You're shots of the mall without narration and only that creepy background music give me major anxiety. You create atmosphere more effectively than any horror movie I've seen lately

What I’ve always loved about this video is how it’s almost completely untouched. No major vandalism anywhere. Not to mention your brilliant idea to start the music through the “speaker”

      why do you hate vandalism?

@@truong8199 because it’s destruction and it’s wrong. It’s the same equivalent to arson.

Most vandalism is senseless destruction and adds nothing to the mystique of an abandoned building that’s in the process of being lost to time. We watch these videos to survey the solemn, decaying atmosphere of a place past its prime, not some teenage kid’s 2 second edgy tag art.
It’s like if you went to a holy place to pray or meditate in silence, and there’s a bunch of rowdy kids breaking your concentration.

My company used watch clock stations, basically the watchman wore a round leather coated clock like a woman would wear a purse. The clock had an opening for a specific key, when inserted then slightly turned to the right it leaves a mark on a recorder reel. Basically it was a time clock for watchmen.

Amazing! This must be one of the oldest surviving dept stores still standing with some original pieces left unharmed. I could feel this video. You do great work and Im so happy to know there is someone as fascinated with old buildings as I am. This building is a treasure and to have it on film after is it no longer here will be appreciated by those like myself.

Sir the Little Wok Box you found is called a watchman's lock and key said you went around the bases of the establishment and at each point you would check with the key locking the clock in position to let the person's know that you're actually keeping watch over the stations and or the area you are guarding so that's called a guard check station usually and had a key inserted and like I said you were with the lock and time mechanism to alert everybody that you were actually doing your job stay safe stay strong one step at a time thank you so much for uploading this invaluable tripping to our distant past

Terrific video and I love the soundtrack. Creepy and anxiety-inducing. I would love to see some pics of what Kaufman's looked like when it was operational and fully merchandised (if they even exist). Thanks!

those square cieling tiles used asbestos in them. its likely why there is carpet through much of the building, since its original VCT floors would have had asbestos too. a lot of companies choose t ocover it over, instead of paying a hasmat team to remove it. atleast they did when i was a contractor still

How long do you think it will be before you do a video on the White Marsh Mall? Its getting pretty empty and rough in there. The Harford Mall is pretty empty too, but is so small its not worth a drive up to Bel Air.

This was one of these that had me anxious for Dan's actual safety. I know "Balmer" is his hometown and all,
but if you know the city at all, you know it's mainly a couple nice touristy areas surrounded by 3rd world hellhole.
Very dangerous and I think Dan was in more danger than he realized more than once back then...
