- Llwyn Celyn near Abergavenny has been shrouded under emergency scaffolding for a decade. The Landmark Trust spent over two years restoring this medieval manor house to its former glory. Now, Llwyn Celyn is reborn thanks to our generous supporters and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
On a warm September's day, supporters of Llwyn Celyn were treated to a VIP tour of the property.

Stunning!
So wonderful to see Llwyn Celyn saved for future generations and looking so gorgeous. Well done The Landmark Trust, The National Lottery for supportive funding and the hard working volunteers and craftsmen and women. A positive beacon of light shining on a Welsh gem. Thank you all for saving her! Perfection.
Thank you, Landmark Trust for your wonderful work on this and all your properties. Thoroughly enjoyed all the videos about this restoration. Having worked on our own (more modest) late Medieval Hall house of identical age I could identify with the kinds of decisions that you had to make.
Keep up the good work. 👍 Mike.
Really pleased to see this project completed and privileged to have assisted in providing ecological support. Look forward to seeing it being loved by visitors and the community. Well done to The Landmark Trust and all those who kindly donated to make this possible.
Amazing, beautiful and precious, thank you. South africa 🇿🇦
Real craftsmenship.
It’s a shame after all that not to have any video of the bedrooms & bathrooms , or any before and after footage.
So wonderful. I'm so glad they didn't use thatch. It has to be replaced every 10 years or so. That would be difficult to sustain.
No, it lasts for almost 50 years!
Truly chilling change, impossible work made gorgeous exhibit of restoration work. Even i dont like modernization of house i understand it when it has to be kept going on as living house, and for display. I would live there in original state, time tripping, and have solar panes and own well, so it is independent like in history. Light electric installations to couple of rooms, nowdays is able to get such electric systems that it doesn't require permanent installations.
It would have been nice to have heard a local Welsh accent
Would the interior walls be un plastered rather than lime plastered?
Curious if at the very end the two gents in the center of the frame are the brothers a who sold Llwyn Celyn
This has been executed to protect the inside of what you can achieve with the pickings from the local land
It's really concerning that gambling is not only promoted but validated and encouraged through projects like this.
Being a pessimist, I can only hope efforts like this would encourage other corporate / organisations to take up the cause of saving national heritage.
@@zachtbh Legalized gambling is a tax on people who can't afford to gamble. Politicians who promote gambling as a way to fund these restoration projects are a disgrace.

Haha what
??? How does it have anything to do with gambling?
