing yet when consuming . I thought atleast ?
CT Foraging Club has good info on it
Need fuck
Man this is such a great video. Serious commitment. I'm sick right now and on a really specific bland diet, and I'm trying to live vicariously through you with all these great foods that I wouldn't think of eating normally. Thank you Man!
Lmao wut. He would die in two weeks inthe open.
Give Mav a break, he's out there actually Doing it (which so many of us can't) even if he's Googling what to do and it might be not always right.. he's Doing it and Trying!
What he googles today is probably what he'll remember tomorrow, so I don't really see it as cheating. But I see as olive oil and butter as cheating haha
@@AArrad Well, for a cheat to be a cheat it has to give you a significant advantage in addition to being against the rules, right? So while the use of butter and olive oil in pan-frying may technically be against the rules, I wouldn’t consider it a _cheat_ seeing that he didn’t gain a significant advantage of any sort from it. Maybe a few calories, but nothing huge-it was just for flavor’s sake. Same goes for the curry seasoning he used on the mussels and snails
Better to be safe than sorry
Agreed, I give him credit for actually doing it. I'd probably give up or just say 'screw this' lol
Pro don’t waste time on haters, it gives them fuel. They are the minority of people who watch, let them have their unheard negativity.
Was raised in Maine and lived there til I turned 30. The parking lot you're in in the first minute or so is right behind the first place I ever worked. It's also where I learned how to drift in the snow in my first car when I was 15 hahah total trip having watched you for so long and seeing you walk around where I grew up. Hope Maine was welcoming and enjoyable!
I love Maine. Why’d you move ? If you don’t mind me asking.
That’s pretty cool 😭
surreal seeing Mav in Maine, wish i was able to run into him when he was here...
Downtown Augusta, what a place lol
Dude that’s actually so wholesome
Mav, Next time consider boiling the fish heads, skin, and bones. Makes a very nutritious broth. We never throw away our walleye, perch, crappie, or bass after fileting them.(near Bemidji here) Once you strain the scales and add some salt and hot sauce it's amazing. Cheers! Always fun to watch your adventures!
It's a scam don't fall for it
That fish was tiny though. Not worth saving anything. Regardless though, the parts you mentioned are the garbage parts from the fish. Inedible
@@shanebreezy4453 I've been an avid fisherman and hunter for nearly 40 years. Fish broth is how you use the entire fish. There are multiple ways to use it. Even a small fish like that bass can produce a small quantity of rich broth. In a survival scenario where you are trying to live off the land, a small number of nutrients can make a big difference.
🤢🤮
@@shanebreezy4453 no way! Exactly cause it was small, a fish broth would've been the best way to use it. Making filets was a waste of nutricious stuff
HOW DID I MISS THIS EPISODE! My home state!
Grew up finding random wild blueberries, raspberries, catching trout. Crazy to see Mav in places I’ve been to.
Mav I’ve never been hunting or really been outdoors but I really enjoy watching your videos. Feels like I’m there with you on your adventures thank you for sharing these thrilling experiences. I appreciate the information you give us about plants and animals. Your a great person Mav and I like how you are so nice to everyone u meet. Your a true role model 👍
Lmao “I’ve never ventured away from my hdtv and playstation. How is it to eat a few mussels you found while driving in a brand new state of the art truck with every amenity known to man”
@@timcarter817 its kinda weird how many negative comments u left on this channel lmao
Hey Mav, you can soak the freshwater mussels in clean spring water, and add a bit of corn meal to the water, it will help clean the mussels out as well as sweeten them up a bit! I thoroughly enjoy going out and harvesting freshwater mussels here in Florida, I love them! They make great stews, as well as AWESOME bait!
As I was reading this, I was thinking "sounds like a Floridian". LOL. I don't really miss the heat/humidity. But I sure miss fresh muscles, crawdads, clams, shrimp & ALL the different fish. I do get crawdads & some nice Rainbows here in southern Colorado.
@@cherb_soco1891 yeah I have been to Colorado only twice, and never got around to fishing. Hopefully I will next time!
@@DrSatansAbortionClinic We have great Rainbows, statewide. Brownies, cutthroat, mountain white fish & kokanee salmon(land locked sockeye). Hope you get to give it a shot sometime!
@@DrSatansAbortionClinic fishing Colorado is great. I'm from mass. Been to Colorado 3 times after the first time I was like no way I'm coming back in not fishing. Spent a week at grand lake and surrounding lakes. One of the best trips of my life.
Muscles for bait mind out you catch me 😂
Mav, make more like this!! Great format, really reminds me of the show “Alone” and cool to learn about what’s edible and what’s not.
Season 2 of alone winner Zachery Fowler is from Maine!!
You want him to starve lol
Ya let’s make this dude stress out how about no why don’t you make a video like this instead of wanting someone else to struggle n suffer.
Ol 207
More pls Mav!!
i’ve been so stressed recently and found your channel and watching your videos help me relax so much thank you mav❤️
Love the Maine content! I'm from Portland myself and it's crazy the diversity in wildlife and nature we have between 1-2 hours from the coastline as well as all the way up in the Allagash region. Year round there is always something to do.
This was 10/10 enjoyable, hope to see more of these!
I can't explain my excitement when I read Maine Edition!! Born and raised, recognized a couple of the places and even signs you drove by lol. Wish I could have come across you in your travels but hope you enjoyed your time spent in our beautiful State. If you ever need some advice on some cool native trout fisheries I would be willing to show you. You seem to respect the land the way we hope all travelers do and I cannot extend our appreciation enough for that.
Hell yeah I was hoping he was going to come down to Maine when he said he was in Quebec
same here
Do you know the water street barbers in downtown Augusta
I just found your channel today, so awesome to see you in Maine! I wish our state had more UA-cam recognition, thank you!
I grew up in Durham, ME (where Stephen King spent his elementary school years at my school).
Maine is a special place, very unique. That deep blue water rushing on the rocks is so calming yet mysterious.
The cloudy rainy days really have an enigma to them. I think the ocean really dampens the air and gives it such a mystery - one could really feel lonely on a foggy/rainy evening up there.
Best place to call home
I live like 1 street from the famous stephen king house lol

The Way Life Should Be!
Exactly what I needed today to get my mind off of life! Keep up the awesome content Mav! By far the most genuine and best channel on the tube!
Bro Fr
same brotha
id say greg ovens has the most content you can learn from compared to mav but i still like mav.
Best youtube channel is definitely a bit of a stretch bro. It's a good channel with good videos and he can be entertaining most the time, but he's not exactly a wealth of knowledge or even necessarily great at the stuff he does so he's really not in a "best" of anything conversation, not hating at all I actually like the guy but let's just be open and honest here eh!?!
@@bishyeahbish3758 Who are you to tell someone what they think is best? If he enjoys this channel and thinks Mav’s channel is the best then so be it. My goodness. I’m pretty sure you have a channel that you think is best and others would beg to differ. Lastly, isn’t that what UA-cam is for? Entertaining content? No one said Mav has a wealth of knowledge to offer. His content is enjoyable and he has over one million followers that enjoys what he does. Relax.
i love how you were so excited to realize we can grow wild strawberries here in maine. i grew up attending a strawberry festival here where the entire front lawn of the church was seeded with wild strawberries instead of grass. so fun
cute
Your videos always are entertaining. You do things many people wouldn't care to but many of us feel like we are with watching these. These adventures are educational too! Keep up the amazing content!
I love your channel so much omg! It's so relaxing to watch your videos. Thanks for all of your incredible content!
I got so excited to get on and see 50 minutes of content! Especially in my favorite fishing state Maine!
We lived in Bangor Maine back in 1958 - 1960. I was 4 and remember finding wild strawberries, so good! Thanks for bringing back this memory! Have a great day, Mav!

Mav you're the reason I am building my truck camper. I love your vids and can't wait to see more!!! Again, thanks for being my inspiration!!!
Hopefully you touch that grass soon, brother
I grew up with Maverick in Compton California. We were in a street gang together & he grew up around all the vatos & gangsters. His street-name was “Disadente,” Spanish for “Maverick.” Mav will always be me familia & all of South Central LOS ANGELES has his back. Vatos locos por vida, chingon 🤜🏾🤛🏾
You are indeed fortunate to have grown up with Mav, he is a kind ,gentle , soul with a energized mind and body, he's up for a challange and rarely complains about anything. Actually he doesn't complain but shows concern about things. It makes spending time with him fun. Maybe you can hook up and travel with him
lolololol this is wild.
What a weird attempt at humour.
That park ranger was so awesome. I love how he gave you a lure that they locally use!! He matched Mav’s energy so well❤️ Love what you do and how you do it Mav, your craft is amazing

"Those aren't really great numbers, but we can make today great!" Love you Mav, keep up the positive mindset.
Loved this one. It inspires me to get out and eat some wild food. I'm amazed how abundant these foods were. The only think I don't like is it stresses me out when you are getting low on food. I guess it's my inner mom coming out. LOL! Your content is amazing! Have a great day Mav!

So great that you often set new goals and challenges for yourself. It sounds like a lot of work and maybe hunger but i know you will succeed. 🤗
The winter is harsh sometimes but I think it humbles us as humans and clears the mind. Nothing like being out at the crack of dawn/dusk when it’s snowy.

Seconded!
As a teen in Maine, you don't really see much of our state on UA-cam so it's awesome to see it,
Been watching for awhile, seen almost every vid, this was absolutely my favorite maverick, keep up the good work buddy!
Really digging the editing, great work!👍
Helpful tip: When you pull wild plants to eat, don't pull out the roots! Cut the plant at about 1 inch above the soil level. Because when you leave the roots in the ground the plant will re-grow! Nothing re-grows if you pull out the roots that you won't eat!
Unless its a cattail root 😆
Unless it's the root that you're actually wanting to eat
I think the point was to eat the root lol

Its great to see your video longer than 22 minutes . I had asked to see longer videos and so thanks for the longer video.
Love visiting Maine. The last rocky outcrop you visited is a fun spot. We watched some old guy casting using a long beach pole , must have been 8' long, casting way the hell out past the surf. He caught quite a few fish, each at least a few feet long, and another at Popham casting with a long line and just letting it sit. He was also quite successful. Both were casting quite far out using lures with a bright chrome spinners.
An hour long mav video?? I am in my heaven!
