God bless you all. I do not envy you at all in these circumstances. I remember growing up on the farm in the late 60s, 70s and 80s. I remember as a small boy watching my dad clean the yard with an "A" John Deere with a trip bucket and no cab. My dad never complained; he loved farming. He was in a tractor working a week before he passed at 89 years old. Watching you brings back a flood of memories; thank you for that.
Thanks, Yan for snowing us how you made out with the heavy snow. You took time on your very busy and tiring day to make this fine video, still at the end of your long day you were the Good Samaritan for others. How good is that....thanks for being the solid young man that you are, caring for others as well.
Absolutely stunning how much snow you got. As a kid in Ontario, I remember those days. I loved it. I live in BC now, and on Southern Vanvouver Island, we very rarely get snow. We get rain.
There will be some moisture in the fields after this winter. Here in Slovenia we are still waiting for some bigger snow deposits. It's just that time of the year when you expect some snow to be delivered from upon us.Yan your videos are always fun to watch and also you can take a lesson from each of one.Stay healthy and all the best from the sunny side of the alps!!!.
Arent u guys didnt get any of snow here in croatia we got our first a 3 or 4 days. We didnt but Čakovec did get a dump of and i was today in cakovec and there are still piels of it
Sing it with me Farmies ... "It's beginning to look a lot like CHRISTMAS !!!" Oh Boy Jan, I don't envy you one bit, as long as I can live vicariously through your eyes. Das a lot of snow man !!! The family that shovels together, stays together, No ?? Montreal (3c) has flurries for the weekend, but we do see the word SNOW for Wednesday and Thursday. Maybe it will be our first substantial snow this season. It says Asquith is (-22c) at 3:24 pm Friday. You keep warm out there Jan.
I did the same thing several times pulling people out one person's knew where I lived they had seen my truck before and put money in my mailbox😮 love helping people❤
Who belongs to all those bales in the field to the right? Your family is so inspiring to those of us who aren’t farmers…..bless you all! Love from Colorado🥰
Great video, working hard with family to make things a little better each and everyday. I love my Stars and Stripes but I did feel very proud of your Canadian flag standing proudly above your farm!
My husband installs DeLaval milking equipment and for 35 years. He has certainly seen many many changes over the years and technology only gets better. For like the last 10 years he has been very busy building and installing rotary parlors in central Minnesota and Eastern South Dakota, and Northwest Iowa USA. Rotaries are in different sizes but he has installed, 64, 106, and 128. So much goes into the planning of a rotary and from start to finish is about 3 years. That 3 years includes everything, right down to getting permits. Most folks really have no clue what is involved. I'm fortunate to be able to see it from start to finish in different phases and it's absolutely amazing. My husband Brad Fischer has always said, DeLaval is the best. Thank you to all farmers that help feed the world.
You need one of those big snow pushers that attach to the loader bucket like they use for big parking lots. Do you ever put tire chains on the feed tractor?
Love your videos. You can get a string trimmer and buy 2 different attachments. One a wire brush and another with a small snow plow that will take care of your doorways and your feed bunks In your big corrals save you a lot of backwork not having to use a chevel
Interesting about the doors. In the USA doors on commercial and public buildings generally open out. This is because of a combination fire and crowd disaster that took place at a night club called the Coconut Grove in Boston in 1942. Because of pressure from the crowd trying to escape, those near the door were unable to open it, as it only opened inward.
Hello Ian, first of all I'm always amazed how spectacular your drone footage is. It adds perspective we would not normally get from just ground footage. What a well rounded steady young man you are! You and your entire family are such hard workers. I grew up on a smaller dairy farm and remember the hard work, especially dealing with the harsh winter weather struggling with frozen equipment and water lines occasionally, ugh. I often think I'd like to know more about you, but totally respect your privacy. I've watched your videos for a few years now and always look forward to the next one. You are the kind of person I would like to have as a friend. The way you ended this video set that in concrete. Great channel and great work!!!
Coming from nz it blows our mind the conditions you sometimes have to farm in. So tough. It also surprises you don't have a 4x4 tractor on your mixer or a snow blower for feed troughs. Keep up the hard work!
35 years ago I had a dairy farm. A double four herringbone and milked 65 cows. I had some great times on the farm, and often dream about going back to that simpler life. But then I remember the snow, and suddenly the dreams become nightmares. City life ain't so bad.
Going to have to change the name of your channel to SaskDutch Man! You have really changed and you should be proud of yourself for what you have achieved.❤️🙏🏼☕️
Personally I love a good snowstorm! I suppose if I had as much area to clear as you, I might not enjoy it so much. Shoveling feed bunks looks like zero fun also! We’re expecting 3-5 feet of lake effect snow over the weekend, here on the eastern end of Lake Ontario. I’m excited!! Going out to snow blow after watching your vid. No heated cab for me, but do have heated handles on my walk behind blower. Prob hour and a half of work, but no complaints from me. Let it snow baby!!❄️☃️❄️
Hei, Jan, over here in Norway the snowmovers put small spikes in the tyres....you dont need much to get better traction, so the floors in the barns dont suffer much...screw the spikes in, than remove them in the spring....Great uploads, nice channel, thanks!
Glad you brought the beginning music back,my dad and I used to watch your videos together he lived in ontario. He past away a couple yrs ago,and that music brings back fond memories of him,he was92. Thanks for reviving it.
Man, love watching your videos! There are good people in this world and I count you as one! Love your house and love the farm, I’m from Kentucky and just really wanted you to know I love your work ethic. Not many like you that don’t have to be told what to do. Thanks again from a 67 year old from Kentucky!
nice long days work, sleep well earned. Glad it looks like all went as well as can be expected with no breakdowns. Hope you and your family have a great day , stay warm.
The small investment in a snow box for your loader would save you so much time and money. Easily pays for itself in fuel alone. Chasing windrows around is not efficient!
I couldn't agree more. 12 foot wide box plow would allow for clearing under those feed bin augers without having to worry about colliding the augers with the cab.
You guys have the same problem that we have here this year, the straw is that good that you have to give them more because they eat so much of it. The problem we have is that it is so bleedin expensive, it would be cheaper if they just ate more feed and lay on the straw! Regards from Ireland.
I’ve seen some of those bunk cleaners. They are brushes like your cow scratchers or flaps of rubber. Pretty expensive but I bet your mechanic, Brent, could fashion something that would work. If he can keep those choppers running then he can perform other miracles too! Love the family time, it doesn’t last forever.
From 🏴 UK your resilience is admirable in such conditions, do you sometimes wish you were back in Holland 🤔! thanks for the quality of the vlogs you keep giving us
@@saskdutchkid Hi there Jan, great video once again keep the videos coming. And in one of the near future (this winter) showing emptying your boots full of snow if they are full.
It’s unfortunate that you can’t move all your infrastructure to the farmland on the Saanich Peninsula near Victoria on Vancouver Island. We seldom get snow here. Some years we don’t get any snow! I’m really glad I live here and not in Saskatchewan!!! 😊 🇨🇦
Please mister Kilstra read this message You can buy string trimmers with Wire Brush attachment or a small snowblower.Attachment to help you with those feedbunks And around your doors
Good job, that’s really getting it done and helping those in need. A few bucks for coffee on top of it!😉 How far is it from the farm to your home? Stay warm!
@@Well_I_am_just_saying of course you can call it what you want. where are you? In western NY we haven't seen snow yet, buffalo often gets hit early. Australia bases it in the calendar instead of solar position, tommorow is first day of summer for them .

Most people think of a snow day as not having to go to work or school. Perhaps a day of tobogganing and hot chocolate. Obviously a snow day for you has a whole other meaning. Speaks to the level of dedication to your trade.
Hello Sir, I have a suggestion . Sand and snow freezing in truck box and loader. We always climatized equipment equipment to out side temp before use. When you emptied frozen sand out of truck . Let box become outside temp before use, will cut down sticking and freezeing
no it will NOT, any moisture in the sand sticks to anything below zero and keeps piling up, i told him about using calcium chloride with water, nothing sticks to that concoction.
Saw some dots in a field in your drone shots. Still have round bales out there ? Stay safe ! I’d say stay warm and dry but that won’t happen till at least April at this point. All the best !
I absolutely love the drone footage over your buildings. Just my imagination but I could see duplicating what you have without the cow implements as one massive home(silly I know). As for the one cow you startled while she was playing with the hay bale. She looked at you like, "What? I'm just trying to help. What's your problem?" lol
I always wondered why doors open and where or outward. Apparently also one of the reasons they open in word is that the hinges will be protected from dismantling inside by the wall. I watched a show about firefighters breaking into different types of security doors. Very interesting stuff security is probably less of an issue way out in the middle of nowhere like that. One thing that appears to make security doors far more resilient are door bars that sit in hinges that are mounted to the walls and cross the door to hold it shut from the inside Those firefighter door breach videos r interesting thing on UA-cam if you are ever bored. Have you considered putting chains on the 7130's rear tires? Be a bit noise on the concrete, but give you traction on ice.
I think chains would wear out the floor inside. I wonder if they make a concrete friendly set or adding more weight kits on the wheels maybe.
