I'm not in the biz, I drive truck 🤨 You've helped me troubleshoot our system and my MIL's system recently. I just need to understand how things work and I can test and replace stuff. Still not sure why I watch, but I DO! I appreciate that you will spend the time to ATTEMPT to repair versus give them a quote to replace a unit or the entire system! Thank you for being an honest business owner 👍
I was on an AC call today. I was recommended. The other company said they needed to replace all their equipment. The control board was bad and the unit were horribly dirty and supposedly they were being maintained every year. It took me four hours and I clean the shit out of them change the control board and a fan motor and everything is running great
New to the field but you’re exactly the kind of tech I want to be like. Most are looking for the commission pay. I just want to help people the right way.
Been in the trade about 5 years now and still learn something new from your videos that I've been able to use in the field. You're a great tech we all appreciate your videos brother!
I have been doing this for 5th summer and it doesn’t matter if you’ve been doing this for 10 years or 30 years, every call is different because everyone has a different kind of home. You always learn something new.
I will Never Understand Why anyone would Not Subscribe to your Channel. It’s Free and NO strings attached. What it does do is Help you Grow your Channel. 👍🙏
Big Brother Google/UA-cam has made it so you can't create an account without attaching it to a mobile device. If it still works, there is a backdoor hack to do it off a tablet, but if you don't know about it, they require you to attach it and verify via your phone number. That stops a lot of people from bothering to make an account, and you can't like and subscribe without one. In the end, it's the content creators who end up getting hurt.
It's also worth mentioning as a creator myself. Only 5 to 10% of viewers actually take the second or two to give the video a thumbs up. That also tells the YT algorithm that you were either neutral or didn't care for the content. If people like the content they need to show support, otherwise YT scales back on showing the video to potential new viewers. If a video does well within the current subscribers, the video will then get pushed out to more new people and if it does well there, YT pushes to an even larger audience. Likewise, comments also demonstrate interaction between the channel and viewers and between viewers themselves and that also gives YT a reason to push the content. If you enjoy Curtis's content, help him grow.
Very clear explaining the color wires this time. I have watched 80 hours + of your videos. 200 hours more, I'd be a helpful apprentice. Any young person who would like to enter the HVAC field would be wise to watch all of your videos instead of watching nonsense on tictok. . I did 35 years in the electrical high voltage ( 4k - 345k ) field, these kind of informational videos are invaluable to our next generation of great blue-collar workers. As aways, thank you Curtis for taking us along with your profession.
I am a service technician for a huge hvac company and I love seeing these videos it definitely motivates me to keep going and do my best at each Service call I go to! I wish you many blessings keep pushing. 💯
Who needs a hammer when Curtis is working, he's got skills 😊. Just give it a good smack and that's it. Done and done. Love the videos. Curtis, you remind me of my mentor when I started an actual tech position. He got things done no matter what. Bee's -dogs- smoke alarms - ants- helicopters- lack of parts, he always made it work.
Great video Curtis you may want to offer the custumer if it starts leaking or losing refrigerant the mo 99 conversion option as I see it's cheap just to get em by after repairing a leak but maybe offer them the blueon r 458a option but with blueon can involve more extensive work. Like replacing pistons with an adjustable txv or replacement of pressure switches and I say that bevause of what's going on with 410a because of the phaze out that's coming next year and what I am seeing is the same nightmare is going to happen when 410a prices spike and getting And finding a good replacement to keep the 410a systems going.
I got an entirely new system installed in 7-2002 and it was Rheem that looked a lot like this one it was the first unit they made that was R410a and I got the condenser and a furnace that had a variable speed heat fan and high speed for air and we got a new coil and they put in a new return and all new wiring and supply lines the furnace I had used an internal filter they put a filter holding return grate above the thermostat in the hall and it held the filter I liked that better. The furnace was in a closet in the garage and the condenser was out on a slab just outside the side door from the furnace about 8 feet away. I wanted American Standard but it was going to be a lot more money so I asked them who had the same features and they said Rheem was #2 so that's where I went. It took two days to install it. Then after that the way they did if you were out of service they stopped whatever they were doing and were at your house inside of an hour. I had to have them a couple of times and they did it. One time he showed up on his motorcycle with a new flame detecting sensor for the furnace in his top pocket and he put it in and got me going and said No Charge and got on his motorcycle and left. My system was straight heat cool no heat pump. They told me it's too cold here for them you wind up using your backup furnace all the time.
Those old Rheem/Ruud units are indestructible it seems. So simple. That Crescent Wrench/Hammer is bad to the bone. I know Crescent is a brand. What brand is that adjustable open end wrench? Stay hydrated Curtis. Really enjoy your videos
HVAC GUY, hello how you doing? I enjoy watching your videos I put all of your playlists onto my library so I have them it's easier to find. The reason I'm commenting today is I was watching one of your older videos with the label this one had me stumped one year ago has 48,000 views. I would like to suggest that when you do a crawl under the house go and buy yourself a respirator that they use in the welding industry. It is designed to be worn underneath your weld mask. So as you know there's not much room under a welding mask but they've designed a respirator to protect your lungs from anything you know asbestos insulation any kind of irritant including inhalants and other things that would you know bother you. So if you were to wear one of those you could still do your crawls and you're not wearing some ungainly thing that would not be effective down there. I was watching in your video all those small particles blowing around and of course you were breathing hard because you're trying to get through that maze of crap under a house so I thought about your lungs. Either way just wanted to say I really appreciate your content. I used to do HVAC in the '90s so it's fun to watch you go on service calls and then get my brain thinking trying to decipher what the problem is as you try and determine it. Super fun. You take care of yourself and I hope that everyone subscribes and likes your channel you do the work you deserve the compensation. Someone who just watches a video and does not like and subscribe is equivalent to a thief. Take care of yourself
What the heck folks over 1100 views and only 300+ likes. It isn't painful to hit that like button. And costs zip to Subscribe! Let's do it!! Thanks Curtis and keep them coming. So far you've saved me close to 700.00 by me changing out 4 capacitors. Much appreciated!!😊
After reading some of the comments I now realize your name is Curtis I will remember that. I will find my respirator information and put it here as soon as I do. Something else I was thinking about my brain works this way... Have you ever seen the 270° awnings? People who go four-wheel driving, camping, whatever... They purchase a 270° awning that fits on top of the rack such as on top of your truck. Then when you get to a destination it's just a matter of unzipping the bag that's on top of your truck you reach in and pull out the awning and walk around your vehicle and now you have an awning from driver's door all the way around to passenger door it sticks out about 6 ft and think about it if it's super hot, or raining you can get in and out of your vehicle and do work and be dry. If you're curious go to UA-cam and watch the video on MAV. This is the creator's channel He's a young man who goes fishing. He put one on his truck and it's really cool. Take it easy peace from Oregon
Homeowner needs to realize if Equipment looks like it really belongs in an Old HVAC Museum, it’s Finally Time to Update the Equipment and Stop throwing Money away.
I disagree because of the 410a, phaze out that's coming next year and the issues now with replacement refrigerants. For example Curtis likes mo 99 and I see why you can get a 25 lb jug for around 100 dollars. And mo 99 works with both oils. But Curtis could for example charge it with mo 99 for now just to keep em going but then offer as an option blueon r 458 a which again is compatable with both oils and runs at better pressures and make the system run better than a lot of 410 a systems but at times may involve more extensive work like installing adjustabje txvs in place of a piston and sometimes changing pressure switches after repairing all leaks but if the system holds up and stays out of landfill and keeps it running for another 5 10 years then that's what counts at the end of the day and new does not always mean great as 410a systems are going to have the same refrigerant price issues begining next year with the phazeout and 410 a systems have more issues especially with microchannels with leaks and systems having issues 4 years later.
They cost so much to replace. IMO, run it as long as you can if there is no leak. As far as efficiency, as long as the coils are clean, you really don't save that much. Just digging around on the web, I found grafts and how much you save with all this seer stuff, and it is not worth it. The little you save does not justify the difference in price.
@@jthonn exactly it's web digging and that's why I said what I said even if it leaks and mo 99 is cheap and that's perfect for after repairing a leak just to get them going but long term I think the blueon stuff is better and they do have an app to tell you what needs to be done to make the refrigerant work optimely and it's still less than a whole new system and all the stuff with the phase out.

How about adding a Fan Blade Puller to your toolbox, I think it would be very helpful for fan replacement jobs.
At first I thought it sounded horrible, but it did smooth out. Some of those old ones really hang in there. Great job

Battery operated fans work great out on the job. Especially in the Attic.

Still have the table, just don’t use it. So far, I like the bit.

With supply chain issues being what they are, I think I will order a spare fan motor for our condenser...

Do new capacitors come charged? Or do they charge themselves after they become energized?
It's a capacitor, not a battery.
