  • The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that Louisiana can use a new proposed congressional map that includes a second majority-Black district. A lower court recently blocked the map from taking effect. CBS News congressional correspondent Nikole Killion breaks down the long-running dispute.

      They were represented before. As an American I abide by the the Supreme Court decision and will not be jumping up and down wanting to pack the court, I will not be screaming that the Supreme Court is unjust. However, I am saddened that one of the women interviewed chose to make it a race issue and in so many words said she preferred segregation as a form of representation. To me that goes against everything men and woman Black and White fought for in the civil rights movement. As much as she does not want to see it this is just another outlet for the Democrats to keep Black Americans on their plantation that includes 58 years of failed entitlement programs and policies.

      @@latunniyayechka338For one, the Louisiana Republicans who brought the suit to begin with, claiming having two out of six districts be majority black - in a state with 1/3 population black peopke - was “diluting” the voting power of “non-black” voters, even though the voting rights act specifically call for these types of majority minority districts specifically to protect the voting rights of minorities against gerrymandering.

    Louisiana had always been a purple state that had elected many democratic governors. People of color have always been disenfranchised in this state built on the backs of POC. No, Louisiana is not "maga" like Jeff Landry says, it's far from it, there aren't many Trump supporters around here and those that are try to be either the loudest in the room or they try to keep it in the closet. You can imagine that loud mouths and their demographics. Highly populated cities in this state swing Democrat, yet the attorney general wants to say that giving POC a voice is disgusting, I'm glad I know exactly what he thinks of us.

      I've lived in Baton Rouge basically all my life, and this is very much MAGA territory. Lousyana hasn't voted for a Democratic Pres since maybe Bill Clinton. POC who are elected are ALWAYS elected from districts that are strongly black and Democrat. Just because you don't see crosses burning doesn't mean there is no smoke.

    Anyone else picking up the racism fighting racism with more racism.
    Should not matter what colour your skin is to represent the people's interest. What you need is people there who represent the majority interest not base the election on the colour of their skin.

    • @DonoVideoProductions
      @DonoVideoProductions 20 днів тому +2

      That's exactly what this map is. It is not based on skin tone it is based on the people who live there. It just so happens that the majority of people who live there are black. So this fits your requirement. As such why in the world would you call it racist?

    • @jking6736

      The point of this map is to reflect the people of Louisiana is reasonably possible with the amount of congressional districts it has Louisiana has six congressional districts and 1/3 of its population is African-American two black majority districts is 1/3 of Louisiana's population this is to ensure that the votes of minorities are not diluted by map drawers or convenience
