John L if I recall correctly, code 55 means other malfunction. Consult terminal required. I translate that to mean the ecu can not find any error codes.
Some NQ ecu... I don't have the full history of the engine, but I'm relatively certain or hope it's a SpecR S15 engine. S15's probably use an OBD2 port or something. But since its been swapped into my S13 there's no longer a port, and the loom has been modded by who knows. Engine's been running rough, changed the coilpacks, spark plugs, checked for air leaks... it's better but still slight intermittent misfires here and now. Thought getting the codes might help
John L hmmm.. I thought the s13 came equipped with the consult harness. Have you checked in the in the fuse panel, located inside of the car? There should be a grey harness with about 16 pins. If it has never been used before it may still be tucked up in the panel area.

Well, just pulled out my ECU to look for codes... doesn't even have any screw or light! :P
