Awesome stuff. I bought my old ZX6R from a guy who was in his 60's. I have the opposite problem: people often say I'm too young for these bikes. I was 18 on my CBR600. I'm responsible though.
Both bikes are winners, although your BMW is stand out lol, glad to see the blurred number nobody needs to see online, nowadays like the plate number you can't be too safe 🙈
I'm partial to the 2024 R1M, I have same setup SC Project, BrenTune, etc... I was not impressed with brakes so upgraded to Spiegler Braided Stainless Front & Rear, and Brembo rotors, calipers, & MC up front, night & day difference. BMW is beautiful, but I needed a brake from European bikes for a while...
Isn't the r1 the only flat plane motor in a liter bike? Not sure the difference between that and the m but sounds the same. Very distinctive sound once you've heard it. Like the 5.2L mustang motor is a flat plane and revs amazingly quick.
Haven't rode or kept up with the sport bike world much since I was in my 20s but seeing John doing both makes me miss it. First was an 03 gsxr1000 and had 3 after that. Addictive....
EVERY 1000cc inline 4 sounds identical (CBR1k, ZX10, GSXR1k, S1K, M1k..once you throw a full system they all sound identical), ....there is only 1 bike that sounds like an R1!!! If only the clipons were a bit taller.... :-P. Ilmberger makes a PERFECT bellypan for the S1K John....
@@IamKried I would love to hear how....LOLZ. Yeah the MT10 may sound like an R1....other than that there are no other flat plane cranks out there. All other 1000cc inline 4's are an identical design and are basically the same....and have been for all my 40 years of riding and working on bikes.
@@redrider0151 I mean I can distinctly tell bikes by they’re gearing and pitch from the interstate next to me, maybe when you’re close to a bike sound is just sound but from a distance you can differentiate each bike
@@IamKried I can tell you immediately whether a bike is an inline 4, Ltwin, v-four, 3 cylinder.....I can tell you one bike from another if I am already familiar with whose bike it is.....however if I lined up 4-5 inline 4 literbikes, with the same type exhaust and put you in a blindfold and started them, I would bet pretty much anything that you would simply be guessing as to which is which.... thats all I am saying.....an R1 is an absolute distinct sound that no other bike is going to remotely replicate. Its literally the only one (besides an MT 10) that is a crossplane crank and sounds the way that it does.
Love seeing you geezers ride. Im 60 Saturday, getting the RR.
I am 55 and have a 2024 M1kRR... 😀. I get a lot of looks and questions when I show up at bike night...LOLZ

Cross plane engine definitely unique
Both sound good but I personally like the sound of the S1K better.
Wow I love the sound of the yamaha R1M…need to find out more about that bike….

Amazing video
Both bikes look great and sound fantastic. 👍

Yes, definitely a belly pan for that r1m . I installed the fullsix on my R1M and it really cleaned up the bike . Love to meet up
BMW all day! How often do you ride during the week? And how often do you wash the bike? It always looks fantastic my friend! Ride safe brother🙏
Superbe bro 😊❤
Love the BMW, but there's nothing like the sound of the boxer engine. Will probably never get rid of my R9T.
The BMW for the Win!
Its hard to beat that CP4 growl ....
I think the BMW sounds a bit smoother then the R1M, but both bikes sound amazing nonetheless
Love the R1 but I'm a BMW guy

Powertrain wise, same bike. The M is their premium package R1 with its own unique paint scheme, carbon fibre bits and electronic ohlins suspension
R1 is cross plane 4... R1M is essentially same engine, but adds Ohlins electronic suspension, carbon fairings, & titanium headers.
@@gz4789 base R1's from 2015-2019 have titanium headers too. The R1S and 2020+ R1's do not. Price hike and stainless steel headers. Go figure lol

Your S1000 clearly sounds better!
Yamaha sounds better.
