- No. 1 Stanford plays No. 3 Arizona in the National Championship Game of the 2021 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament.
The Cardinal win its first national championship since 1992 after surviving a one-point win in the title game against the Wildcats, right after winning their Final Four game by one point as well. Sophomore Haley Jones led Stanford with 17 points, including what would become the game-winning basket and free throw in the final minute of the game.

McDonaldDonnell good but she didn't trust in her teammates on last possession. A girl was wide open and cut in from three point line.
Exactly she saw the triple defense comin for her should have passed it 🤦🏻♂️
If she could somehow make the ball go right through the Stanford defenders' arms then maybe it would have worked
@@DanielSong39 Getting a foul at that point would have put her on the line for 3 free throws.
Her teammates did show anything from the perimeter tonight. So why now
@@mrpaulyd25 the girl on the right wing at the 3 point line didn't cut inside, until 2 seconds were left. I doubt a pass and shot could have been made, in that time frame. The girl on the wing should have immediately broken inside, then it could have been pulled off.
6:20 Ana definitely catches passes from her Brother Russell Wilson..the reflexes on that 🙌🏼
Cant believe its over but this tournament been amazing. Shouts to Haley Jones and Congrats to Stanford. Good run Arizona, Aari McDonald and Adia Barnes got some new fans this tourney
Congrats to Stanford... National Champions... the best team, the best players, the best athletes, and a great coach. Great game.
Could have been into OT, that missed free throw is crucial
That missed free throw is gonna haunt her. She had an excellent tournament performance
True, in these kind of close game, it’s crazy to think that any miss from any quarter can be the reason why a team loses a game
Had she passed that ball to her wide open teammate after being tripled, they could’ve won 🤦🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
@@scrutinizethis so open
@@scrutinizethis They were just standing around they should have cut to the basket for a layup.
Arizona stand proud you ladies played one helluva game. Stanford your played a helluva game both teams should be proud of yourselves..!
My first ever basketball game watched was when my Cats beat UConn in the Final Four. This was my second ever full game watched and boy was it a nailbiter. Arizona fought hard! 🐻⬇️
My first time watching a full game. Only because I fkkk with Stanford Heavy
Uconn fan here but the game is so good. Congrats to both of you especially Stanford. 🏆 Respect to these 2 great teams.
no cap a Baylor vs South Carolina game woulda been so fun to watch
6 seconds left and that's the best play you could come up with??? McDonald is obviously their best player but damn she's hella selfish with the rock, and she ended up costing her team with that selfishness. I mean McDonald had an Arizona player in the corner WIDE OPEN and instead she decides to shoot a heavily contested 3 pointer over 3 defenders lmao what was she thinking?
WTF those ladies did their best they give it all your not in the situation imagine the pressure they've got in that last 6 seconds it's just not their day
McDonald sucks I prefer Wendy
@@MrRagusauce not in & out?😅😅
The final four teams were fun to watch. Still think South Carolina should have been in the finals but Stanford did that
Same. That kick ball no call was killer.
even in this game. Arizona should have had the possession probably minute before the end of regulation with kianna William's kicking the ball out of bounds but the stupid refs missed it and didn't even bother looking at the replay to get it right
@@tootspogsforever5590 they actually called a foul on that play.
blame aliyah boston for missing…she missed how many close shots like that?
@@blehlee6745 Quite a few. Well, if Stanford can win this next week against UConn we could be looking at a rematch between SC and Stanford from the last years Final Four. It would be fun since Brink has gotten a ton better. Her 10-15 ft midrange game is so spot-on this season, but I feel that they'll have a big challenge to contend with UConn.
Both teams did well. Congratulations Stanford on winning the national championship. Better luck next year Arizona.
As soon you think Stanford have the Momentum. Arizona came back. But they just can’t get over the Humps. Go Cardinals. You ladies Deserve to win.
I'm not into sports but WOW I watched this game from start to finish what a great game! Congrats to Stanford!
😐
Welcome to the sports life.
@@aj42k Thanks! My 9yr old daughter loves women's basketball so sometimes I get caught up in it 😂

Great game between two great teams. What a way to finish!
This time there was no foul, it was great defense
@Stanic Daniel Sorry you team did not win
I have a similar opinion about the UCLA/Gonzaga semifinal, that game was the worst (I was rooting for UCLA)
Pretty wild that Stanford only had 2 free throw attempts for this entire game, against a very physical UA defense
I for sure thought Arizona was gonna get in foul trouble.
Pretty wild that i was actually bored enough to watch this highlight

The final 8 or final 4 teams this year gave all the fans a treat...amidst all this COVID shit..it's good to watch that there are now people watching in the arena and boy o boy those games are fun to watch..congrats to all the teams..this is truly a March madness..
I cant believe i missed seeing this live. Such a great game!
What a terrible final shot. 3 defenders converging, could have made an easy pass with 2-3 seconds left for a wide open look
Just like last night with the UCLA's Juzang drive before the OT.
Atleast she got a shot off lol, u must not know how hard it is to pass out of a triple team who all got height on you..
It’s women’s basketball you think they know what’s going on ?😂😂🤣
@@fedfreds832 Yet somehow, you’re here watching . They must be doing something right
@@Meh4991z lmao I actually just tuned in for the last play an it was kinda embarrassing coming from a man and knowledge of basketball lmao
Bro wow! What a game
Dang great game from both teams she got to trust her teammates when it comes to big plays like that
Congratulations Stanford
Incredibly sloppy game, missed shots and turnovers all over the place; but still congrats to Stanford on getting their first women's championship since 1992.
If McDonald would dribble with her head up she had a wide open person for the layup under the basket at the end
true but size matters, she may not have been able to pass out of that triple team even if she tried to make the correct play
Not happening when you have 3 6 foot cardinals swarming her plus it’s a lot easier to say imagine being on the floor 6 seconds left everyone screaming it’s a tunnel vison then
@@svtkilr nah lmao she was wide open , she just tried to solo , tragic not a team player
Wow! What a game!!!
Hard to believe that with all the great Stanford teams down the years and the rise of other Pac 12 powers like Oregon and Oregon State and now UCLA and Arizona that the Pac 12 hadn't won a championship since 92 when Stanford last did it. I could have sworn Stanford had won in the early 2000s once. Anyway, Pac 12 was long overdue. Congrats to the Cardinal and the Conference. Great representation both in the men's and women's tournaments.
Stanford did beat a tough Uconn team in the final four the early 2000s so I assumed they won that year. Also Oregon would have won last year if it wasn't for the virus.
I'm confused as anybody Mr.Stone, I've asked that question also.
@@herbertgomez4112 I had to look it up. They beat Uconn in 2008 final four and then lost in the finals. They also lost to Uconn in the 2010 finals. They have also been to more final fours then I can count including the late 90s. I'm an Oregon fan and it feels like Stanford has won more championships. Although I do think Oregon would have won last year if there was a tournament but it was nice ending that year with a 20 point win over Stanford when Stanford won it all the next year. Oregon was the 2020 champions and Stanford is the 2021 champions as far as I'm concerned but Oregon will be back.
@@zeaferjones1404 I concur with your findings also Mr. Jones. I also looked it up. That's what makes Basketball so great, We fans have loyalty's to our teams every year. I'm ( UCONN ) fan, always will be.
They deserve this "one shining moment", mates!
Really tried to shoot through the triple team instead of passing
Ya she really should have
Exactly, she should have been a decoy and live with some one else taking a clearer shot! Both had a chance to win!
She’s very little it’s very hard passing over tall defenders cut her some slack
Her teammates should go get the ball or cut.
Teammates fault and hers. She’s too short to see over that and while she was only one on one, 0 stood and did nothing instead of cutting. Nobody moved on Arizona except her
Excellent game. Both teams played with a lot of heart and exhibited great skills. Congrats to the lady Cardinals and lady Wildcats. You should all be proud of yourselves.
One heck of a game!

Great Game 🏀🏆🥇🥈🥉💡
Classic mane such a good game 🎉🎉
Mcdonald should have passed it and she knows it !!!
Fr
McDonald is a great player, but the play called was idiotic. Coach blew it, not McDonald.
Lol if you look at the play again they did not want the ball.
Everybody knew where it was going.
Aari supporting cast was bricking open shots all game what makes you think they were going to hit a game winner
She's so arrogant, happy it ended that way.

Damn....Great game!
Pass the damn ball.
Her teammates weren't moving they wanted her to take the shot.

This was my first time fully watching a women's basketball game.
Hey, my LadyCats! I couldn't have asked for more! I was in downtown San Antone for this nail biter! What a great game! This game was the limpidity of '....the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat...'......Tucson will still welcome you home with hugging arms wide open! Congrats to you also Stanford gals....I hope that your stay in the Alamo City was also a fun time! All you ladies rock!!!
Would’ve been crazy if she hit that last shot
YEP Arizona has more fans than Stanford
Pass the damn ball girl was wide open in the corner
Ball would have been deflected or stolen
@@DanielSong39 thank you Cameron Brink was actually baiting to see id Aari was going to try that pass
Trust me no body was passing the ball 🏀 at this game lol
Her bad shot was maybe better then their open shot!
Stanford are both lucky to win both games especially the semis. The basketball gods must be on their side
I wouldn’t call leading the whole game luck. The cards came and played great. They made tough shots, champions make tough shots. Winning the lottery is luck, winning an NCAA tournament isn’t luck at all

McDonald pullled a SHAMGOD move on that last inbounds play! Too bad she got caught up & missed the shot. AZ had many opportunities to get the win. Tuff loss but GREAT GAME
Cant wait to see stanford vs uconn
Good job Stanford women 👏🏾👏🏾
Pretty good game.
Arizona did not loose that game, mcdonald lost it for arizona! As soon as that 3rd defender came in to cover her, she should have looked for the open woman!
Without McDonald's output, there is no game to lose..
If it wasn't for Mcdonald, they wouldn't even have made the national championship game; you're clearly on drugs. Everyone has an off game or off moment.
wow stanford dodged bullets two games in a row
Congrats!💐💐💐💐
Now this is what you call a great Championship game , could of went either way, NCAAW basketball has elevated more then ever, it’s so interesting, both teams played there hearts out, Arizona defense is insane, it’s to beyond, but Congratulations to Stanford Cardinal on willing the COVID Championship, they deserve it, they had the toughest road to get there, well due to the pandemic players get a free year I believe, so hopefully both teams Arizona & Stanford keep there seniors, there both only going to get better, I can’t wait to next season when they meet up in the regular season twice in PAC 12, & hopefully even the tournament again, Amazing
I think Mcdonald and Williams declared for the draft
Couldve
Jones is a baller too
Pac 12....no longer mediocre conference....i respect stanford womens team as a UCLA fan
Stanford 👏👏👏
those Pac10 teams sure know how to compete.
PAC 12 but I get it, most ppl still thinks it’s pac 10
Congrats to stanford for the win. The ending was unbearable to watch. Both teams with absolutely no idea what to run at the end of the game, off of timeouts no less. Otherwise its was a great game to watch.
Men either
Today I learned that womens basketball is more exciting than mens basketball.
🤣🤣🤣 This guy is a comedian
BANG!!!!!!!!!
Last shot almost went lol
She shifted the defense like 3 times enough to get the shot off but i guess she wasn't sure she had enough space to get the shot off. She still got off a fading contested three that almost went in tho imagine👀
The women brought it this year. Feels like the women's tourneys from back in the day!!! Put some respect on those ladies and all the women players!
Crush ko si hull!💕💕💕
#23 OF STANFORD AIN'T NO JOKE🃏 !
She was terrible and nearly cost them the championship.
classic game
This why i frickin hate!!! The 3 pt shot!! Arizona had plenty of time to work for a 2pt shot!!! Stanford knew mcdonald was getting the ball!! All she had to do was draw the double team comin SOMEONE WOULD HAVE BEEN OPEN FOR A HIGH PCT SHOT DAAAMmmm!!!#
Excellent point. Major strategical error on McDonald's part.
still dribbling to this day... why no cut behind the D before taking the in bounds pass?
I’m sure McDonald is critizing herself enough no need for you guys too as well, she played great in the finals.
shot 5 of 20😂
How does coach keep someone in line up who didn't score at all 1st 2nd 3rd and then 4th period ...her teammates didn't show up...also got beat down low.
Memories I am blessed22
I was disappointed when Aari MacDonald and her Arizona teammates took out my team in the semis, but was heartbroken for her when her all out effort came up short against Stanford. Though I loved watching the amazing Outstanding Player Haley Jones, I think the Outstanding Player for the Tournament has to be the overachieving MacDonald. But Congratulations to all the women who make Women’s Athletics the thing to watch for me.
The hards games to lose are 3 points are less...great job from both teams...
Och by one point 😂
Gonzaga's win over UCLA ( men''s) last night was one of the greatest collegiate games ever. Kudos to both women's teams here UA and Stanford... thanks for your hard work and efforts...great tournament.
i had no idea they played already

Abysmal play call or execution on the last shot. You want to go with your best player, except when she's being defended by 4 players. There was no other option called. She had to throw up a Hail Mary and was in tears because she couldn't deliver on an impossible play.
Ya idk what she was thinking horrible play by her I mean she got her whole team opened
Yeah the whole team just stood there watching. 0 was wide open and didn’t cut.
Darn!!! Arizona is so badass, nonetheless. Much scrappier than clean-cut Stanford. Hope to see them proliferate next year.
I like the excitement of the male announcer. He should be doing the mens games too.
McDonald needs to learn to pass at the end, she let her ego cost her a title. Her teammates were wide open near the basket. Kudos to Stanford they knew she was going to play hero ball and set the defense up to let anyone else besides her win the game
The fact that it’s the championship and the court still says final four... I hate that the ncaa does that. Seeing “National Championship” on the court would literally up the atmosphere even more. Promise.
Her teammate was wide open for the WIN in the corner 3 defenders on #2 🤐😵 8:38

she missed 15 field goals and made countless bad decisions in my estimation.. I wouldn't call this particular performance amazing

Great, competitive basketball game with a terrible finish. The last play is to give it up, isolate, and have four players just standing around, watching her get tripled team? No movement, no screens, nothing. If the coach for Arizona has pride in herself as a coach, the failure to come up with any type of play there will haunt her.
Should have called timeout at the end
