    Alf Ramsey and Bobby Robson both left Ipswich but only after years of loyal service and only to manage England. I contend they were both legendary managers and even greater than what McKenna is at the moment. McKenna should test himself with Ipswich in the Premiership before leaving at the first opportunity for clubs that won’t afford him any loyalty without success.

  • @user-pu1ds4gy4x

    Maresca owes Leicester because they gave him his first job and he had the best team in the championship as for Mckenna he doesn't owe Ipswich because he wasn't expected to get promoted and he did. He however owes it to himself to prove he can keep Ipswich in the league with limited budget which will also increase his value as a manager, just look at Alonso.

    • @Bluelight44

      I disagree. Ipswich took a risk as they saw a potential good manager. They've nutured him and given him everything he asked for. Essentially it's been a good fit. This may not happen if he moves on. McKenna's style is to get workmanlike players who are not possibly the best but will give their all at all times. It's the team that counts, not expensive individuals

    • @Bluelight44
      @Bluelight44 28 днів тому +7

      @@douglasmegson3739 my bad, I was referring to maresca but since you're talking about McKenna, come on back to back promotions, literally from a very weak division (league 1) in comparison to Premier league in 2 seasons without spending huge amounts of money. There has to be no debt between Ipswich and McKenna. I am not an Ipswich fan but if Ipswich fans think McKenna owes them because they gave him a chance then y'all are just greedy

Whatever McKenna decides to do is ok by me. He doesn’t owe Ipswich anything, and the club will be compensated if he moves. However I’d say Chelsea and United could be a bad step at this stage. He has a great bond with his current team and may want to show how good they can be. The Brighton set up sounds,like the best option if he does want a move.

    I understand Simon's point of view, but unless we are the ones being offered just such an opportunity, it is hard to imagine not having our heads turned.
    In an ideal World, Clubs would like to think loyalty plays a part in the final decision. However loyalty is a two way street which is often detrimental to any Manager who has a poor spell.

    Jordan says they have to back themselves by staying at their respective clubs and develop there. This is not how the real world works, if you back yourself and are confident of course you’re going to go to another level as soon as you can, it’s called ambition. If they don’t then they’ll always going to ask what if. You don’t want to die not knowing what could have been in any walk of life. I say go for it and give it your best shot.

    Simon is right. I don’t know what the fuss is about McKenna or people comparing Arteta’s move to Arsenal. Don’t compare Arsenal Board with Manchester United or Chelsea. Man U and Chelsea have the worst board in the world. They (Man U) don’t support managers and just bleed the club dry. Chelsea’s board don’t know what they are doing. Arsenal is a very well runned club. It is so disrespectful to Ten Hag. Two days to a final this is coming out. Like what do people think will be going through those players head. Imagine if Chelsea or United get McKenna and it turns out like lampard (who was good at Derby) or Graham Potter. Those clubs will be taken 3 years back

    Simon is evidently an experienced and successful businessman. If he gave a person a chance in his other businesses, and they were headhunted, would he have the same reaction? It's unfair to assume football people (to use Souness's term) should be held to a higher standard than in other professions. If a solicitor, teacher, construction worker, or civil engineer could seek a better opportunity, then i don't see why a football manager, coach, or player shouldn't.

      Because in Football they sign a multi year correct and normal employee's have a contract that allows them give a notice period of a month/3 months either way. If they get a contract for three years they should honour that if the owner wants them out he has to pay the remainder of the contract.

    What are you talking about Simon? It would be massive career mismanagement turning it down. What opportunities will arise bigger than United if he stays up with Ipswich next year? Endless list of managers have come up after doing well in the champ, done well in the prem and then dont get a sniff of any top job. Dyche, Frank, Cooper, Wilder etc etc. These top clubs dont come calling for promoted managers often. There is nothing to suggest Mckenna would get a top 4 club coming for him because it never happens to these managers coming up which is why everyone find the Kompany one so baffling. Thats only because of his name.
