I was in Japan end of August into early September. The amount of people in the country supporting the Dodgers was incredible. The Dodgers didn't just sign Shohei Ohtani (and Yoshinobu Yamamoto), they signed an entire country. Baseball is king in Japan, and they love their superstars. So awesome to see Japan get behind the Dodgers.
Yes I went to Tokyo last March and I accidentally dropped a coin on the floor and the Japanese guy next to me picked up the coin and gave it back to me. If that happened in big city New York money would have been stolen already. I was having an issue with a subway ticket to go to church in Tokyo and a Japanese uncle saw me struggled and he told the subway security to help me out. He probably doesn’t even speak English at all but at least he wanted to help.
@@Darin-j3whe definitely didn’t play as well as we all hope for many reason. He did help them get there, but also help them in pivotal game one of the series. So technically he contributed them in winning. Who knows where this series would be if they didn’t get to extra innings and gave Freddie an opportunity for the grand slam.
Ohtani’s homeruns stuggled but was 17 outta 22 with men on base in the last series. Ohtani gave up his body in the WS just to contribute. EVERY player did this whole postseason.

the Dodgers knew exactly what they were doing signing ohtani. whatever amount of money he was asking, they and mlb knew they'd make that and more with the quickness
Yes Ohtani didn't do much in the World Series since he was injured in Game 2 but without him during the regular season as well as the NLDS and NLCS the Dogders would not make it to the World Series. He is a GOAT this season especially being the first player to create the 50-50 club.
He didn't have the homeruns nor the "big" game, but he arguably was the reason LA won game 1. Down 2-1 bottom 8th, and Ohtani doubles and his keen baserunning gets him to 3rd, where he scores to tie the game, which gives LA the chance to win in xtra innings, which they did. Taking Game 1 is HUGE in the WS, and that was largekly attributed to Ohtani! Just having him in the lineup changes the entire pitching strategy of the oppsing team too.
Ohtani is amazing, but can we please give the others the credit they are due? Betts, Freeman, Muncy, etc., are all great players. The Dodgers have consistently made it to the playoffs and World Series for many years.
So with US ratings being high this World Series, how do they factor in Japan? If they factor in Japan and the world, this World Series gotta be the most watched.
