The ussr in the 50's was much different than what you explained. First, KGB wasn't a thing yet, it was the MVD, aka the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Second, the times of the Great Purge were long gone. The only thing i could name was the doctors' plot and the actions planned against the jews without the approval of Stalin. The econmy was not too good, yes, but it is kinda understandable since 13 percent, about 28 million people were wiped from the face of the earth by the nazis, its allieds and collaborators. Still, they were the second largest economy on Earth and were pretty powerful, thought living conditions could have been better. And the whole class system poor being poor, rich doing nothing but exploit the poor is not true. Living conditions were better than before the war, medicine, education and housing was quality and free. The state tried to provide everything not exploiting the poor but helping them. This goes for the Stalin era. The 50's also contained the early Khrushchev era but since it is not the topic of the game i am not gonna explain it too since this comment is already getting too long. What should be known about it is that is was much more different than the Stalin era, being much less strict although its economic and foreign policies were pretty crap compared to what Stalin did. Meanwhile in the USA was the terror against communists, socialists and socdems, racism was skyhigh and women's rights were not great either at that point, albeit it emproved over time. So yes, it was not as one sided as you portrayed it. I hope i could help. Greetings from Hungary!
i loved this game for what it was yeah 2 levels were confusing but other than that i very much liked it
