To me this video is a representation of your higher self. Most times we look in the sky or other places for a savior. Yet our truth and its answers are within. I appreciate this beautiful reminder.
These girls are COMMUNISTS. In Cuba we are taught to hate the “Yankees”, hate the USA & hate Capitalism. Their father was a musician during the USSR era of Cuba & was always traveling out of Cuba when it was ILLEGAL for average Cubans to do so. They praise Che & Fidel openly & preach Communism during their interviews WHILE earning Capitalist foreign dollars. Those dictators (Fidel murdered Che over power, every Cubans knows that) are the reason Cuba is a rotting, disgusting, vile, shameful & oppressive country. This a video of Che, Fidel & Camilo sentencing black men to a firing squad WITHOUT a trial on NATIONAL CUBAN TELEVISION: ua-cam.com/video/ogKBqxnaWhU/v-deo.html THESE ARE THE PEOPLE THESE WOMEN LOOK UP TO! They should be be ashamed & exiled (like millions of Cubans have been since 1959) because of their Anti-American agenda. Don’t support these ladies, you Yankees! They HATE you & always will just like their "role models" have taught them to.
Eliza L. Yeah cause you know them personally. your comment is juste a pile of bullshit. Just a brainwashed hateful guy with a lot of time on his hands. Im actually laughing. Because their father was a traveler they support dictators. Even the worst police service couldn't piece together such a twisted scenario
@@elizal.8473 they're communists? shit. I knew there was a reason why this music was lit. Also, that video doesn't show what you say it does. Did you watch it? Finally, who can support the Americans? How many countries have they invaded and overthrown democratically elected governments so their corporations can take the land and resources for free? You'll have trouble naming a single one. All in the name of so-called democracy. Democracy at the end of US guns.

You two are DEEEP!!! love it !!! My Daughter Sarah turned me onto "The River" years ago and I been an Ibeyi fan ever since . . . stay strapped in!!! Love it
This song I’ve listened over and over. Thinking about how resilient we are and how this body is not final has helped me so much. Being traumatized as a child I always hear children’s cries or I can see them and know without knowing and I have become so frozen as I have no way to do anything sometimes because I can’t heal their scars BUT what has helped me is knowing that as they grow they can choose snd also if I can teach/help them know who they are then nothing can hold them. Even in death they are free and alive
The song is already so good on its own, but putting in the sax was genius and really makes it stand out. I love mixmashes of different sounds when they are done this brilliantly. (When they aren't, it's brutal lol)
Now who would ever thought of that.......Only Ibeyi can get away with this kind of art totally different......Don't we wish we could be that close and loving each other......It's not that many people who is.........
Agradecido a Dios de que mi Tierra produzca grandes Talentos. No pude asistir cuando estuvieron en Miami , no creo que se presentaron. Olo'ffi está con Ustedes
so I just read through npr that lisa wrote the song after she was wrongfully arrested.she wrote the song for minorities who may feel as if they are small. personally I feel its about black people who have gone through oppression. "we are deathless."
Jamise Denari I agree with you but the story seem to invoke the story of Shango Ọba kò so. Letting us know the king does not hang and to me that applies to all people being oppressed especially to our melanated people we must stand tall and walk in the power and authority of our ancestors and stop letting opressors hang us by keeping us down and holding us back from our destiny .
Royal Olokun I was writing Deathless as an anthem for everybody!" Lisa-Kaindé writes in a press release. "For every minority. For everybody that feels that they are nothing, that feels small, that feels not cared about and I want them to listen to our song and for three minutes feel large, powerful, deathless. I have a huge amount of respect for people who fought for, what I think, are my rights today and if we all sing together 'We are deathless,' they will be living through us into a better world." lisa kaiyende from ibeyi
Vous me faites vraiment trop vrillé avec vos voix et vos clips complètement original et différents ! Vous êtes pour sur mes artistes préféré ! j'ai hâte de vous voir en concert !
Came to this this from the Late Show call (though Colbert's intro didn't make it easy to find!). Bloody excellent. Off to eat up the rest of Ibeyi's every single sound wot I can find. It's the kind of thing that makes me want to buy it, and not just because I want it for my ears. Want to throw some dollars down to say thanks for something new and great.
a collab between ibeyi and solange would be a spiritual journey

"They tried to bury us but they didn't know we were seeds."
Super Hans not everything has to be political
That's literally what this song is about. They wrote this song after they were wrongfully arrested by French police.
Wait what? tell me about it
They describe the story behind this song in episode "Ibeyi - Deathless" of the podcast "Songexploder". They also break down the song musically. It's definitely worth a listen.

Beautiful interpretation!
Our ancestors live on through us. We are deathless.

Can’t believe this was 6 years ago. Y’all were definitely ahead of your time. Thank you for the beautiful quality music ladies :)

(He said, he said)
Do you smoke?
What's your name?
Do you know why I'm here?
(She was, she was)
Innocent
Sweet sixteen
Frozen with fear
Whatever happens, whatever happened (oh hey)
We are deathless
We are deathless
Whatever happens, whatever happened (oh hey)
We are deathless
We are deathless
(He said, he said)
You're not clean
You might deal
All the same with that skin
(She was, she was)
Final looks
With her books
Left for dead in the streets
Whatever happens, whatever happened (oh hey)
We are deathless
We are deathless
Whatever happens, whatever happened (oh hey)
We are deathless
We are deathless
Whatever happens, whatever happened (oh hey)
We are deathless
We are deathless

5 years later, I am using this song for motivation.
Kamasi makes everything better.

This song is so powerfully valuable in this day and age. We are DEATHLESS !!!
Art visual auditory and tactical with that bass line and good system you will feel it. The words and the imagery speak as one. Wonderful work
I accidentally stumbled upon this song on Kamasi Washington's spotify playlist and I can't take this off of repeat. Great song.
Wow. Reminds me of art by Frida Kahlo. There is talent here.....
Every day we are reborn, we are deathless! Can't wait to see you in MIAMI

Jamise Denari I know but I was kind of making a personal connection to it when I mentioned the oppression of melanated people and our culture.
Royal Olokun understood
Jamise Denari People of all colours were oppressed. From Spanish to Indians to Blacks. There's no need to take away from ones experience

It kinda reminds me of the cycle of life. Although a person dies, their children will grow on and humanity will become "deathless"
I totally agree with you basically we are frozen in fear for no reason because we are deathless
