Love visiting Maine. The last rocky outcrop you visited is a fun spot. We watched some old guy casting using a long beach pole , must have been 8' long, casting way the hell out past the surf. He caught quite a few fish, each at least a few feet long, and another at Popham casting with a long line and just letting it sit. He was also quite successful. Both were casting quite far out using lures with a bright chrome spinners.

Just my opinion but I've been saying the same thing for at least a couple of years and not had anyone disagree with me yet tbf. Just being blunt and saying it as it is 🤷🏼♂️

Love this video foraging for food! Definitely need to keep some long chopsticks in the truck kitchen which makes cooking and picking up the mussels and milkweed shoots a lot easier.
I was living in my car about 15 years ago. I got caught in between jobs, and a move didn't work out so I stayed in my car to save money. I had an expensive storage unit at the time. To make a long story short, I went about 3 days without food at one point. I was pretty healthy. I walked a lot, but I tried to cut it down because I knew I wasn't getting any calories. The hunger pangs were pretty bad but I still had a bit of a tummy, so I figured I wouldn't die and I might lose a few pounds on the starvation diet. I had vitamins. To make a long story short, the other thing I had was a good selection of booze. Not that I'm an alcoholic, but I had a well stocked bar, before I moved out to save money, and I kept a few of those bottles in my cooler to help keep it cold when I DID have food and ice. I discovered a miraculous thing. I don't know if it would work for everyone, but I thought maybe a shot would take away some of my stress, so I took a shot of Jose Cuervo Gold before taking a short walk on the beach. I was already in good spirits, and wasn't looking for a buzz. Just to relax a bit. I was having bad hunger pangs that were unpleasant. I'd never ever gone so long without food in my life. It might have even been 4 days because I'd lost count. Within a few minutes of the shot, and my normal mid morning constitutional walk, my hunger pains ended completely, and did not come back for that entire day. It's like it flipped a switch and my body said Ooh, I get it, your not eating. You don't need pain. I've taken a shot of tequila since then, on fasting days, and it seems to help. I have no idea why, or if it would work on anybody else. But now a bottle of Tequila is a standard part of my trek outfitting. I don't know if scotch or Irish Whiskey or Jack Daniels would have the same effect. My instincts tell me a more sugary alcohol might not work. It's like I sucked a cactus and my body went from hunger pangs to survival mode. I've always wanted to try it again, but Im not eager to starve myself these days. But hey, I may have discovered a home remedy for scarce scavanging. Databyter
Love these type of survival videos thank you 🙏 for sharing you will never know if you get caught and need to know about greens and fishing to survive great video

Mav...As uncomfortable as it might be, not eating for that long is so good for your system. It gives your digestive system a complete break and allows some stem cells after about 18 hours to spread into your body and help with whatever you might need. It’s great to practice something like that at least once a month it can really benefit your system in the long run. Great video as usual

I never thought to realize how important that can be 👌🏼 not just those 3 either, it can be whatever you need to work on mentally
I think you met a new level of challenge “the 50 min” It was great! After seeing your venture out looking for food geez I hope the day doesn’t come that we all have to do that. Can’t wait for your next video!
So great that you often set new goals and challenges for yourself. It sounds like a lot of work and maybe hunger but i know you will succeed. 🤗
So excited to see the house!!! LOVE Mel!!! He's the BESTEST!!
I've been looking for a creator to watch as I've caught up on all the other adventure channels. Love what you're doing.
Watching on a road trip,,, I LOVE the longer style video,,,keep up the great content Mav. You're an inspiration
this is my favorite episode you have ever posted! thanks mav!
Please do more survival videos in Maine! Really cool seeing you in my home state, learning a ton about the wildlife and natural resources here through watching you
Seconded!
As a teen in Maine, you don't really see much of our state on UA-cam so it's awesome to see it,
I love these type of Mav videos coz he does it so authentic! One of the remaining real outdoor channels
Bro there's literally hundreds of real and genuine outdoor channels. But I mean yeah there's definitely a big bunch of poser channels out there aswel (way too many tbh).....that flaire princess guy springs to mind, braydon price too (he's a fair weather/ try not to get dirty - kind of "outdoors" guy. They're not among the genuine articles but there's still a lot of them out there if u look around and avoid the big 'sponsored by everyone so they're basically just puppets and salesman' channels. Just my opinion but I've been saying the same thing for at least a couple of years and not had anyone disagree with me yet tbf. Just being blunt and saying it as it is 🤷🏼♂️
Mav! This would be a sweet challenge to come to NH to do! Particularly during the spring during the opening weeks of Trout Fishing and Turkey Season in the Spring. Or Alternately the first few weeks in October while small game/waterfowl/deer seasons are going on! If you ever find yourself interested in that please reach out! Particularly for the spring portion, the turkey hunting, and trout fishing can be great!
mav, the subtle editing u added in this video is sick
Love the long format. And congrats on surviving the challenge, I couldn't make it through your video without a snack.
😂
Facts! Chips and dip here lol
I love that your putting yourself through this challenge! love watching your videos in general but I love these traveling ones so much! stay safe mav!
This was a great episode. Funny, interesting, challenging and bugs. I was wondering when the bugs would show up.
Yes, the end of the video says it all. I am grateful for what I have and have respect for what you challenged yourself to do. No doubt the brain goes through all kinds of hurdles all by itself. Very interesting channel.
Totally love your videos Mav.....tell you what kid, I am sooo darn glad you got over being sick there for a few days and not being able to hear out of your one ear. That was concerning.....glad you are better now! Your trucker fan enjoys your content and being a subscriber of such an awesome channel!!! 👌 😀

You’re in Maine! Welcome to Vacation land my friend! Check out beautiful Sebago Lake in southern Maine
Love this video foraging for food! Definitely need to keep some long chopsticks in the truck kitchen which makes cooking and picking up the mussels and milkweed shoots a lot easier.
This is the best episode of Mav yet ! And I’ve been here for quite a while now ! Keep up the great content man
You are very inspiring ! I wish I could do half the stuff you do. Nice content today. Thank you for that ! Much love from upstate NY.
Amazing video brother, can't believe you uploaded a 50 minute video! Keep it up man!

Looks like it was a struggle man but you pushed through! I loved the little info you put on the plants and how you body was feeling. Keep on trucking!

Databyter
Mav, I hope your ear is doing better! Love your videos, hopefully your come to CT one day. Your def close lol. Keep on truckin!
Love these type of survival videos thank you 🙏 for sharing you will never know if you get caught and need to know about greens and fishing to survive great video
An hour long mav video?? I am in my heaven!
Mainer here. I knew this challenge wouldn't be easy. Maine is tough. you did well though, mav. I would have loved to tag along. hope you enjoyed my home state
Great job Mav! Enjoyed the whole video. I used to live in Baja Mexico Punta Gabra it is about 100 miles south of Erindrida. I used to eat a lot of mussels and those little snails some abolone and sometimes I would find some crabs in the tide pools. Also caught some fish like rock cod.
Oh forgot to tell you. Punta Gabra means Goat Point. I was on the Pacific Ocean side.
I just did this video almost exactly the same... except I did 48 hours.. I was in Bangor Maine when I filmed it. that's only less than two hours away from you in this video, pretty cool! anyways, can't wait to watch this one! great minds think alike?? lol
I was just coming here to comment this! I watched your video a couple days ago. it was awesome. keep up the great work Becca. I love your truck camping videos! Can’t believe you did this in Maine also.
Haven't found anything good to watch all day thank you so much brother
I’m with you on this endeavor. I’m curious how this will turn out. I’m on a high protein low sugar--summer diet. One of the reasons why I enjoy your channel is because a lot of it is how to be self sufficient and independent.
Mav, are you an only child? You have that vibe!
Yes, he is!
@@pinky2245 Makes sense now I suppose. Thank you, Rose.
@@pinky2245 answer on behalf of strangers you've never even met much?
@@bishyeahbish3758 It's pretty obvious if you've been watching him for awhile.
Watching this after a long busy day at work relaxing on the couch , best way to do it! Almost an hour of mav. Let’s go
My grandad had wild strawberry plants in his garden, in the summer everytime I’d ride past his house on my bike I’d always munch a few. Miss him
Mav...As uncomfortable as it might be, not eating for that long is so good for your system. It gives your digestive system a complete break and allows some stem cells after about 18 hours to spread into your body and help with whatever you might need. It’s great to practice something like that at least once a month it can really benefit your system in the long run. Great video as usual
I need to eat regularly or I feel horrible, I start trembling, feel light headed, i can't concentrate, my vision goes blurry and I faint !
Nothing health about that !

Mav, you're so close to Winslow Maine, you should of went to Big G's deli! They have some of the biggest sandwiches on the planet and they are outrageously good! You should try the Bullseye!!!
Stick IT up your bullseye
that’s my kind of foraging lol
Thanks for the video Mav! I wasn't feeling good while watching this but this video definitely drove my attention away from that and helped me feel better ♥️
I grew up in Blue Hill, Maine. Two years ago when my husband, son and I visited, we dug for clams. What an ordeal! But we managed to get 16 of them. They were delicious! Loved watching you pick the mussels. Sorry you didn't have better luck fishing. Hope you enjoyed Maine!
Blue Hill is a great area. I'm wondering where he was fishing?
@@Zeldalou42377 I was wondering the same thing.
Bro these long vids n movies are the best going back n watching everything bro! Great stuff man n ya deserve ya success for the great content
What app is that? Identify the plants, pretty neat.
check a channel called atomic shrimp, his video recently talked about those type of apps. I also found its intriguing that he also talked about wild strawberries in a video a week ago and then here we have mav foraging them
The app is called seek
The plant identification app he’s using is called PictureThis
Cost?

It's free on Android, I'm guessing it's free on iPhone as well.
Did it not tell him that milkweed is toxic!!! I have the app and it says toxic!
Thanks for posting that Andrew, looks like fun.

Welcome to Maine Mav! It’s a beautiful place to have grown up, very proud to call it home.
Oh, man. You went over the Penobscot Narrows bridge. You can go up the western spire to an observatory deck that has phenomenal views of the entire bay region. That bridge was built in short order after the previous bridge was found to have irreparable corrosion to the suspension cable strands in the early 2000s.
Bro, next time cook the fish whole and pick off the meat. Bass is damn good when cooked right.
