That seems like remarkably robust software for something pitched towards teens in 2003. It's like there's enough structure for someone that is just getting started but also enough flexibility that an artist like yourself can legitimately make a song and video. And like you said the limitations help combat the creative paralysis that comes from th paradox of choice. Loving the "using retro creative tools in the modern world" content!
Considering how rudimentary the tools are, the song is amazing. If you give me the same tools and samples I will never come up with something as cool as this. It turned out great, nothing to be ashamed about. I really like Harke.

Cakewalk was the first DAW I used to record my band's music, but not long after I started using Magix music maker and even though it was a later version than this, a lot of the effects in the "FX rack" looked and worked the same. This video really took me back. From what I remember, Magix was pretty affordable too. At least compared to other recording software out there. I have Magix Music Maker for PlayStation 2, which my mom bought for me back in 2003 when I was 12. I never did own any of the PC versions. I can tell some of the audio and video samples from Magix Music & Video Maker 6.0 are also in the PS2 version. I totally remember the "I am evil! I am inside of you!" and the "I know why" vocal samples, as well as that video clip of the guy in the red shirt dancing. Magix Music Maker and MTV Music Generator were fun to play around with as a kid. I don't know if the PC versions of Music Maker have this, but the PS2 version has some pre-made songs with videos that you can listen to/watch. There's one song I really like that has a Latin-American/dance kind of feel with a Spanish female vocal harmony, and I remember creating an extended version of it because I thought the original track was too short. An updated version for PS2 called Music Maker Deluxe Edition includes the ability to record your own vocals with a SingStar microphone, but I never owned either of those.
