Pope Benedict XVI truly was one of the most brilliant men to be the successor to the Vicar of Christ.
Sadly, I had to miss this wonderful event with His Holiness. At the time, I had been a lapsed Catholic for far too long and working for a protestant organisation whose staff conference was in the east of Scotland on the very same day as this Papal Mass. I was involved in the music for this conference, so my absence from that would probably have gone down like a lead balloon. Three weeks later, I rejoined the Catholic Church. I believe that God used this situation to give me the push I needed to come home.
