You're shots of the mall without narration and only that creepy background music give me major anxiety. You create atmosphere more effectively than any horror movie I've seen lately
What I’ve always loved about this video is how it’s almost completely untouched. No major vandalism anywhere. Not to mention your brilliant idea to start the music through the “speaker”
Truong فونغ Most vandalism is senseless destruction and adds nothing to the mystique of an abandoned building that’s in the process of being lost to time. We watch these videos to survey the solemn, decaying atmosphere of a place past its prime, not some teenage kid’s 2 second edgy tag art. It’s like if you went to a holy place to pray or meditate in silence, and there’s a bunch of rowdy kids breaking your concentration.
My company used watch clock stations, basically the watchman wore a round leather coated clock like a woman would wear a purse. The clock had an opening for a specific key, when inserted then slightly turned to the right it leaves a mark on a recorder reel. Basically it was a time clock for watchmen.
Amazing! This must be one of the oldest surviving dept stores still standing with some original pieces left unharmed. I could feel this video. You do great work and Im so happy to know there is someone as fascinated with old buildings as I am. This building is a treasure and to have it on film after is it no longer here will be appreciated by those like myself.
Haha I noticed he only flipped the switch to "Run" after he tried the buttons. In my mind, it would have ran if he had tried the buttons again after that. 😅
Sir the Little Wok Box you found is called a watchman's lock and key said you went around the bases of the establishment and at each point you would check with the key locking the clock in position to let the person's know that you're actually keeping watch over the stations and or the area you are guarding so that's called a guard check station usually and had a key inserted and like I said you were with the lock and time mechanism to alert everybody that you were actually doing your job stay safe stay strong one step at a time thank you so much for uploading this invaluable tripping to our distant past
Terrific video and I love the soundtrack. Creepy and anxiety-inducing. I would love to see some pics of what Kaufman's looked like when it was operational and fully merchandised (if they even exist). Thanks!
If you would put all your remaster dead malls on a DVD I'll will buy them, you can sign the DVD set as well so I know there really Dan Bell stuff. Thank you for sharing.👍👍
those square cieling tiles used asbestos in them. its likely why there is carpet through much of the building, since its original VCT floors would have had asbestos too. a lot of companies choose t ocover it over, instead of paying a hasmat team to remove it. atleast they did when i was a contractor still
How long do you think it will be before you do a video on the White Marsh Mall? Its getting pretty empty and rough in there. The Harford Mall is pretty empty too, but is so small its not worth a drive up to Bel Air.
Interesting place , these places were the gems of retail before the big malls in the burbs were built .....too bad there wasn't picture from back then to compare it to its current state now ...
I don't think that was creepy at all. Beautiful old department store... I looove the speakers at the beginning and end. Love the petal design of them. Things were made differently back then.
This was one of these that had me anxious for Dan's actual safety. I know "Balmer" is his hometown and all, but if you know the city at all, you know it's mainly a couple nice touristy areas surrounded by 3rd world hellhole. Very dangerous and I think Dan was in more danger than he realized more than once back then...
I could rewatch Dan's remastered Dead Mall Series videos all day.
Same here ❤️
Same here. Eagerly awaiting more! Getting a little drunk and watching a dead mall by Dan... nothing compares.

"shots" and "baltimore" those words go together.
@@hifijohn Yes, unlike "You're shots" lol.
I'd prefere narration

why do you hate vandalism?
@@truong8199 because it’s destruction and it’s wrong. It’s the same equivalent to arson.

I remember going here with my Nan. Hard to believe it was so long ago. Thanks for the vid and reminder of days gone by

Very cool history! Thank you!

Thank you Dan for pushing the elevator buttons....for all of us!!!!

This looks amazing! such a great idea to have all of these remastered. You have such a talent for capturing the atmosphere of these places.

Watch clock station was used by security guards checking in on their rounds.
Grateful to you for this 💜
The watch clock thing was for the night watchmen going on their rounds.
I used to love Montgomery wards dept store riding up and down the escalator back in the 80s
Imagine liminal horror games with graphics with this level of detail one day.
That basement was massively spooky. I kept thinking one of the doors off of it was going to lead to a mine shaft or something.
Why is there always a wheel chair in these creepy ass places
Danke!
This place is fantastic. Beautifully shot! What kind of camera is that?
👏 another great remaster 😎🇺🇲
I love the mall music it's great 🎶

Lovely bit of Carpenters. Not sure what that watch clock box thingy was...did you ever find out?

Ramsatered? I thought Lamb was used in the Passover dinner, shows what I know!
Eyes for detail unlimited with sounds remembered
I remember seeing the original video and thinking, "Did you have a gun while you were there?" Yikes!
How much lead paint exposure did you get?
that opening scene reminds me of a david lynch film
Pittsburgh based Kaufman's? Never realized they made it into Maryland.
U think this mall is sad come check out the mall in Charleston WV, it’s two floors of pure depression. Stores all closed up but just a handful
Its like being lost in the Backrooms. Im half expecting an entity to showup and take all my Almond Water
There’s always a random wheelchair.
That was my EXACT thought, word for word LOL!!
I don't think that was creepy at all. Beautiful old department store... I looove the speakers at the beginning and end. Love the petal design of them. Things were made differently back then.
It's like a scene from after the apocalypse...
The carpenters superstar elevator music was perfect
TP tip: Always remember to look before you sit. 😁
Good!!👍
One day you come to Canada and to some firms?
Just a random wheelchair 😳 what the heck
5:00 is the album cover
