Sophia Thakur this is my favorite duet poem. I don't like duet poems, but this one is too good and true. I lost my best friend because her man peeped the same thing and made her cut me off. she chose him over me and it hurt. but in his defense we used to say stuff like 'if we're both single at (insert age here) then we'll marry each other 😂 and the realist line was 'You're only friends as long as YOU say so'. if she ever threw it at me, I'd have swung away at it XD just the nature of men. if she's attractive, we want to sleep with her.

This is one of the videos that made me fall in love with spoken word poetry and also gave it a shot in 2013. I had to come back to watch it because it's my spoken word first love and I'm currently thinking of going back to doing spoken word poetry.
man... its like that some times... It's cool to get the girls insight on this subject, but to be honest, Just speaking for myself here, what she said is a hard pill to swallow as a man. I'm single now but when I was in a committed relationship I didn't like "friends". The thought of my girl needing another man in her life made me feel insecure about where I stood in her life. It created tension, or maybe I did. Great poem.

This is deep and I feel this speaks truth. Trust is an important things to have, but women need to understand that its not you we don't trust. Its the actual guy because honestly MOST not all guys would not pass up the opportunity to sleep with you if it could happen even if you did have a boyfriend or not.

This is crazy how true it is. They want to hug and talk 24/7 like they together but she ultimately wants to say that I am her bf. I can relate to this. this has happened to me on one occasion. Shout out to this crew that made this poem so perfect.
I watched this and 100% relate to every word! My girlfriend's got a number of "male best friends" and Im trying to not be that guy whos "controling" her. This creates insecurities to me, yeah you probably say but I should voice out how I feel, but how do you do that when you know shes got a shoulder to cry on when to you shes your only shoulder to cry on? Its like Im pouring myself out empty to her and yet she doesnt pour herself out empty to me, so I remain empty and she remains full, and when my empty self makes a lot of noise like an empty tin, she says Im just b!tchin... male best friends arent good in a relationship, so are female bestfriends. I told her once that attention is a currency in a relationship, and the little attention you give elsewhere is going to be like an investment that will grow and grow until it matures and God knows when will that be and how we will handle it, "we" probably wont, they are likely to handle it. Give a man the little time of yours a day, he can sell you the world and for women, some of you dont understand your weakness which is our strength, which is how we end up wiht you, thats what scares us, that we know he may say he is just a friend, we know you see him only as a friend and thats just you, but to him, the more attention he gets from you, the more he doesnt see my existence. Because if he sees and respects my presence, he wouldnt bother you in our time or even as much. Sophia said he cares like a bestfriend should...then if he cares, what am I here for? Am I not supposed to be your bestfriend? Who cares for you better between me and him? See what just happened? Now Im starting to compare me and him and this love is now a competition and youre not even aware youre the award! You think youre hanging on my neck like a medal yet youre really bending my neck and allowing yourself to slide out slowly...I dont know, Im hurt, everyday I think of this, and worse is we are in a long distance relationship, he stays closer to her, he sees her almost everyday, I love her with all my heart! It frustrates me when guys say "its not you we don't trust, it's him." Its offensive, because you're implying that I am incapable of saying 'no' if a sexual opportunity arises. When I'm with someone, I'm WITH that person and no one else. I've kicked guy friends out of my house and never spoken to them again because I could see their intentions. Girls are capable of saying no. We're capable or turning down situations that men may see as 'tempting'. Because there's nothing tempting about throwing away a lifetime of love for a night of lust.
But can u honestly say if ur boyfriend had a girl "best"friend, hanging out by themselves, talking on the phone about y'all arguments, having a special bond, that u wouldn't have a problem with that?

Nicole, it might not be any kind of implication. It might simply be the believable fact, that your SO trusts and knows you, way more than he knows your friend. I agree though, that you should trust your partner no matter what. With that said, did you notice in the video how the girl didn't deny any of her SO's ideas about her friend liking her more than a friend? She didn't deny or argue the thought of her friend having intimate feelings for her. This doesn't mean she thinks it's true, but that should have been the underlining explanation for his feelings; She instead overlooked that and said that when they part, they part as friends. She doesn't pay any mind to the fact that she is putting herself in situations whereby the supposed feelings her friend has for her could possibly grow; she doesn't pay any mind to the fact that her SO feels uncomfortable about her doing that.
She portrays "deal with it. I don't care. It's your insecurity."
If my SO felt insecure about a particular person in my life. The first thing I'd do is explain everything in detail to her. If she brings it up again or questions it more, I'd answer all her questions, and try to see her perspective as to why she felt that way. If I think she has a point and maybe my friend does seem to have feelings for me, I would distance myself from the person asap. In the case where she could be overreacting, I'd try to persuade her. And if she brought it up once again, and told me that it really makes her uncomfortable, I wouldn't question it further. Regardless of my friend's intent, if it makes my SO feel that way, I'd choose my SO's happiness/comfort over a friend.
Watch the news, it shows that the word no doesn't mean jackshit for some people. and don't say but he's my friend he would never do that. The rapist, the pedophile, the criminal is always the the nice neighbour nobody expects it from. stop being naive.

Nice, this highlights all the common faults in modern relationships and how complicated it is for a couple to do the most simple thing and communicate.
Your significant other should be your best friend. Also she should never confide in another man, only women, about her relationship problems. Also being on the phone past 9/10pm with another man is definitely crossing boundaries, no excuse. #lovethis!

Guy is 100% right. Why can't girls confide in other girls or family members when it comes to their man? If your 'best friend' puts more effort into you than your family and girl friends then he clearly is doing it because he knows he is getting something out of it for himself. I don't have a problem with ladies and friends. However, if you are in love with someone, they should fill in that position of "Best Friend". Communication is so important, and if your spouse has to go to another man/woman for some peace, then someone's fucking up. Couples problems should be handled by the people involved, if a mediator is necessary than get one.
