The programmer added $50 to my repair but it made the repair as professional as any repair that I've ever done. I had NO idea that this could even be done. I feel empowered. Thank you! just a tip for everyone, make sure you keep the same earpiece from the original display to preserve face id, using an aftermarket earpiece may disable it. :)

I work in a rather large repair shop and ive never had to reprogram an x display ive worked on basically every iphone. Only way i can needed to do this is if you dont bring the camera over but most replacement screens require you to transfer the camers anyways
Would be cool but likely won’t happen as they’re paired to the device and it stores like a key in the SEP which is encrypted. Though it might be possible at some point especially with the checkm8 exploit, people were able to get the SEP key and if they can figure out how it works they might be able to at some point. Though that may be bad as then hackers could potentially access your passwords and bypass biometrics, which is why Apple doesn’t allow 3rd parties to repair the home button or FaceID as the SEP is a super important part of securing the device.
Jarrett Boersen buttt, they could make a machine for people that have the old faulty home button , then they basically plug the old button into the machine and upload the part code and then connect the new button and write the code into it so that the phone recognises the new button as the old one....
Dude, what you do is magic. I only tried to repair my old Sony phone on my own, seemed like an easy job, ended with even bigger damage. So big props for you, I only wish you did some more Android phone repairs.
My high school is starting a program where students can learn the importants of repair and how to repair Apple products. I am teaching in the program that will happen for 30 minutes every day. The videos are great for learning how to do repairs.
I literally just put my XS into a toaster oven to heat up the adhesive and then I used a razor blade and plastic pry tool to open it. I got the screen off just fine with no damage at all.

Cool, I bricked my wife’s phone following this guide exactly. I got the new screen plugged up and working then i turned it off and detached the cables Bc he didn’t tell us to put the water proof seal on first. Plug it back in and now none of the touch screen works. Unplug it again and plug it back in and now the damn thing won’t even turn on

btw, if you dont programm your new display it can work but you will have bug with screen protector. when its on phone and if you hold on your finger without moving it on screen it will not recognize your finger after 9 seconds. (very annoying when you trying to send someone a voice message it will send it after 9 seconds because screen thinks that finger is not on screen). but if you move your finger a little bit every 8 seconds it works fine :D

I bought the iphone X for $550 last month and she said that the rear and front cameras weren't working as well as face id. So I had to buy the replacement parts and oh my I regret it. Somehow. It's true the cameras weren't working at all and last night, I turn on the camera and it's working fine. I think I just have to update the software or it has something to do with the ios 12 being the worst

I've been watching your videos over a course of about 3 months, and it's just making me want to refurbish old phones to new phones. Only problem is, sourcing the parts from a trusted seller around the UK. Have you got and tips and tricks for a person who is wanting to rebuild new phones? I have previously replaced old screens to new screens for iPhone but nothing like this. But there is always a starting point right? Hopefully you will see this comment!
There are many aftermarket screens which are not truetone programmable and the writing of data will fail. So I always buy an original refurbished screen and program truetone in it.
This is very useful. But I have a couple questions. I dropped my company’s phone and the screen got cracked. But since the beginning the phone hadn’t True Tone. So I don’t need to reprogram the new screen right? Because the reprogram is only to get that function back, right? I’m worried about it because doing this myself will save me nearly $60 bucks compare to take it to a technical. Thanks for making this video.
A little astuce : on some screens on AliExpress, you can give the Screen Number to the seller, and he transfer it to the new display before send it so you can keep TrueTone without the material.
I've done this myself but skipping the part of the reprograming, also skipped the part with the watter sealing, after a water resistant phone it's oppened it would never be water resistant again like it was from factory so i see no point of putting the seal back
the screen will still be useable, but true tone will be purposely disabled and a permanent message may come up saying that it is not a genuine display. at one point i believe apple did try disabling the screen completely if it was not paired, but were sued or something and had to reverse that, though they are apparently still allowed to do this.

yea that happened to me, but the original ear piece was broken so i had to replace it.

I don't think this fixes FACE ID. From what I've read, only Apple can do that.
As long as you keep the original parts and reconnect them I’m sure it will still work. If you use a separate one then I think it may not work

There is one called an "iCopy" which is from another company. Also plenty of generic ones too. You can find them all over aliexpress.

The beta popup was literally a bug in the iOS 12 betas. If you would swipe from the top for notifications, it would show up.
