    Good work making that remote train. I’m not a Harry Potter collector, I have no HP sets but I’ll say that if I were I’d rather have the motorized train you’ve built over the new one. For sure

    The RC LEGO hagwards Express looks fantastic

  • @pricyplasticproductproduct7337

    The thing about the massive $500 train is that it's 12 studs wide, which means it can't make turns around standard Lego tracks. So the designers chose a larger detailed interior over remote control, because you can't have both and they wanted to bring something new to the table

    Oh yeah easy peasy, if anybody wants the working train set. Just get the small train it self and then add the materials ya need to order to have fun with the train set. I got mine a while ago and still love it, and with this piece of info, now I can get the sets I need to order to have it working awesome ^^

    You're much better than me. I bought two sets so I could have two carriages but you've used some of the parts from the second set to build a caboose too! I have just placed the locomotive and tender of the second set in my front-of-house display, where I have all the modulars plus some other buildings and my two mocs from the Brick Bank. One of the displays is that cool station from about a decade ago - the truncated Hogwarts train goes well with it. But now I'm heading to Rebricable to get the instructions to transform the longer train into a motorized version, thanks.

    i’m looking for a way to motorize it with gears so the drive rod actually moves like it should be. just seems unrealistic to put the motor under the tender you know? not sure if this is just me lol but i mean at least it works in general lol

    I actually really like the new Hogwarts Express. My biggest complaint is that the engine is a bit clunky looking because they decided to taper the front for some reason, even though the actual train does not taper. Lego has made other versions that can be motorized, so a shelf version that is nearly minifig scale is nice IMO.

    Hey Bricksie, what instructions did you use to build the trolley car? 2 sets is all that is needed to get the additional tender and trolley?

  • @dicloniusgames
    @dicloniusgames Рік тому +3

    Personally, I think the one they released for $500 was for hardcore Harry Potter fans and diehard collectors. Plus no matter if you put the platform in front or behind the train, it ruins the set no matter what. While I like the addition of the 20 minifigs, I could see this being a major flop with the exception of diehard Potter fans who have to have everything.

  • @stijnd5268

    The thing is with this version of the hogwarts express is that it looks to childish/inaccurate for me. So now I have the dilemma that I have to either choose for an accurate train that can't drive, or a really toyish/childish version that can at least drive,

    • @infraredbricks
      @infraredbricks Рік тому +1

      I think that there are rebrickable instructions that mod the train to make it look better by adding parts while using the set as a base

    • @stijnd5268
      @stijnd5268 Рік тому +2

      @Legendied Yeah but that will always be more expensive, plus I really like the experience of getting brand new pieces, nicely sorted in bags with a good high quality paper instruction book. I have my own train mocs but there is just something about opening an actual lego set that gives satisfaction.

    Someday Lego is going to realize that they made an error during the pandemic they got an influx of fans unfortunately they seem to be of the opinion that people want $500 dust collectors or $350 action hero bust dust collectors as a retired Lego reseller there is a small market for these sets very small but ultimately at the end of the day people need to realize Lego is a toy and they want to play with it and they want to zoom it around their Lego City table but yeah Lego seems to have lost the point

    • @Montyh7
      @Montyh7 Рік тому

      I honestly don't understand these comments. There was a niche market for larger sets, that is evident by instructions for non stable massive sets on Rebrickable that cost a fortune in bricks to make. Further, people have paid a lot for Lego before and since the pandemic, some mini figures are $2k plus. What Lego are doing, finally, is offering a range of sets to another part of the market, it doesn't replace their current line-up, they literally have 100's of play and display sets out, including a Harry Potter Train.
      These sets are for a different market altogether. Honestly, I don't want a room devoted to train tracks and a city (that personally doesn't appeal to me in the slightest) and many, many people don't. Some people want large display sets, the build is fun and they look cool. This doesn't mean Lego stopped making other sets, it means they now cater to a broader market. Not sure why people feel that everything has to be for them personally, Lego sell enough sets and enough themes at a broad range of prices to suit everyone. Gatekeeping Lego is just so weird to me.

    Even as a display piece, the new Hogwarts Express misses the mark. The red and brass colors are wrong, the cab is less detailed, it has stickers, and the station platform is shorter than even one single passenger car.

    I attempted to this with 2 hogwarts sets and a partial realy old one then went cray and got 3 motor assembly and a single hub all Chinese and made the Loco way to long to not derail also noted tandems g the old school style top plug motors in tandem made each run at a slower speed than the preceeding so I'm still tinkering on the engineering end for what I wanted to be a realy impressive locomotive that just in practicality didn't work out and needs to be either 1 standard 2 wheel Trai. Drive or gear boxes iff an xl motor debating methodology there as I've had issues when doing across drive wheel braces with resistance and drag friction I keep playing around with a bunch of ideas that don't seem to pan out terribly well just tonight fighting which a off brand impressive locomotive well suited to motorising with a gear driven drive train that unfortunately overcame a standard m motor and dosnt lend well to space wise incorporating an xl so I've som thinking to do on that in pieces on my work table while I suspect it out
