He is one of the most underrated actors ever. He narrated a Star Wars book called “Darth Plagueis” and did such a masterful job I’m still in awe of it years later. He gave life to every character no matter how small a role they played and made them all come to life. A miraculous feet. Salute to you Sir. Thank you for sharing your wonderful skills with us!
Michael Landon was class act Wonderful story. We need more like him. I have a friend in TX that is a cousin of Dan Blocker. I also have great grandparents with the last name Davis...Southerners.
My dear Daniel, how wonderful of you to do this. I watch highway to heaven all the time, and of course, I remember the episode you were in very well. By the way, you look wonderful with your grey hair. I hope that you’re still working, and yes, Michael was taken away from us far too soon and Victor too 😢❤
Thank you so much for this video, Bonanza was filmed in my town, when Little House on the Praire started in 1974, I was 10/11 years old, I got to know Michael Landon I would skip school and watch the filming. in 1981 Michael gave m an audition and put me on the show. I have always been disabled on crutches, Michael was so great with everyone. Michael meant so much to me that I changed my middle name to Landon. I am Rich Landon Reeves.
Outstanding! It'll be hard to top this Cameo! So many things to love about this! First off it's remarkable Mr. Davis isn't from England but small town Arkansas (!) What a lovely voice to listen to. I'm so glad he gave you 12 minutes! How great is it that his first Hollywood job was from Michael! And an autobiographical role to boot! Michael gave him Pa's hat to wear 🤠 The fact that he and his buddies would watch Bonanza every Sunday night and now Michael's given him his break in the biz on the spot is what dreams are made of. I love that he got to tell him about his family's possible connection to Dan Blocker. It is cool that Blocker's real name was Bobby Dan Davis Blocker and his name is Daniel Davis. It touched me that Michael knew Dan's middle name so quickly. They both had fabulous 80's long hair 😄 Ok I knew Michael took care of his crew but to hear Daniel tell the story of Highway to Heaven's origin was amazing. He got emotional aww. I've said before how telling it is that each of your interviews has the person saying you couldn't be dedicated to a better person and I was happy that the streak continued with Mr Davis! Overall this was simply excellent! You sure picked a winner from the many people with Michael connections! Yay Helane!
So happy to hear from you on this one! Yes, this blew me away too! More to come! And of course last night I met Alison Arngrim and that was unbelievably amazing. Video to be uploaded later. Short but she’s hysterical.
What a lovely story about the most beautiful lovely human being. Thank you Helane it's wonderful to hear these absolutely amazing stories of Michael. Put a spanner in the works of a particular #!!!?. Love Michael Landon forever!!!!!
I was really touched by what Victor French told him. No doubt how generous Michael was. That's awesome, Helane! Thanks for sharing this precious video.
You’re welcome! Yes, to think Michael went on working to keep his crew employed! I was teary eyed listening to that. Thank goodness he did because Highway to Heaven is a gem.
This was great! I actually just watched Daniel’s episode of Highway to Heaven the other day and couldn’t help thinking that art might be imitating life just a little once I knew that Michael wrote it. And it is so wonderful that Michael took such good care of the people he worked with for years. Thanks for sharing!
what a great video and what a really nice guy daniel davis is for sharing his memories. my mam loved highway to heaven. it used to be on every day in england on one of the channels and she watched every episode. then they would repeat it from the beginning and she would watch it all again. when i would go around for sunday dinner we would watch it together. she passed away on xmas day 2016 but she continued to watch it until the day she died.
I never watched The Nanny(couldn't stand Fran Drescher's voice) but I love Daniel Davis' acting. He was superb as Moriarty on Star Trek: The Next Generation(of which he played Moriarty in several episodes), and this episode of Highway To Heaven is one of my favorites. That is so cool that he got to wear "Pa's" hat. I will have to watch that episode again because I never knew it was his Little House hat. But I often thought that the subject of this episode might have been autobiographical of Michael's life, and Mr. Davis just confirmed it. Didn't Michael even say(or someone close to him) that he played Pa on Little House the way he himself WANTED to be as a father and a husband? I would understand that because I felt the same way in watching him as Pa, as sort of a role model. Anyway, thanks for sharing, Helane! Mr. Davis sounds like a really nice guy. And it goes to show you how impacted he was in working with Michael by how in depth he goes in his memories of that time.
Yes, Michael definitely played Pa as a role model for the kind of father he wanted to be. The kind of father he never had. I also have to rewatch that episode to see the Little House hat! I did not know that either. Thanks for the wonderful comment.
What an awesome and generous cameo by Daniel. He forgets about how generous and nice man he himself is. This is truly a gem - thanks for sharing it.
Thank you! Yes, Daniel was so generous with his time and gave some great stories that I never knew.
He speaks beautifully! I love him on The Nanny. Fabulous actor. And seems to be a very nice man.
Thank you Ellen Nagel!! 😂

Dear Nile’s, I love you!!!
What a nice man to give such details. Thank you Daniel.
Enjoyed this man’s episode as the director actor whose non-showbiz kids vied to get his attention. It’s one I’ll rewatch sometime after this.

@@megancarney5250 Thank you!
It's so weird though. If you only have 2 credits to your name, those should get you any job on tv.
