I don't get your " I don't like the XOs inside the speaker comment. " Outside of powered speakers where you can see the XOs in their own chambers, you tend to see the XO inside the speaker. Of course if you're running OBs you have no 'insides'. ;-) Also not sure how much 'vibrations' you have from an XO. Do you have any measurements? Overall, the Radiants are great speakers. I think there are others that use Purifi drivers. Buchardt A10s for example. The other cool thing about the Purifi speakers and their PRs is that you can tune the PRs by adding weight so you can control how low they go. You can build something similar using a different AMT tweeter. Good review.
@@michaelsegel8758 you have some very good points here. The truth is, I have not measured this. It is just something I’ve always assumed, meaning if you don’t have the crossovers inside, you have more volume on the inside and less things to potentially vibrate over time, easier to fix or modify plus I think they can look beautiful incorporated on the outside without taking volume inside the speaker. I have seen some very nice ones on display at the CAF show. Also making that back wall from the same material as sides and even using it to brace the cabinet might be a better use of that space. I will have to do some measurements for a brand new speaker with and without crossovers on the inside and make a video about it. You are absolutely right about the Buchardt speakers that totally slipped my mind. I also just did a search and it turns out there’s a few speakers out now such as Matilde. I do have a studio monitor project scheduled for this channel and Purifi is gonna be one of the drivers I will be auditioning. I’ll also addition quite a few tweeters and make some wave guides for testing.
@@StasAudio In terms of volume, you can compensate, or you can ignore it. Especially if you're already calculating volume loss due to a dampening layer of material. (Some say put material over the boards, others say forget about it.) For many of the speakers, they sometimes split the boards into two smaller boards that you can fit thru the Woofer's hole in the baffle. Others make the back removable. I have seen some designs where the XO is in a separate space on the back, or in its own little box like you would find in an OB. Those tend to be builds where they could either go w a passive XO, or as an active speaker. Or where the speaker shape/volume can't hold the larger components. I do like the Purifi and building something like the Radiants. (AMT Tweeter, PR and the woofer (6.5" or 8" ) would be cool. Troels has a couple of Purifi plans on his site. Good luck and have fun.
@ thank you and that totally makes sense. Also, I will check out those plans. I have this design in my head for some time now that I believe is going to be very different yet familiar . I think these purifi drivers are gonna be the right fit.
@@_944audiophile he’s actually not the rep for Purifi he runs a local hi-fi group of enthusiast called DC-HiFi group. However, as soon as i can get the gen 2 module, I will A/B compare it to the original one and to the Hypex module directly. This will include technical measurements and subjective listening. I’m hoping for around February for this video.
He's not a rep. This is a community user group that put together a couple of systems. They got a shout out by couple of different YT reviewers. They also put together a system for $1500 that you could listen to and compare. That wasn't the Radiants and I think that they were some other member's personal pair. IIRC didn't Erin do a review?

Too bad the Rep doesn’t have a clue what he’s showing.
