    Thank you for making this video. I have Monterey on my 2011 iMac right now using OCLP. Did connecting the Bluetooth mouse and keyboard give you any issues? I had held off on upgrading because I thought I had read Bluetooth had stopped working in Ventura for our model.

    Thank you to give a new life to my iMac 2011. It’s like new now and fast and most saved money $$ . The instruction was clear and easy to follow.
    I’ve install Monterey (saw here that it was more fluid than Somona.)
    One question : now I get a message asking if I want to upgrade to Somona , do you think I can do it safely directly or I need to go through OpenCore legacy? Thank you again

    • @aoeaster
      @aoeaster  3 місяці тому

      I'm glad the info shared helped. Upgrading from Monterey to Sonoma is best done through OCLP. Monterey on OCLP is pretty stable, so you could turn off automatic updates if you're not interested in updating to Sonoma right now.

    • @aoeaster

      Yes, you can, but the process of installation would be different - more of an upgrade than a fresh installation.

    Hello sir thank you for the video. I was wondering for if you have tried Monterey on a 2011 iMac? I just got one but people on forums said they prefer Monterey for this year iMac it's faster and more smooth. But I see your video with ventura so now i am not sure which to use. Have you tried both?
    Thanks

    • @aoeaster
      @aoeaster  6 місяців тому +1

      I have tried Monterey, and yes, it is really smooth and stable running on OpenCore Legacy Patcher. It would be a great idea to go ahead with Monterey.

    Perfect tutorial, but when you change the HDD for the SSD, the box its terrible option to fit the SSD, i mean, imacs have overheating problems so i dont think it is the best option to hold the SSD, anyway thnks for the tut!!

    Thank you so much for this video! I have the same iMac with High Sierra at the moment and I want to update so that I can download a higher version of Xcode. But I haven't yet because it says on the OpenCore Legacy Patcher and dosdude1 pages that the iMac will basically be unusable unless I upgrade to a metal GPU that will allow for full graphics acceleration. I see that you did not change the graphics card of the iMacs in the video, so I wanted to ask about your experience with graphics acceleration after upgrading to Ventura. Sorry if it's a bit long, but I would really appreciate your help)

    • @aoeaster
      @aoeaster  10 місяців тому +1

      I haven't had any problems with the graphics acceleration. A clean install using OCLP is recommended, and apply the patch when done, and you should be good.

    Can you do this without an external hard drive? or taking apart the computer? like i upgraded the ram on my computer and its at 14 gb. but i'm not trying to take it apart. is their any way to update the computer with using the internal hard drive that it currently has?

    • @aoeaster

      Yes, you can use your current internal HDD, but you might not enjoy it since it is too slow to give you an enjoyable experience on macOS Ventura.

      You can use the free software Macs Fan Control and choose a different sensor for the hard drive fan. I use "GPU Proximity" with a setting of 65°C. The iMac usually does not recognize the SSD's temperature sensor or may not have one.

    • @RubbemGrimaldo
      @RubbemGrimaldo 10 місяців тому

      @@nofox-ot3wv I have the same model but I never dared to do this upgrade with ventura... and the fan thing is a real annoyance, I always used the sensor on the HDD... and with your comment I discovered that it has the same effect of turning off on GPU proximity... Would that be enough or is there another trick you have?

    • @rinnin
      @rinnin 6 місяців тому

      @@RubbemGrimaldo You can put in a SATA Dual Power Y Splitter Adaptor Cable between the new SSD and iMac and this should remove the problem with the fans. I'm surprised OP didn't do this. The SSD resting on the cardboard box looks really dodgy also!
