So, I've had the original A-10C module since before DCS World existed and I've never done anything more than the training missions (a couple dozen times each) and free flight before getting frustrated & burnt-out and giving up for a few months or years. Today I did the guns/rockets tutorial again and had zero misses with the rocket runs. Historically, I've never destroyed more than two or three of the initial target vehicles before running out and I'd try with the guns (less terrible with those, but still not good at all). Not only did I get all six, I had leftover rockets for the other targets and took out a few. Guns cleaned up _all_ the rest (including non-target support vehicles on the range) with my most effective runs ever--I actually had rounds left over to commit war crimes with. Thanks, Ralfi!

About the CBU-87 lack of effectiveness. Hello. I'm new to DCS and your channel (I JUST SUBSCRIBED.) I am looking to have a computer built for me. Until then have a few questions! 1. On station six, the centerline, under PODS there is a BRU-42LS listed. I know the BRU-42 is a Triple Ejector Rack (TER) but how does in populate with the ordnance I choose? I've downloaded the manual but it didn't give me the information I was looking for. I don't know if it auto populate or maybe re-arming is a two step process or what. I know that after I get my DCS set up there will come a time when I will want to put three bombs on the centerline. THANK YOU AND BLESS.
When you go to actually arm the aircraft, and you go to the center pylon, you go and select the weapon you want, and depending on how it's setup, some weapons will come with certain types of racks, others won't. So you're really just choosing the weapon and then what type of rack it's attached to. At 1:21 you see that in action, those are your only options. In the mission editor you can also have a bit more felxibility but you are limited to what you can do.
As a side note. From my understanding (someone correct me if I’m wrong), there is no reason to ever *not* take the Mk-82 AIR versions. They can also be dropped in “slick” mode (without the chutes). To do this, simply select the nose fuse option only instead of the default nose/tail option in the DSMS profile.
I believe you are correct. That’s how I would do it. But I’m sure that’s a lot of extra work for someone without a HOTAS. People are lazy these days. lol.
Srs setups are on yt already, and talking on a mp server is already covered by two videos i did on that subject. Check ep2 description i think where i linked both vids.

Hi ralfidude Thank you for the very helpful tutorials, Keep them coming I'm learning so much. Can you tell me the best online servers to practice the weapons please. or did you create the targets within mission editor?
hey quick question, at 20:14 there is a tiny circle that flashes around those impact points, what is that? Is it showing where the HE rounds are hitting, and does anyone know how it knows where they hit?
technically I had pre recorded a few episodes forward. So what I meant was that the next actual recordings of future episodes would be in the new version. ;)
Outstanding video series. I've learned a lot of things I didn't know, even though I've watched every A10 video there is over the years. I keep hearing about the splash damage in DCS being crap. Are they ever planning to fix this?

I'm having such a terrible issue with the gun pipper being way at the top of the hud. No matter how shallow or steep the dive, the pipper is cut off at the top of the hud. With my ir tracker I have to duck and might be able to see half the pipper. I'm so frustrated.
@@ralfidude I've tried doing that but then I cut the bottom of the hud off. It's like the bore of the aircraft is way off. I've seen other tutorials including yours where the gun is set to ccip and you might be flying level and see the pipper on the ground I don't know let's say indicating 3-4 miles. My ccip pipper is never pointing at the ground it's almost pointed up in the air. I MUST be in a bank to get any ccip. I cannot get any initial ccip while flying level then go into a dive. I don't remember it being like this. But I literally put my seat at the lowest point and still have a hard time with the ccip pipper at the loss of must hud info lol. One way I can remember how bad it is, if you reset the mavrick wagon wheel to the bore point, my gun ccip is actually like 5 degrees higher than that. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
@@ralfidude thanks I appreciate it. Burned through your A10 tutorials today....now I need to rewatch again because I already overloaded the old brain. I appreciate these videos and thanks for the response!
What this video does not include is, how to set this mission up? What map is it? Do you have to change anything or did you just select an instant action? Thank you so much for your efforts!
@@ralfidude it’s strange…. I choose Instant Action, A10c-2, Nevada, Cold Dark. It loads into the mission and the waypoints are just other airports, one is just the city of LV, etc. there’s only a few. I’ve learned that if selecting the “mission” dial instead of “flt plan” it keeps your flight plan steerpoints but adds onto the end all airfields on the map, kinda nice. But flying around Nevada, I see no targets to hit, unless I just pick random map buildings, etc.
@@JustinOhio that's not a mission that has units placed for you to kill. It's the cold and dark mission to start the jet from cold and practice that and fly around some. The other instant missions will have units to kill. Read the descriptions of each thing, the briefings too...
@@ralfidude Okay, thank you for taking the time to respond. I know you get this a lot but I wanted to say to you...I've owned this module for many years (the update also) and never once had I even fired a weapon. There were probably 3-4 times in the past I had attempted to learn it, along with reading the manual cover to cover, twice (over the years). Your videos are the first time I've been able to actually start to become proficient with the A10c and you're doing a great thing here. I really liked that you had a lesson on firing weapons before even learning the TGP, as that's how pilots did it back before they started adding technology to the plane. Seriously, thank you so much for all of your efforts. You've enabled myself and many others to finally enjoy what they've paid for. Any other aircraft tutorials you do I'll be following. Cheers!
Can you clarify the trigger stages for gun pac? Is it a soft pull hard pull or a key modifier? I am running a logitec so I am npt sure I have a multi stage trigger. Thanks
@@ralfidudeoh so I need to set a button to engage it then. I bought the A10C 10 years ago and just always assumed the pac worked automatically when I pressed the gun trigger. Wow thanks.
You have the best DCS tutorials on the A10 I have found so far. Everytime I reinstall the game after years of not playing, I usually have to watch tutorials to get back into it. I just picked up the mig21 bis. Hopefully you will have tutorials for that one someday.
@@ralfidude thank you! you know actually I like CCIP more than CCRP. Perhaps I have to use it much more often. Great Tutorial btw! I learned a lot in just 2 days now
Nope, this ties in to Episode 5. The A-10 knows where it is in 3d space, and it has a topographical map of the thearter it's in. So, if you point the plane in a direction, then all the plane has to do is continuously compute where the impact point is using simple trajectory math. On the HUD we see it smoothly show us the impact point because it's doing that calculation over and over again many times a second and showing you the result which is represented by the impact point on the HUD.
@@taylorc2542 Not really. It uses the GPS to do the self aligment on the ground. Then it uses accelerometers to feel the changes of the plane and translates that into motion. So then it goes, okay, it feels like we're moving 15 knots north west now, and it adds that from the start point. Then every single motion you make with the plane keeps getting added to the last point, so on and so forth. And it keeps track of this in 3D space of where it thinks it is. So if there is a hill there, it's because there is a hill on the topographical map in front of it.
@@ralfidude I don't think inertial navigation would be accurate enough to place a gun piper on a tank after flying around for a couple hours. I'm gonna look into it.
@@taylorc2542 The planes experience INS drift after a long time, but they self correct for it in some way. In DCS there are a couple of aircraft that do not experience drift, like the A-10C. Pure GPS guidance for military aircraft would be an incredibly stupid idea since in today's modern world, militaries are capable of using GPS jammers, which would render all of your planes useless.

@@captainkrk88 go to the ED discord and ask for help there. They will sort you out.
@@ralfidude thanks I appreciate it. Burned through your A10 tutorials today....now I need to rewatch again because I already overloaded the old brain. I appreciate these videos and thanks for the response!
Is the pipper bugged for the GBUs ?

Cheers!
whats the song at the end?
Stupid newbie question. What mission are you flying that allows to to upload the weapons of your choice?
Any friendly airfield allows you to do that. Needs to be your coalition with at least one ground unit on the airfield to act as crew chief.
Excellent tutorial. even to a non native in English.
How to you get that yellow thing
Can you clarify the trigger stages for gun pac? Is it a soft pull hard pull or a key modifier? I am running a logitec so I am npt sure I have a multi stage trigger. Thanks
Two clicks, first stage, then second stage. You'd need two buttons.
Nothing wrong with the CBU-87 if you use it properly in an appropriate situation
Left Alt comma doesn’t work. Help!
that was an awsome tutorial
soooo, what song is that in the outro?

@@ralfidude much obliged
When I want to drop a Mk82 in CCRP, it says ,,CCRP INVALID'' in the Hud.
Because you haven't made a SPI
@@ralfidude thank you! you know actually I like CCIP more than CCRP. Perhaps I have to use it much more often. Great Tutorial btw! I learned a lot in just 2 days now
these videos (and the ones on twitch) are amazing. Please can you do the same for the F18? Keep it up :)
We don't deserve ralfi...he's too powerful
How does CCIP know what's in front of the plane. Is it always running a rangefinder?
Nope, this ties in to Episode 5. The A-10 knows where it is in 3d space, and it has a topographical map of the thearter it's in. So, if you point the plane in a direction, then all the plane has to do is continuously compute where the impact point is using simple trajectory math. On the HUD we see it smoothly show us the impact point because it's doing that calculation over and over again many times a second and showing you the result which is represented by the impact point on the HUD.
@@ralfidude It's using GPS to know there's a hill up there?
Pure GPS guidance for military aircraft would be an incredibly stupid idea since in today's modern world, militaries are capable of using GPS jammers, which would render all of your planes useless.
whats the diffrrence between the CBU 87 and 97?
will cover in later lesson. Bomblets vs skeets.
