  • I picked up the ‪@VortexOpticsUSA‬ Triumph HD 10x42 several weeks ago at a local big box retailer because I was intrigued in the $99.99 price point and how Vortex claimed it was putting out good performance. In summary, it is surprisingly not bad. Watch the video or read more at www.ocabj.net/...

    FYI: After I published my video and article, I sent in the Triumph HD to Vortex to address the clicking/chattering focus knob and they sent me a brand new Triumph HD which does not have the issue.

      @@Joshkayla8487 The absolutely are. I dropped one of my reddot turret covers in the long grass under my buddy's porch and I called them. They sent me TWO free of charge, along with a cap. I was also shopping for a specific model of scope back a dozen or so years ago and they absolutely flipped the US looking for it through all their dealers they had sold that model to until they found that scope. Seriously, I will never buy anything else now.

    I bought one today and I am satisfied with the quality and image. No, it is not the same quality as the Swarovski NL Pure 10x42 that I also had in my hands in the store, but then, the Vortex does not cost more than $3000 as the Swarovski. Light weight so it must be cheep? It is the same weight and about same form / size as the Swarovski, so the Swarovski must also be cheap. ???

    I just got Bantam 6,5x32 and for the price they are great. Triumph have very similar design, especially the eyecups. I think Triumph is to consider a big brother to Bantam.

    The level of optic you can buy for entry-level price these days just keeps going up. I would have picked up a pair of these for my wife to use, but we found her a used Diamondback HD 10x42 instead for around the same price!

      Only Vortex and Nikon seem to be making any progress there. Most Bushnell binoculars I’ve tried the past 6 years have been badddd. Now this and the Vortex Solo monocular on the other hand are absolutely amazing.

    I can’t find ANYTHING explaining the difference between the triumph and crossfire lines. I’m deciding between the vortex crossfire 10x42 and vortex triumph 10x42 (there’s about a 50 dollar price difference and I can’t for the life of me discern why). Anyone familiar?

    • @ocabj
      @ocabj  Місяць тому

      From what I've held, get at least the Viper HD. Make sure they are the post-2018 revision (cross reference the model number on the Vortex site with the retailer you're buying from).
      This assumes you want something above bare entry level.

    Great review appreciate the effort. Curious as to why but a cheap liw end binoculars when you already iwn the Viper HD amd Swarovski NL Pure?
    Could you please do a review on the still unknown ScoopX UHD 10x42 next which currently sells for $65 on eBay and $249 on Amazon and $299 at Gosky?
    You'll probably be pretty shocked after you compare it to your Vortex Viper HD.
    Appreciate the consideration and your honest reviews.

    So you’d say they are on par with other $400-$500 pairs that you have tried?

      I owned the Viper HD 10x42 and I would have to say the glass on those is going to be noticeably better than the Triumph HD. The Triumph HD does have obvious chromatic aberration and it is less so on the Viper HD. The build feels more robust with the Viper, too.
      As far as other competitors, I honestly don't have any signifcant hands-on time to make a true comparison against the Triumph. If you're willing to spend more than $400, then go with something other than the Triumph HD. If you are hovering at $300 or less, I feel like the Triumph will be just as good as anything else in that price range for less.

    Hello. Interesting video. I have a Swarovski EL 10x42 Swarovizion and also a Bushnell Nitro 10x36, which is in the center of the picture, which is sharper than the EL. Now I'm thinking about Vortex Razor HD 10x42 and that will definitely be even sharper than Bushnell Nitro and also from EL..

      I don't know anything about the $100 range of binos. I only tried these out because they were making bold claims about the Triumph at the $100 price point. It is actually pretty good for the price.
      To be fair, I primarily use higher tier binos (Swarovski).

      @@alj.granda8252Just need a measley $65.00 to be absolutely blown away. There's several different sellers on eBay selling them at varying prices and on Amazon for $249 and $299 from SVbony. Read my other comment it compares to Athlon Cronus UHD level of glass with wider FOV and lighter weight and also has field flatteners. It is also clearer than the Athlon Midas UHD and Vortex Viper HD and similar to the Leupold BX4 optically. It's going to be the best $65 you will ever spend on an absolutely fantastic quality UHD binoculars that nobody even knows about yet.

    Claro que si!! Tu lógica es la siguiente:
    Mi Ford es bueno para valer 20.000, pero si gastas 100.000 puedes tener un BMW mucho mejor!!
    Cuando tengas el BMW de 100.000 preguntate si no sería mejor un Lamborghini de 500k .... Cuidado que después del Lambo viene el Bugatti .... y así con todas las cosas de tu vida
    Con esa lógica nunca estarás contento con nada.... ya que SIEMPRE hay algo mejor ......

    Cheap Chinese made! There's a reason Vortex Vipers HDs are $500! I love mine and the best binos at that price. Save your money and buy the best binos you can! Vortex should never have released see binos.

    • @ocabj
      @ocabj  9 місяців тому

      The Viper HD 10x42 is a decent bino for what it is. The $500 range is kind of a dead area for binos due to the fact that it all has to be made overseas somewhere in Southeast Asia and QC will vary. While I don't have much time behind Maven, I'll argue that the Maven C series of binoculars are as good if not better than the Vortex Viper HD.
      That being said, I dumped my Viper HD awhile back as they were my "truck binos" that I kept in there in the event I forgot my primary binos (which is the NL Pure), and I replaced the truck/backup binos(+LRF) with the KILO6K. I kind of moved the Triumph HD to the truck as my backup/truck binos now as they work great as a loaner bino for people at matches who don't have an optic.
