Great ideas! I usually make pillows. I am going to reorganize all of my orphan quilt blocks so I can get creative and make some of your ideas. Love your channel!!
So glad I found this video! I’m a newer quilter so I will usually use scraps to practice a block once or twice before I use the fabric I have cut/planned for my actual quilt! Now I will have plenty of ideas for those blocks!
I am just learning to quilt. The main reason I wanted to learn was to make small quilted items like placemats, mini wall quilts and such. I can’t wait to try some of these. I bought a few of your patterns recently. I have a couple of things to finish, but can’t wait to try them.
I have made so many of these things (60+years of quilting, sewing for our family) but I love watching all the youtube videos and since I have piles of material, scrapes, quilt tops, etc. I enjoyed watching and being reminded of all of them!
I have made a baby changing mat and picnic placemats which could easily feature quilted blocks. I have also made quilted pads for kitchen and garden chairs, and a light version to place on dirty garden furniture so you don't have to clean it every time to sit down.
Love your ideas and suggestions for quilt blocks! Many years ago, I received a small, quilted envelope type pouch with a curved, fold over flap. It closes simply with velcro and contained an assortment of small thank you and blank cards. It's a treasured gift that I still use.
Thank you Nikki! Love your channel! I cracked up when you talked about showing the wonky block to your family to find out who’s type A, etc. 😂 I love your sewing machine!… I have the same one! Thank you again! 🤗😘
Great ideas! I had the idea of making a kind of tote bag but no handles, just a casing at the top made from extra fabric strips with a cord through it to be a drawstring bag to carry sewing accessories or whatever - I keep a basket with hand sewing in it to cart around the house and this keeps things together so they don't get lost. It would also work as a gift bag. Orphan socks - where do they go? If they go into the plumbing, why isn't the pipe blocked? If they go between the washing machine drum and the outer part of the washer, why weren't they there when my husband took the washer apart to fix it for another reason? And why do I keep them, hoping the prodigal sock will return...
I love all these cute ideas! 👏🥰 My mind is now racing with all kinds of ideas to use up my orphan blocks, plus maybe make special new scrap blocks to use. 🎉🤩🎊 I often also can't resist orphan blocks that were made by others that I see at thrift shops, yard sales, even occasionally at antique shops. These ideas will all be perfect to use those up as well! 😉👍 So now I have a reason to make lots of individual blocks to play around with different placements, yet still make use of those blocks! 👌👏💖 You just created a monster! 😂🤣😂 But as you say, EVERY block doesn't necessarily need put into a large quilt. I've been watching your videos for around a year, and have made many of your small projects, but never quite grasped this concept. Thanks so much for this video full of creative suggestions!! 🤪😎🤘
Love your patterns! I’ve tried the drawstring bag one and it was a success! Bags are my weakness.. do you have a tutorial on adult size bags that are quilted? I saw on you store the kids quilted bag.. I want one for me 😂
Some lovely ideas. I once tried to make a very tiny log cabin block. It finished at 2" square. I made it into a pin cushion . It would also have made a doll pillow. 😊
All your ideas for the Orphan blocks are so cool! My favorites are the zipper card/cosmetic pouches, the doll quilts (which I will actually use for my cat😻) but every single one of your ideas are awesome 🙌🏻 💖I must stop being lazy and make these🫠
Excellent ideas! I often have leftover blocks when I decide a particular color isn't quite right in my quilt. I have made mini quilts for my dog to lay on and to make a nice quilt lining in the bottom of the pet carrier. TFS
I love your videos :) So inspiring. I make lots of things with quilt blocks too but never know what to do with everything. My family probably doesn't want any more zipper pouches, bags, etc. from me. LOL I have an Etsy shop but that hasn't been very successful. Thanks for putting together these great videos.
The problen with wonky is that it needs to be really wonky to work. If it´s just a little bit wonky it looks like an error. The intentionally wonkyness must be noticeable.
Mrs. Nikki watching your videos feels like coming home. I absolutely adore the vibe of your videos. I've made 2 Grandparents Dolls and now I need to make one more but I've already switched to making a baby doll. LOL. My husband calls it a gingerbread man LOL. I think it's adorable. I've also practiced sewing multiple little squares together (like a tiny quilt block!) and sewed them together; that was great practice for me. Now I just have to use one of your ideas from this video!. OH! and I've made a large hotpad for a lady who gifted me a bunch of fabric that I've been practicing with. I get so excited to see your new videos, they are my favorite. ALSO YOURE ALMOST AT 100K!!!! WOOO LETS GOOOOO! Until next time, Mrs. Nikki! Have a great night!
I gave all my orphan blocks to a woman who makes purses for a charity that fills the small purses with menstrual stuff for girls and sends them to Africa.
Love all your ideas and patterns. Is the only way to get your patterns is by ordering the downloaded patterns? Is there printed versions anywhere for purchase?
Did you have a label on your book cover? Do you put labels on your gifts and if so where do you get your labels? Thank you I have framed orphan blocks and given as gifts 😊
This inspires me to make single quilt blocks to use up my scraps and learn new things. I love these projects!
Great ideas not just for the orphans, but also for practicing quilting and your nifty projects.

Tiny Christmas blocks make the cutest Christmas tree ornaments. Sets of 3 ornaments are a great easy gift idea.
Great ideas! I usually make pillows. I am going to reorganize all of my orphan quilt blocks so I can get creative and make some of your ideas.
Love your channel!!
I love how your clock shows there is always plenty of time to sew!!
Haha! The battery died 😅
Love watching your videos. I have bought several of your patterns and they are so easy to understand and sew. Thank you
Thank YOU! 😁
Congrats reaching your milestone for subscribers. You deserve it. Your videos are great.

I would too!

Again, Nikki, a plethora of good ideas.🎉❤😊
Great ideas and very helpful! I have made many of the small doll sleeping bags. So cute and addicting! 😂 Love your videos! ❤️
Great tutorial! Thanks again, Nikki!

Thank you ,many of the ones and done blocks can find a home or use now!
My very first quilt project(s) were pillows that coordinated with a sampler quilt that my mother made for me.
I have a stack of orphan blocks. You always have the best ideas . Thanks
I love how those wall quilts look! Do you have a tutorial about how you prepped them for hanging like that?
No, but I should make that video!
Thank you!
Another idea is to incorporate extra blocks into your quilt label. Thanks for all your ideas.
Yeah, love that idea!
Thanks!
Great inspiration!😊

While you were talking, I thought of making sachets for my dresser drawer
Great idea 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Always , a wise thinker ,clever girl
I recycle or put them on clothing to funky them up.
Great ideas. I have several quilt blocks so now I have several ideas. TFS
Happy 100K !! Love your style...I've recommended your videos often!!
Thank you! 🤗

That can be true, though if one block isn’t quite as wonky, it can hide among many wonkier blocks and blend right in 😁
I love your spirit! Great ideas and so fun!! Star @ Stella Quilts
How about mini quilted Lavendar sachets?

Aw, thank you for this comment! The doll patterns are all my favorite, but especially the grandparents 🫶🏻. I’m glad you’re enjoying them.
Yes, except for the Improv Houses book, all my patterns are digital.
Did you have a label on your book cover? Do you put labels on your gifts and if so where do you get your labels? Thank you
I have framed orphan blocks and given as gifts 😊
I did put one on that one! I got some cute leather ones on Amazon and also at Hobby Lobby and Etsy.
With the pot holders…do you line with a heat resistant fabric…?
Yes, I usually use a layer of Insul-brite with a layer of batting 👍🏻
I’ve been turning some of my mom’s quilt blocks into pocket prayer quilts, I just cut them down to size.
@@PinCutSew thanks…
My favorites are the journal and Bible covers! Made all the girls in the family book sleeves for Christmas. And they use them!
Baby carousel?
Thanks!
Thank you! 🤗
