Miyazaki heard you like ganking invaders to progress the game, so he made a boss fight were you get ganked by an invader and his npc friends necessary to progress. Lol

Well, ringed city has been and still is invasion city
Fast forward 2 years and the Spear is the one getting ganked again. The host almost never comes in without at least 2 other players. If you're lucky one of them will be patches.
@@PoetsAges That's actually good though. 3 players adds up insane absorbtion and poise to the Spear. If you have a proper regen or max damage build, it is better to have a lot of people in the boss fight. But, if there is only a host and a phantom, then it is normal absorption and poise. Bigger the gank the better chances of winning.
I never gank as a spear tbh. I let the host kill the npc and then try to finish them off before another one gets summoned.

Oh..... so this is how it looks like when you get summonned as a Spear of the Church and there's only one person, with a Patches NPC at most.
Never experienced that. Always a goddamn 3-4 man party.
It's actually way less fun with only one person, because you don't get any extra health or hyper armour, so you're just a regular invader who can't heal.
marshrover V Im a bit late to this, because i only got the game recently. On my first fight with this boss I 3 shot him. I can definitely see how extra hp would be useful.

One LP I watched, they were in the swamp section of the Ringed City when they encountered the Dragonslayer Armor and then got invaded . Way of Blue covenant called in a phantom to defend them, plus one Seed of a Tree of Giants = epic four-way brawl ensued.
NeoTerumi this isn't the full experience. This boss can't immediately run away to resummon their help when they die, get constant blues to make it worse, or disconnect when you're about to win.

thats the problem with this boss fight it can be so random. I had trouble against a straight sword but against ultra great sword i finished the fight in three hits. I was using a lighting great club.

Most people I fight use the Ultra greatswords So I get a easy win

Also I had the Onkiri and Obadachi with some offensive miracles and it went alright for me.
This fight's difficulty is completely luck of the draw. I for one, was summoned to this fight from the grave area before Midir's encounter on the second bridge. I was hoping to just be summoned like a normal phantom, 10 seconds later, I'm the boss in someone else's game. I was so confused, I got rekt, and the guy had the audacity to point down at me with his 3 summons.

You know you can just use the Red Sign Soapstone to avoid ganks right? Besides you chose to invade at your own will.
Also when i just want to play pve, being invaded is super annoying most of the time. So you get what you deserve.

Okay so two hosts/phantoms who clearly have PTSD / salt from invaders replied to my 8 month old post xD
I'm not complaining about gank squads, hell, myself and many other invaders enjoy the challenge of bringing down a gank more than just a single host. It's satisfying :D

Honestly, youtubers and their character builds never cease to disappoint me. Like bro sometimes a simple enchanted broadsword can wreck a boss worse than some special weapon you only obtain by specific circumstances.

When I was invading, one time I had "INVADING ANOTHER WORLD AS SPEAR OF THE CHURCH" I was like wait what I havent even unlocked it yet, so I was probably the only Boss with camouflage spell in this game

I kinda Wish they would summon a 2nd spear in phase 2 if the host had summoned 2 or more phantoms and a regular painting guardian if he is alone or 1 summon only.
meteorseven3 I agree. After my first play through of this game I've summoned at least one or two, sometimes three, phantoms for each boss just for giggles and sunbro medals. So I kind of feel sorry for someone who waits and finally gets summoned to be the boss only to get ganked. A second spear invading while the first is doing battle would make it so much more fun for groups of three and four players ganking. For both sides.
The problem is if the game can't find a second Spear they'll summon Halflight, which is totally unfair against a Player Spear at the same time.
It's hard enough as it is with just one player.

Halflight can either be the easiest or hardest fight in the game depending on the type of player you are. But damn is it a fun boss to both fight and be.

I can understand if its Halflight who actually has boss stats, but I agree. If you use 15 estus on another player and lose... you might be bad.
It depends , if you have a lot of friends , the Spear also have way more resistance , like the spear might barely loose 70hp on 1 attack
If you have alot of friends you can gank and stun the spear easy, not to mention outlast them with up to 36 flasks. If Spears received a damage boost, this wouldn't be an issue.

Hah, hearing that reference to the Old Monk (a boss in Demon's Souls for those who don't know) made me smile. I still remember how the very first time I even entered that Archstone area in Soul form I immediately got summoned to be someone else's Old Monk boss fight (which fortunately for me wound up being a fair 1on 1duel that I ultimately won [I played as a Sword & Shield character but since I picked the Royal as my starting class I also had access to the Soul Arrow spell if my opponent tried to put distance between us for any reason]....And I didn't even really do Invasions [I still don't, even in games like Bloodborne, I much prefer to just enjoy the games Co-Op and help people rather than actively try to hinder them. I might try to invade on occasion for a change of pace, but it's still pretty rare]).

I will always remember my buddy and I doing summons here. He would go phantom and try to help while I would go boss and try to defend. My fav moment was winning against a 4 man gank squad while my friend was on it. Thank you Farron MemeSword and Auto Crossbow for having do much versatility.

They did nerf him, he used to have way more armor and poise. You still get more when fighting more phantoms, but its scaled down a lot and non existent in a 1v1.

I’m personally a pve player and I just reached this boss fight last night. It was pretty funny and interesting to figure out I was fighting another player who’s only goal was to make sure I didn’t make it to the next bonfire

In one LP I watched, the player walked into the church and got a PVP boss (somebody wielding the Twin Ringed Knight Greatswords). They got owned. On the 2nd attempt, they got Halflight instead and won. It was awesome to watch, at least.
